  • We'd heard about Turtle Mountain some time ago and had been wanting to make a trip up for a while. We finally got the chance to take most of the crew up in July, and man.. were we in for a surprise.
    Just outside of Grand Bay-Westfield, we parked off exit 8 and took the power line in; which was wet but nothing challenging. Once we came to the trail road, that was quick and deceptive until we came to the ATV bridge. It was all downhill and uphill and downhill after that.
    In the videos, we'd watched and reviews we'd read it just says it's not for beginners.. well that is putting it mildly.
    It is absolutely not for beginners. I don't know if we'd go as far as to say it's advanced, but you really need to be either very confident in both your and your machine's abilities or have someone willing to move your machine if you're not able to. It was both physically and mentally demanding, not to mention hard on rigging.
    Shortly after the ATV bridge, with about 13 km of trail ahead, we met a pair of lovely women who were hiking to the top. They beat us, meeting us at every stop along the way, and helped coach us up to the top and most tricky part. Many thanks to them for the laughs and help.
    The view was 100% worth it. We had a ton of fun peppered with some hairy moments. We ended the day covered in dirt, sweat, and a sense of accomplishment. We conquered Turtle Mountain... and no, we won't be going back. That is pretty much a one-and-done scenario.
    We hope you have fun watching and we hope you will get out and try this trail too, if you haven't already ;)

    Fun and really challenging trail. Think those woman did a good job, not sure if I would dare driving all places there 😆

      It was definitely challenging. Knowing your limit is a good skill to have! We don't shame anyone for needing help or feeling they can't do something - it's much safer for everyone that way :)

    That was quite the adventure. lol What goes up must come down and the trip down looked very sketchy.. Don't blame you for not wanting to do that trail again. (very rocky)

    Team work makes the dream work! you guys did awesome in that department. Wish i had a group to ride with. Great video, but not good for some people to watch, if your sensitive to foul language. Too much cussing not edited out. Very rough trail. I wouldn't do it again either.Thanks for taking me along. I just had to keep volume turned low so the kids and wife didn't have to hear the video. I like to hear the talking, the quads, and surronding noises. Beautiful views. Glad none of you got hurt worse then you were. Looks like there were a lot of different scary situations. You guys/gals did awesome, completing the trail with all of the quads intact and no complete roll-overs at the end of the day. I like the variety of quads you had. Nice video to enjoy for almost an hour. Thanks again. I own a 2018 Grizzly 700eps, Yamaha Blue and I love it. Would have liked to try it with your crew.

      Yes there is swearing which is why we mark every video in youtube studio as not made for kids. We used to bleep them out but that gets pretty time intensive in the video editing process which there is only one person doing. So we aren't as family friendly as other channels at this time and might be something we might address in the future if it takes off.

      Glad you enjoyed the video! I'll talk to the editor to see if we can add a disclaimer at the beginning indicating swearing going forward :)

    Enjoyed the video. Hard to believe people take Jeeps up there. How long was the trip from when you left the trucks to you returned? I know guys who have done it several times. Its on my list to do. Did you air down your tires?

    • @OakHillCrew
      @OakHillCrew  Před rokem

      It was about 10 hours total from the trucks and back; and we spent about an hour at the top. We didn't air the tires down, but we did talk about how that probably would have made things a bit easier afterwards 😂

    YOU have LOW range for a reason.. FFS. To crawl over stuff. Not wheelie over stuff. Smoother operations is always faster. Studded Tires make your bike safer for climbing over rocks and logs. Not just use in the winter time. It's not even a bad trail...

    • @iramiam
      @iramiam Před měsícem

      1) bad is relative 2) glad you the time and money to switch out your tires all the time 3) your ability to discern high vs low range from sound is uncanny 4) wheeling over stuff is 100% more fun
