    Rating Barkham green and not mentioning the cost would've been an amazing troll move.
    One small request for future stoplight videos (or at least ones where it makes sense): an overview shot so folks can see all the greens at a glance.

    Now that Charlie Kane is a character, how about changing the traffic lights to Hank.

    An XP recommendation for each standalone would be great.
    For example I would say you can reasonably do Excelesior with 0xp or 9xp,
    Carnivale I'd recommend 9xp. It might be a little too tough at 0xp and a bit too easy at 19xp.
    And for Guardians of the Abyss I would want 19xp minimum and even 29xp will still be challenging.
    But some of the other scenarios I don't know as well.

    I'd like for standalone to suggest an exp amount that's reasonable to bring
    Certain scenarios are not fun with level zero decks

    Guardians of the Abyss is one of the best standalones, BECAUSE it is really challenging and not just an easy XP grap in a campaign. And I love the theme.
    But it is really hard even for experienced players.

    I love the jump cut at the end of the video. "That's Brynn!" *he appears, video ends*

    So, we just beat the Rougarou today, and you guys really down played how hard that scenario is. It was fun, and the setting is great. But, we got nearly eaten by some of the monsters.

      Did you play it in a campaign or as a standalone? I find in a campaign that the bag stays mostly manageable, but in standalone mode the bag is relentless.

      It was between chapters three and four of Carcosa, but the alligators and the thicker monsters whose name escapes me caused some serious problems. When I tried it before hand as a solo stand alone, I didn’t do much better. It’s hard, but it was pretty cool.

    This is a really good subject to tackle! I see people ask this question all the time, and this gives more in-depth explanations as to why to buy-or-not-to-buy. Keep it up, folks!

    Nicely timed video! I recently bought all the standalone scenarios (except Barkham Horror) and was wondering which ones were recommended to introduce to a friend who's new to Arkham.

    Not digging the idea of the “print of demand stuff.. and I definitely don’t have 12 players… it’s usually just me 2-handed🤣
    Maybe Guardians, Murder and Folly?

    I have the chance to buy all of the standalone scenarios new in box for 9 bucks each. Worth it?

    I don't know what you ment with Barkham Horror doesn't get reprints. I got mine in january for twenty bucks i think

      @PlayingBoardGames  Před 5 měsíci

      Then you're very lucky. It was a charity release and hasn't been reprinted and goes for a lot more than $20.

    • @OlDirtySam
      @OlDirtySam Před 5 měsíci

      @@PlayingBoardGames it was a reprint though. Maybe its a language thing since mine was german. But it was a reprint i waited over a year pre ordering

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@OlDirtySam I have heard that the German language version is cheaper (and potentially gets reprinted, I don't know enough to know), but as an English speaking channel, we're referring to the English version, which is wayyy too expensive. Nice that you were able to snatch up a German version.

    The packaging for Labyrinths of Lunacy mentions being able to play it as a mini-campaign but never seen anyone talk about this in any detail - is it any good if played in this way, or is only Epic multi-player worth it?
    If you're more interested in campaigns over standalones I'd have thought this might nudge ahead of some of the other packs in this category .
    Even if not suitable for new players does this not place higher for experienced groups looking for another campaign fix (maybe as a follow up adventure for a group of Investigators who just finished Return to Night of the Zealot - to allow for further character progression?).

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  Před 10 měsíci

      I actually can't imagine what it's referring to as being played as a mini-campaign. It's one scenario with three small variants to setup, but that doesn't make it a mini-campaign.
      Unless you are referring to Guardians of the Abyss. Which is two scenarios in one package.

    • @OlDirtySam
      @OlDirtySam Před 5 měsíci

      I have played it as a mini campaign with a friend of mine. We loved it. But what is important to know is that it is not very injection friendly. If you have the other stand alones you can put them in between campaign adventures, get some cool cards out of it etc. This one has none of this sort. And if i remind correctly nothing happening in there will be taken over into the campaign. You won't get exp or anything as far as i remember.
