I Tried to Climb Africa's Tallest Mountain (Kilimanjaro)
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 2. 08. 2024
- Mount Kilimanjaro. The tallest mountain in Africa is one of the most stunning, desirable mountains in the world. A total bucket list item. And here we are, hoping to reach her summit. This is one of my favourite adventures so far, and it comes with my longest vlog ever (LOL!). 9 days of adventure, squeezed into a single video... You understand, right? đ
Big thank you to KILIWARRIOR EXPEDITIONS (kiliwarriorexpeditions.com/) for inviting me on this trek. I can't praise them and their staff enough for their professionalism and friendliness. AND of course the Western Breach... ouff. Epic.

The porters are really unsung heros of the climb up. My goodness the strength they display as they carry up the materials of the climbers, they are amazing! And what a way to support the local economy by supporting them!
You're absolutely right - they are amazing individuals.
These western climbers wouldn't be doing this without porters, I'm not saying it would be impossible but it would make that 1-2 week 'expedition' impossible...
@@xmrpaintx1 I agree, the porters are amazing, not only with how much they carry, but they are also amazing individuals. I wouldn't have made the summit without the encouragement of the lead porter.
You are right bro !
Most climbers have nothing but praise for them.
In 2012 I climbed this mountain taking this same route. At the summit, my now husband proposed to me. He even had a ring. I was 61. What an amazing adventure! Now thanks to you I have a video of it. Thank you!
What a cool story!
I'm goal is hike this peak in 2024. I'll be 60 years old. I live in CA where there are so many beautiful challenging hikes with high altitude peaks. I hike during four seasons. Congrats on your marriage.
@@phchristy2672 Enjoy! It was a challenge and so memorable. Be sure to go on safari afterwards.
Fantastic! Happy 70th to you!

These guys carry all that stuff, then still have energy to have a break dancing/singing session. Absolutely amazing!
When you were buying the herbs, I was thinking to myself "She is not used to this food, it could cause problems".
I was thinking she has NO clue what it even is. And then took it in the middle of the climb. *facepalm*
@@javakat343 hahaha
đđđđnot really
The herb was a detoxifier.
@@coolpractice506 I was thinking the same thing. My first thought was "all hell is about to break loose". Sure enough it did. Wish she could have made the storm of a detox happen BEFORE the climb.

I find Eva to be such an interesting person. I'm curious to know how she grew up, more about her family life and ancestry. I'm just curious about what made her become the person she is today. She is just so interesting.
Agreed... I find her fascinating
She posted a video about her uncle that you might find interesting. She gives him the credit for her sense of adventure and her desire to travel and document her journey.
Me too.
I tried to climb my stairs holding a full bag of wet laundry.

Delighted that my favorite travel vlogger has just released a video of her Kilimanjaro climb, via the same route I travelled last year, including the rare Western Breach and Crater Camp. She obviously did a much better job representing the same experience. Her half hour vividly captures the emerald velvet forests, soul-stirringly starry night skies, glossy treacherous western breach rocks, glorious dust-rimmed glaciers. And the views. Oh, the views! We are all luckier that she added this incredible place to her shared travel experiences. Thanks, Ms. Zu Beck!

Magnificent! You are truly amazing. I can feel the emotions and the difficult journey that took you here. This is what life is about... Thanks for reminding us :)
So impressive you managed to edit this all together in just a few days - almost as impressive as the climb!
Makes you almost wonder if there isn't a crew of 12 doing all that photography and writing and camp setup and food prep, like on all those TV shows where the stars are supposedly "alone" in the wilderness.
Just found you channel and I've now binged watched a load of your videos. You're so inspirational!! Your little speech at the end when you had reached the summit brought tears to my eyes! Your right,, the world really does belong to the brave :))
Incredible journey Eva! You did not try to climb Mt Kilimanjaro, you absolutely did it and all while capturing beautiful drone shots and precious memories along the way!
Just amazing and beautiful 30 mins video. I am sure vlogging during such experiences is a different level task altogether. Congrats đ đđ„
Well done Eva, you inspire many people around the world to be adventurous and brave. THANKS đ

I'm so incredibly happy for you when you got to the summit! Your editing skills are amazing and combined with this incredible experience really hits home. Thank you and congratulations!!!!
So cool! I like how you combined stunning photography with the changing emotions of the climb. Congrats to you and Mike!
In 2016 I had the chance to get to Tanzania - Arusha and climb Kilimanjaro on the Machame route. The 6 days spent on the mountain were like a life lesson for me. It is impressive how porters lead such a hard life and yet they are happy and cherish every moment! My guide's name is Goodluck ... what a good name for him! and in the camp before the summit I asked him how he can always be so happy ?! and his answer was ... others are starving, and I have a job from which I can support my whole family! ... his earnings not exceeding $ 100 per month! All my appreciations go to the porters!
Respect â good Job đ
That truly was an excellent video! When you were taking the herbs, I remembered that axiom of marathon running.....don't try anything new for the race! I am glad you recovered, and likely it is a great idea to try something new well in advance of any major adventure.
I'm so glad your youtube channel is working out for you! You deserve it :))
Amazing vlog, could not have come at a better time, shows how special these mountain porters/guides are. Real heroes. Spare a thought for Ali Sadpara who , as of Feb 8, 2020, is still missing somewhere beyond the bottleneck on K2, people from around the world are praying for his safe return against all odds. He lives in our hearts, forever.
Hello Eva,
My name is Patrick and I am from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I climbed Kilimanjaro in 2010 and left part of my fathers ashes at the summit, I totally feel the joy you get after such an amazing trek!!! This climb is such an experience for anyone who wants to push them selves. I am planning to go back in a few years with my son. Congratulations and keep up with the beautiful adventures.
Next time dont leave your people ashes in africa. Its like cursing our land ..its not good for our ancestors anger!!!!! It wasn't okay...u sjould have done it somewhere in snow europe
That opening 30 seconds narrative just... đ
So inspiring, Eva! I can't wait for the vlog. I've always wanted to climb Kilimanjaro! Though, I probably need to lose a few lbs. before attempting đ Enjoy the rest of your time in Tanzania (I vlogged there two summers ago and loved every corner that I visited). Cheers from Calgary, Canada!
Indeed, the world belongs to the brave! And you are one of the bravest woman I've known. I love you, Miss Eva Zubeck. You are such an inspiration especially to a woman like me. I first watch Mike's video and I almost cried but here I cried. This maybe because I am a woman and I feel what you feel a night before you climb the summit and when you reach it. Such a relief and great feeling of all!!!! I am glad that you found each other, one of my favorite yloggers, mikmik. God is great! You complement each other and I see love in you which is the most greatest feeling of all. Yes, love conquers all and you conquer it together. Climbed it 2 years ago. Machame route. The hardest thing iâve done. Never felt so cold. We left base camp for summit at 11pm. So it was all done during night. Saw sunrise from the top. Would never do it again, but it was amazing.

Amazing footage of you all deftly climbing the western face at dawn. Bravo! You definitely captured the intense physical effort and the immense beauty of the landscape. I could almost feel myself there in the ice and rock awaiting the first rays of light and warmth
This trekking crew seem like really charming dudes. Iâm normally not a big fan of guided climbs (I always feel kinda weird to have somebody catering to you), but these guys seem like theyâre really enjoying their work and Iâm glad that theyâve got a porterâs Union and run a good business from the sport of climbing.
This is amazing. Definitely inspired me to go out there and climb my own mountain! Congrats
