Suddenly I'm back in 2002 watching Adult Swim and munching on Bagel Bites with Tony Hawk.
I like to use English muffins, top it with marinara, lots of toppings and real cheese!
Yes, pretty much any bread can be pizzafied, I like pizza panini; spread each half of the panini with sauce, put cheese and toppings on one side with any other topping, sandwich together and cook in a panini press.
I think that's the original going back to the 60's, maybe even earlier. Bagel Pizza wasn't invented, it evolved from English Muffin Pizza.
@@TheOtherBill Mom made them for me back in the 70's and I'm still making them. The trick is to toast the engllish muffins first. It keep the marinara from making them soggy.
I've never had a bagel bite. Not a bagel person, so I never gave them a second glance. The situation will be remedied by tomorrow.

I almost never eat Bagel Bites or Pizza Rolls now and I rarely ate them as a kid, either. I'd much rather just eat real pizza.

We were making our own pizza bagels long before they did. Along with french bread pizza, toast pizza, English muffin pizzas, tortilla pizza, cracker pizza, etc. You throw cheese and sauce on anything that was like bread. It was such an easy thing and a little kid could handle making their own for a snack. We never even considered buying the frozen versions when they came out. They didn't really save you money or time. And they didn't taste as good. Bagel bites appealed to people who didn't know what a real bagel or pizza really was.

I rarely ate Bagel Bites, but I do have a fond memory of my children's almanac that had a recipe for homemade toasted pizza bagels. Though I wasn't never the hugest fan of the little pepperoni cubes, instant cheese pizza or regular pizza from the restaurant always hit the right way.
I wonder if that kid love for pizza persists today, stuff like this built childhoods 🥲
This will only make sense to viewers of a certain age, but if you remember the song "Freak Like Me" by Adina Howard, I used to combine it with the Bagel Bites theme. The chorus partially says "freak in the morning, freak in the evening..." So I added "freak at supper time! When you get freaky on a bagel you can get freaky anytime!" I was like eleven so, yeah. I still chuckle sometimes. I have my own renditions of a lot of songs, honestly

The biggest take away is that you can eat pizza, anytime! It's true, try it. Domino's even delivers until midnight.
I was a fan of Bagel Bites before the Hawk man started hawking them but when they teamed up - I was like "wow, two of my favorite things", skateboarding and bagel bites. Ore-Ida filled my childhood with things that would burn the roof of my mouth...if I didn't let them "cool off". We would get those little red boxes of Ore-Ida fries, oh man, throw one of those in the microwave and when it's done, throw some ketchup (Heinz of course) in the box and shake it up, eat with a fork (if you're civilized). Those were nice. When I got to middle/high school, they changed the box to a flat, larger box, and by that time, I was taking them out of the box and putting them in the oven. Bagel Bites were not for the microwave, though, maybe a convection oven or the actual oven but not the microwave....I like a little crispness to my bites and you don't get that with the microwave - or you do and you also get dried out bread... I also will cook soup in a sauce pan on a stove top before I microwave it, given the choice. Why settle for lesser quality because you're lazy?
I've tested Domino's many a drunk night at 11:55 pm. Sure, they would be pissed, but I made sure to tip the driver at least $10 for a $7.99 pie.

I don't understand all these comments about Bagel Bites burning your mouth. From my experience, the cheese was either still frozen or if I tried to microwave them longer to melt the cheese, the bagel became harder than a diamond.
I just bought some for the first time in decades. Dunno if I’ll get the nerve up to eat them. Nostalgia is dangerous

I'm a pizza roll guy. I won't turn down a Bagel Bite, but when I have the choice, I just don't need that much bread. 🤷 It's shocking how long the company's been around; lots of items you'd think had enough traction to stick around get discontinued anyway.

Back in elementary school, I used to make "pizza bagels" for lunch by putting leftover spaghetti sauce and parmesan cheese on an egg bagel and putting it in the toaster oven. I lived two blocks away from the school and was allowed to go home for lunch.

Get some good onion bagels, top, with good sauce, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. Then put it in the oven for a few minutes then turn on the broiler. They are way better than the frozen ones and the onion bagel makes a great base.

A quick Google search says they were just discontinued in Canada in 2022. I remember pizza pockets being the things the poorest of the poors ate that you got from the foodbank, while the not so poors ate name brand Pizza Pops. Apparently Loblaws sells bagel bites under the name Chef Gusto, it's $4 for 9. Your funeral - can't imagine being impressed by them 😅

Totino's were around a LOT longer ago than what this video says; it's just that they were called Jeno's Pizza Rolls in the late 80s/early 90s and they were absolutely great! I believe it was a brand change or a business purchase that moved Jeno's to Totino's.

My mother was making French bread pizza, pizza bagels, and english muffin pizzas for us since the 70's. She always found a way to put the least amount of effort into cooking for us.
