Can't stress this enough 'Too clever for your own good' really means a lot. Don't leave people guessing what exactly you do. Don't grab their attention just to miss it!

This video is pure gold. Thank you again Wes for exampling this so well with real life headlines and showing us how to flip them. The part about tagging H1 and H2 was my favorite hack.

Great video, as always. Love your work and have applied a lot of what I've learnt from you already. I've changed my Homepage small text Headline (h2) from "Be Your Sparkling Best!" to" Drop-In! Be Your Sparkling Best!"

Excellent content as always... Just one thing about the final tip though, Wes... Are we absolutely sure that Having an H1 below an H2 is optimal? In terms of page structure and the way search engines crawl and rank websites (as well as accessibility), it's always best practice to have the Headings in the proper order, no?
IMHO, I'd advise doing what you suggest with the H1, but styling the impact "heading" above it bigger, as text, not as an H2...

Please don't put your H1 under your H2. H1 needs to be first on your page and only one H1 tag per page. Having them below other H tags or having multiple H1 tags will actually hurt your SEO!

@@fortworthclaimsadjusters9585 its common knowledge among website developers. If you look at the guidelines set out in W3 Schools and run your website through Googles own web page analytics, it will say that H1 tags should always be above H2 tags and only one H1 tag per page. It will hurt your SEO and Google don't like it if not (nobody wants to get in Googles bad books lol). You can go on any established forum to ask if you like, you will get the exact same response from anyone who knows web design, development and SEO. I'm not saying this to be pedantic or anything like that. It's just not the done thing in professional website development for a number of highlighted reasons. Check out what they say on W3 Schools is my suggestion.

A good statement from a fellow pro:
Yes you should always have the lower ranked header tags below the higher ranked ones and every page should have one and only one H1 tag then head down from there you can have other headers on your page and multiple thereof but your H1 tag should be the first thing they see on the page and is part if what the search engines look at to determine what page is about

Another good statement from a pro:
If a machine is programmed to look at things logically and in order it would benefit anyone presenting anything to that machine to in fact put them in order. In other words, if Google wants to see your page in order with a H1 at the top and then subsequent headers below then do that for them. Why would Google or anyone for that matter want to see the title of Chapter 3 before the title of the book?

The general thing here is that it's ok to do things backwards and in an unconventional manner within HTML5, but it doesn't mean that you have to use such bad practices when coding as its clear that it will hurt your pages SEO and Google's bots just dont like it! That should be a big enough reason to do things properly.
