Mount Airy Birds: Great Horned Owl

Great Horned Owls are known as the tiger of the sky due to their feather color patterns and their voracious hunting abilities. We are sure you have heard them in the skies and trees of Mount Airy. As a part of the Town's year long celebration of avian awareness, Town staff headed to Carroll County Recreation and Parks Hashawha Environmental Center and Bear Branch Nature Center in Westminster to learn more about this fascinating raptor including how much they weigh, their incredible grip strength and what they eat.
