    I replaced my 3900X with a 5800X. Some ppl may consider this a dumb move, but I noticed that I didn't really utilize 12 cores (even video editing doesn't), and I wanted to sell the 3900X while I could still get a decent amount of money for it. Bought the 5800X for 370€ and sold the 3900X for 299€ (270 after ebay fees).
    The 5800X is noticeably faster in single core tasks, like saving large .png files.

    I can say for sure that the 5800X is worth it. I usually like to game and watch streams, videos and use other software or so forth while I'm gaming which has been made possible with the 5800X. A fantastic CPU. Also the price difference between the 5800X and 5600X has shrinked and it only cost 70 dollars more for me to purchase the 5800X. I'd consider that a steal

      Something that most users aren't aware of is that modern CPUs are very good at allocating resources in multi-tasking situations. Traditionally video rendering was a task that pegged your CPU at 100% usage and made it difficult to use the machine for other stuff. Today you can play games without any framerate drops while the CPU is churning through an all-core workload like rendering in the background. Even with a six core the computer doesn't turn into a stuttery mess when everything is pegged. It's great.

    I went from a Ryzen 3600X/RTX 2070 Super to a Ryzen 5800X/RTX 3080 and the difference in gaming performance is staggering. Even the CPU upgrade alone which I had 3 months before also upgrading my GPU was huge. In some games just switching from the 3600X to the 5800X with the same GPU, same 3600mhz CL16 32GB(4x8GB) ram, same X570 board, PSU, everything the fps gain specifically on the lows in some games was huge. The single core performance of Zen 3 is just so much better than Zen 2. Going from a 6 core chip to an 8 core chip was also way better. It may not show up in charts which is all people look at but in real world use gaming on an 8 core chip feels so much more smooth. Especially if you are also doing other things while gaming but even if all you’re doing is gaming going from 6 to 8 cores still feels much more smooth. Then when I got the RTX 3080 performance just went through the roof. I game at 1440P ultra settings in every game I play and still often max out my monitors refresh rate of 165 fps. Amazing chip even still. I’m hoping to use this CPU and the 3080 for at least another 2-3 years before I upgrade again and so far there’s been no game I can’t play maxed out at well over 100 fps at 1440P. I have CL 16 3600mhz ram 4x8GB sticks as I stated and on my CPU all I did was enabled PBO advanced mode with the limit set to 200mhz. That’s it and my chip consistently boosts to 5.1ghz in light load situations and around 4.85-4.9ghz when gaming. Cooled using a Noctua NH-D15 Chromax Black cooler in a Cooler Master NR 600 high airflow case. My GPU thermals at full load while gaming are around 65C with hotspot temp 9-11 degrees higher on average around 74-76C and my CPU temps idle or browsing are low 30s and around 60-65C while gaming. Amazing chip that runs fast and cool even with a premium air cooler as long as your case has good airflow. Along with my CPU, GPU, Ram, and cooler+case I mentioned the rest of my system is an Asus X570-Pro motherboard, EVGA G3 Supernova 850 watt 80+ Gold PSU, two Gen 4 Samsung NVMe drives, 4 SK Hynix Sata based SSD drives, an internal WiFi card, duel 27 inch 1440P Acer Predator 165hz G-sync monitors, Logitech G513 Red switch mechanical keyboard, Logitech G502 wireless mouse, and a Sennheiser PC38X headset. My case has a total of 4 120mm fans and two 140mm fans. 3 front 120mm intake, two top 140mm exhaust, and a rear 120mm exhaust. All fans are Noctua Chromax Black edition fans the same ones used on the Chromax Black edition NH-D15. They are amazingly silent and put out more airflow and static pressure than basically any other fans out there. That’s why my thermals are so good even with my CPU boosting to 5.1ghz on an air cooler. My GPU is also overclocked +120mhz on the core and nearly 1000mhz on the memory as well. My ram temps while gaming are around 38C. This is the best and most money I’ve ever spent on a system so I’m hoping it lasts me a good while. Haven’t had a single issue with this chip so far and I ordered it on release day.

I picked up a 5800X for $269 ($30 cheaper than the 5700X at the time) and a 5600X for $159 ($20 less than the 5600). I saved $20 off each motherboard when I purchased them in a Mobo/CPU combo, and I saved another 5% off the entire purchase when I used my Micro Center credit card. It was an in-store only deal, but I couldn't pass it up. The prices are currently $299 and $199 respectively, although if I was looking to buy today, I would probably go for the 5700X ($249) or the 5600 ($149) as their prices have dropped even more since April.

    help! I need cpu advice. i just had a computer built for me to handle photo and video editing needs and presumed it would be super fast with the specs i got. cpu: ryzen 7 5800x, mb: msi mpg x570 gaming edge, gpu: rtx 3060, ram: ballistix 32gb 3600mhz, drive: m.2 nvme samsung 980 pro.
    Whenever i do anything slightly intensive (export edited photos or make photo adjustments in advanced program), the cpu maxes out at 100% the whole time. I didn't expect that from these specs after reading about how well this cpu handles things. Suggestions? I even did basic overclock to 4.7ghz but get the same issue. I was told it can hit 5.0ghz but can't get the cpu there.

      But you can undervolt it and not throttle your chip. Remember, they’re rated up to 90(Celsius) operating temps. Not ideal at all but just remember that.
      Refer to this persons post sampling different methods, and ultimately manually undervolting 5800x not only improved temps, but in turn, improved the cinebench score. Unaware of their cooling solution, but a good case/cooling setup should be adequate. It’s mainly undervolting

    5800x sounds like an excellent CPU for a general purpose and gaming PC. If I were doing a MiniITX build, I’d go with one of those. And a midrange GPU (when they are priced normally again). I think a 6c8t CPU is a bit light for future-proofing 3 or 4 years, whereas the 5800x should work nicely.
    For the Intel route, if I wanted something comparable, I’d go 10900K with the understanding that the TDP will likely be significantly higher.

      @rando843 Před 2 lety

      The thing about future proofing is that you can lower graphics and you'll coast by just fine
      I've yet to run into a game I straight up can't play with my shitty 6 year old i3-6100, GTX 1050 Ti and 8GB of RAM build but I'd obviously love to get more performance which is why I'm looking to upgrade soon
      So it also depends on how much you're willing to compromise in terms of the settings too to determine how future proof something is. Had I gotten a good i7 and maybe a 1080 back in the day I dunno if I'd be looking to upgrade just yet
      But that said, damn I'm kinda looking for excuses to justify grabbing a 5800X instead of a 5600X myself because I really don't need one but I just want one. The main thing stopping me is the price difference being rather big and the slight concern over the thermals, though my planned cooler shouldn't have an issue with that I don't think
