Absolutely no detectable "northern accent" at all. He speaks like the Oxford graduate that he is. And if he HAD spoken in the regional accent of his home town, it would have been a Northeastern accent (Consett, County Durham, to be precise), a VERY different thing from a "northern accent," which means basically Yorkshire or Lancashire.
That last bit is literally the funniest thing I've seen in a very long time!!
