Ken, great primer lesson for new drone pilots and a good refresher for those with limited experience flying a drone. I think that most new pilots, that crash or lose control of their drone, do so once they turn it around and the control works opposite of the way it did when it was flying away from them. Even after piloting drones now for over 4 years, I found this video taking me back to my first episode of flying my first drone, as I watched it fly away out of control as it lost contact with the signal of my control unit, while I feverishly moved the joysticks.
You just know that Emergency Rooms all over the world are going to be filled with facial prop injury victims now 😂 Listen kids... Ken does the stupid stuff so you don't have to.
Great video Ken!! Everybody give it up for the hardest working man out there on CZcams!! It takes a good bit of work to make a video and the cameraman that needs to go see his optometrist. Had a fun day there sir thank you very much!!
I have my first drone shipping to me as I write and I've been watching several videos on how to fly a drone and yours is the easiest and the most fun video I've seen yet! Well done and thank you.
One of the best tips I learned when the drone is facing towards you (reverse orientation) is to imagine the right stick is a "sling shot." If you pull the right stick down and right--like pulling back a sling shot--the drone will move in the exact opposite direction--as if you fired the sling shot (away and to the left). If the stick was a mini catapult, imagine what direction the drone would be launched when you released the stick. If you want the drone to move away and to the right, cock the right stick down and to the left.
Love your videos. I'm fairly new to drones, but I want to get the basics right before I've move on to drones with more sensors and automation. That orbit move is pretty tricky! Thanks Ken.
Well another informative and safety minded video from the Great One. Oh I caught you thumbing at least twice in the video but I won’t tell anyone Ken. I do hope you found all your fingers. Thanks again for your sacrifice on our safety behalf.
Ken, you say pinch and then use thumbs. Just wanted to mess with you like you do so many other, I try not to miss any of CZcams’s, always informational and fun, great job.
😂 that was legendary trying to land your drone on your head! I planned on selling my mavic air after three years of ownership but now decided to keep it thanks for the tutorials and the comedy 🎭
Ouch! I was thinking of doing the same thing with the head landing? but changed my mind. Thanks Ken for your entertaining videos. You're always looking for some fun way to do things. BTW, I was really hoping that you had pulled it off, the head landing. Thanks again bud.
Okay, after watching many videos, I admit to being an avid Ken Heron Fan... I instantly realized Ken has many skills...! Now it’s no surprise to me to learn that Ken Heron has an awesome radio show in Tennessee, and I can listen to Ken’s show on TuneIn Radio! Thank you Ken for all you do! Thank you Ken!! You are a cool dude!
I programed the Two tap button on my controller to look straight down. that way you can look at where you are setting down and still see your controller and not the drone, and you might have a flatter head that way too. You can get a graduation hat and paint an H on the top.
Not sure how to respond Ken. Quality over quantity is all I’m saying. Looking at your videos that get tens, even hundreds of thousands of views, they contain quality content. If you’re content where you are with this channel, that’s fine too.
Okay, I just had to pause at 1:30 and say that I am SO disappointed that you failed to make the joke here. How did you, king of dad jokes, not say "You could control it with your feet, but you'll get bad FOOTage." You're slipping. HAHAHAHA!
Wow that was like a blast from the past. Flying real drones and entertaining and educational . I didn't need to watch it as I've been flying these drone things for over 7 years now before dji even got the idea but still watched the video to the end. The landing on the head could only go one way buddy. You need a landing pad hat . Now that would be funny. Hey did the bikini clad flame jugglers go home ? I may try that in my next video. Not the landing pad hat but the bikini flame jugglers lol. Maybe some on the beach around here. Anyway Ken buddy I enjoyed that. Keep em coming .
Good job....hope your finger gets better too. That's another lesson for newbies...keep doing the starter - expert tips. They quite valuable. There is always a nugget to learn. BTW..you say you 'pinch', but it seems only for some shots as you show yourself thumbing a lot, too for basic stuff.
Pinch, not thumbs. I'll have to try that next practice session. Question though, as skills progress and you try to use the gimble while moving in 3D, kinda hard to still pinch the left stick eh? or do you operate the gimble with your middle finger?
Nice tutorial sir. For you it is basic doing that spiral. Hehe but for me, when i am doing that in my drone SJRC. It is hard and my drone is not stable. Hmmm, hoping that i can pilot, like your drone 🙏😇
Not related to the above, this last Sunday there was a very nice quadcopter video at the end of Sunday Morning on CBS. Maybe Jeff will have it in the news tonight.
I'm still waiting to get my computer fixed again I want to get it fixed but things are in the way right now so when I do I'll let you know when I got it fixed thank you Ken Thomas from one time
Ken at first I thought you are chessy now you can film your self teaching how to walk and i will watch it for hours... I have never been fan of anyone but I am Your Fan... Please dont ask me about my blades! 😉 Keep up the clips coming. I am going to send you a Gas card and you show it at gas station and your fuel is free. Wait you guys buy oli from Saudi's not us 😂 ok for now just a ♥️ and 👍
Is it possible to switch the roll and yaw controls? I'd rather have the roll connected to the collective rather than yaw. My first drone should be here tomorrow and I've been devouring learning videos ahead of time.
Happens to the best of us. I tried to hand-catch the Hubsan 501 and nearly cut the top of my middle finger off but like a pro or an idiot relaunched it after a battery change
Hey Ken, is that a pixel 5? How does it work with the fly app? I want to get an air2s but I'm hoping you can give me some guidance on the pixel 5's functionality.
Kids don't try this at home LOL I'm just learning how to fly a drone thank you for the instructions man watching you is helping me fly my drone thanks again brother
Since it is June and graduation month. Maybe if you had a graduation hat on you could have properly landed the drone on your head. You could have marked a landing pad on it.
I know how to fly a drone, but the pinch vs thumbs is a great tip, I always used thumbs until you posted this. My son tried landing on my head with a tiny drone but I have long hair lol. Where were the flaming chainsaws though?
One trick is to buy a less expensive practice drone... that Flys more.like an fpv... so if you crash you aren't out big bucks ie I bought a toy for 34 and practiced this on that prior to spending money for a dji with GPS ( worth the upgrade) [not flown much since restrictions went into place] but my advice is buy a learner drone for cheap..
You missed a pun, you can fly with your feet, as long as you get good footage
Same thought. Missed that goofy Ken sarcasm
😂😂
I was thinking the same thing . Video shot with the feet DEFINITELY qualifies as "FOOTAGE" 😂
Ken, great primer lesson for new drone pilots and a good refresher for those with limited experience flying a drone. Listen kids... Ken does the stupid stuff so you don't have to.
Just like tucker gott flying his paramotor low and to the shops
Hundreds have Been killed by his antics
Great video Ken!! Everybody give it up for the hardest working man out there on CZcams!! It takes a good bit of work to make a video and the cameraman that needs to go see his optometrist. Had a fun day there sir thank you very much!!
🤣🤣👍
😂 Phillip, you're a good man.
@@SunriseWaterMedia Well thank you, better to be a good man than bad and in jail. I'm not going back...lol
@@phillipcoshatt6845 Lol true!!
You know the old saying...Pinch, Pinch, Pinch! Another great Ken Heron video.
That ending…Lol! So glad you didn’t slice your scalp open Ken!
This is what you do best Ken. Piloting drones for cinematography. You have excellent composition choices and excellent execution.
Hey Ken, just purchased my first drone "DJI mini 2". I'm really excited about getting some videos and pics this summer. Keep the great videos coming.
Congrats Glen!
I have my first drone shipping to me as I write and I've been watching several videos on how to fly a drone and yours is the easiest and the most fun video I've seen yet! Well done and thank you.
Congrats on the drone!
You'll have lots of fun. 🤓👍
One of the best tips I learned when the drone is facing towards you (reverse orientation) is to imagine the right stick is a "sling shot." Ken I tried the head landing thing and now have 4 perfectly round bald patches! 😯⚠️😁
Thank you Ken. You remind me so much of a mailman. I just purchased a drone and I will be watching this to help me out. Thank you so much
Glad to help!
Happy flying.
Love your videos. I'm fairly new to drones, but I want to get the basics right before I've move on to drones with more sensors and automation. That orbit move is pretty tricky! Thanks Ken.
Wow! These are kicking butt man!
Thanks!
Well another informative and safety minded video from the Great One. Oh I caught you thumbing at least twice in the video but I won’t tell anyone Ken. I do hope you found all your fingers. Thanks again for your sacrifice on our safety behalf.
Well done sir, this will be very helpful to a new generation of drone pilots.
Ken, you say pinch and then use thumbs. Just wanted to mess with you like you do so many other, I try not to miss any of
CZcams’s, always informational and fun, great job.
The drone flying video you didn’t know you needed to see. Well done! 👋🏼🇨🇦
You should do one on how to know where you can legally fly. That seems to be the hardest part about flying drones.
@Christopher Smith I’ll check it out. Thanks!
Ken I do have to say this is the craziest thing I have ever seen you try! I hope that you are ok? Love the content keep up the good work!
awesome video ken ...just what I needed before bed . cheers m8.
😂 that was legendary trying to land your drone on your head! I planned on selling my mavic air after three years of ownership but now decided to keep it thanks for the tutorials and the comedy 🎭
In my job if you haven't lost some bark by the end of the day then you haven't been trying hard enough.
Good work Ken.
Thanks Phil!
Great refresher course Ken! Putting it into practice is the trick. Getting better each flight. 😁 (very bad idea)
Ouch! I was thinking of doing the same thing with the head landing? but changed my mind. Thanks Ken for your entertaining videos. You're always looking for some fun way to do things. BTW, I was really hoping that you had pulled it off, the head landing. Thanks again bud.
Excellent Tutorial Video Ken!!
thanks for the recommendation Ken, shout out from LA. it's funny because I automatically star using pinch the first time I flew my dron.
That was a better ending than you promised. 👋🏼🇨🇦
I'm new to this and love your videos. Thanks Ken!

Hey thanks so much Bob!
Glad you're enjoying everything. 🤓👍

Hey Ken Thanks for lets us see the end of your video...that was a funny improvising Kens idea, I love your sense of humor, have a good band aid
Did you notice how many times in this video you work the control with your thumbs,,, hmmmmm?
Great Video Ken ! always Entertaining..............
great mini 2 dji
That was bloody good Ken. 😎👍
🩸🕶️
Brilliant training mate one of the best I have watched ❤️
Awesome orbits with the finger tips 👍👍✌️
Awesome video 👍
@Ken Heron, mod a graduation cap with a chin strap and try to land on that!!! You could even mod the cap's flat top into a mini drone landing pad.
Your head's not as flat as you thought! LOL! That was funny!
Love your videos your hilarious keep making more
Subbed. Most entertaining drone video I've ever seen. You rock man.
Thanks bud!
Nice video! Please fly safe!
I programed the Two tap button on my controller to look straight down. that way you can look at where you are setting down and still see your controller and not the drone, and you might have a flatter head that way too. You can get a graduation hat and paint an H on the top.
Those motors are powerful lol. Great …tips! Thanks! I’m definitely still working on my technique. Thanks for the …pointers.
The trick is to keep doing the basics until they become automatic (aka muscle memory) and then repeat with more advanced maneuvers.
An amateur practices until he gets it right; a professional practices until he can’t get it wrong
Love the landing on the head, definitely gotta try that! 😁
😜
Ken, P.I.C. actually stands for Pilot In Command not pilot in control. “A good pilot
Is always learning.” -Jason Schappert👍👍
That’s a bloody rough landing Ken 🩸
The quality entertainment and valuable information this channel provided in the past has dissolved. 🙁
Funny, was just thinking the same thing about your comments. 😢
Not sure how to respond Ken. Quality over quantity is all I’m saying. Looking at your videos that get tens, even hundreds of thousands of views, they contain quality content. If you’re content where you are with this channel, that’s fine too.
I appreciate the input. 🤓👍
HE Is STILL ENTERTAINING AND still sooo informative. Loooved his comedy😘
Blood - Sweat & Tears...as in 'tear the skin from my bones'. I have done that a few times...hope you remembered your Band-Aids.
Now I know. Thanks Ken
Thanks!
The king of b-roll :)
Kid: Mom, Uncle Ken is doing stupid sh!t again on youtube.
Mom: He's NOT my Brother !
Great video, new subscriber
That failed landing was awesome! and the video was good too!
🤓👍

The drone insurance man just increase his Drone Insurance- Premium for Bodily Injury after watching this video.

Nice Hair/Finger cut. Another great video Ken!!!
Wow nice landing at the end straight a head😵💫😂😂

Hello, my buddy KEN !👍👍👍
Calls out the camera man. LOL 😂 😂😂
Ken says...don't use your thumbs. He uses his thumbs.
Good video
Is it possible to switch the roll and yaw controls? I'd rather have the roll connected to the collective rather than yaw. My first drone should be here tomorrow and I've been devouring learning videos ahead of time.
You can switch the controller to mode one which would put the throttle on the right stick
Happens to the best of us. I tried to hand-catch the Hubsan 501 and nearly cut the top of my middle finger off but like a pro or an idiot relaunched it after a battery change
Thanks for donating
Hey Ken, is that a pixel 5? How does it work with the fly app? I want to get an air2s but I'm hoping you can give me some guidance on the pixel 5's functionality.
It’s a mini 2
LOL, well done. I suppose everyone needs a little head. Thanks for sharing.
Kids don't try this at home LOL I'm just learning how to fly a drone thank you for the instructions man watching you is helping me fly my drone thanks again brother
Yewwww !
Did you see the Vulcan statue on top of Red Mountain? Roll Tide! Damn, you travel a lot!
Hey Ken, great video. Don't give up on the head landing. Try it with a graduation hat next time.
👍
Since it is June and graduation month. Maybe if you had a graduation hat on you could have properly landed the drone on your head. You could have marked a landing pad on it.
Excellent. I guess no episode two eh?
Episode two link in description.
DUH, “why try to catch an upside down lawn mover”, heard this first drone class taught at UNH. DUH
I know how to fly a drone, but the pinch vs thumbs is a great tip, I always used thumbs until you posted this. My son tried landing on my head with a tiny drone but I have long hair lol. Where were the flaming chainsaws though?
Nice head...landing. I need to practice, practice, PRACTICE.
Great explanation, you are either an engineer or a science professor at some university with how you demonstrated. ;-)
Define emergency. Examples of situations where you should use RTH.
When you can't bring it back manually.
Ken I used my feet to control my drone and crashed....should have watched this video first!!!😁👌
