I got to see this car race at Ontario in 1971. It was a combined F1/ Formula 5000 race run in two heats. Andretti was the overall winner in the Ferrari. The most amazing engine sound was from the V12 Matra. It was amazing. Hard to admit as I am a huge Ferrari fan, but the Matra won the engine sound challenge that year!

Just a quick reminder to all of those saying they wish they were there in the 60’s to watch these beast race instead of the blenders we have nowadays... if you were there in the 60’s the tv coverage would be a complete nightmare for our contemporary attention spans, complete lack of data on screen, no CZcams videos of highlights, replays, calendar of 10 races, etc. You would basically catch a glimpse of F1 if it came to your home country and that’s it. I, for one, rather have what we have nowadays (which is pretty awesome btw) and still catch a glimpse of these beauties from other eras on CZcams.

I like how some people always make a steel balls joke on these kinds of videos(best part of the comment section is the creative ones lol)... in all seriousness the real reason they can drive these cars with little to no fear is because they have a very deep understanding of the vehicle and how it acts in multiple scenarios. The cherry on top is the fact that they love racing, most will never openly say they "love" it for the sake of being "manly" 😂 but they do. You can't get that far into racing without loving it and accepting what it can do to you. Anyone who has a loved one that races whether its a sim race(some are unable to race irl) or real race knows a racer's heart is a wild one and you won't stop them because you can't catch their ass.
    Have a good night/day everyone.

Rather odd that there are 3-4 story townhouses built no more than 40 meters from the test track. I love the beautiful sound of an F1 car but imagine living in those condos. Try taking a nap on any afternoon when they are running the Ferraris!! Sweet sound, but I live 30 miles from Laguna Seca Raceway (Monterey California) and you can hear the cars from 5 miles away!

    Choose your fighter:
    1. Mechanical grip, no aero, closer racing, slower cornering speed.
    2. Full aero, less mechanical grip, huge gaps, faster cornering speed.

The one on the track is 1970 312B, not a 1971 B2. A B2 is shown in the pits early in the video. It is more square and has that white tail behind the cockpit. 1970 has just a simply triangle support.

You wouldn't want to be too close to the track and you wouldn't want to see some of the accidents too closely. Men died of blunt force trauma, smoke inhalation, burns, decapitation, being cut in half...it was brutal.

And what happened to Piers Courage in Zandvoort in June 1970 and Jochen Rindt in Monza due to a broken brakeshaft on Sat., 5th Sept. 1970, wasn't much better either. The list goes on. The No. 4 car we see here is actually a 312B, not a B2. The B2 had a squarer chassis than the B. According to Andretti, the B was a much better handling car than the B2, which suffered from insufficient chassis rigidity.
