To those who sit for hours at a time, I would avoid the leather/vegan leather option. They are not breathable so it gets warm & uncomfortable very soon from my experience.
Good call!
I'd also have durability concerns. Of course people will claim it's just as good as actual leather.. but is it?
@@Axeiaa I have received sample fabrics from Haworth, they sent me me Brisa faux leather. I have another chair (not Haworth) with Brisa faux leather for over 10 years, still perfect, no damage, easy to clean.
Fun fact: Vegan leather is just a fancy name for plastic.
Got a new, preconfigured fern with for 730€ about two years ago and I love it.
3:26 "Chief Sergeant", lmaooo. Bro it literally says "The *Master Chief* Edition" on the little patch thing on the back of the chair right in front of your face 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Maybe sergeant is his middle name…? 😂🤣
@@Ahnestly Lmao, maybe... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤷♂
My Atlas Headrest arrives tomorrow (it took just under five weeks to ship, but two-day delivery so I'm good with it). Haworth also runs 10-15% sales a few times per year, which is when I jumped on one (early 2023).
Give us a review on the how you like the headrest. I was sold on getting it but this high back design honestly makes me not miss a headrest
@@xAlbo94 I'm THRILLED with it. I knew I wouldn't like the Haworth one, so I skipped it, and am glad that I did. I got the cushioned version for the Fern, and it's marvelous. Very flexible, ridiculously easy to install (I followed Dan's recommendation of connecting the two pieces BEFORE attaching it to the chair), and it's comfortable beyond my expectation. Money very well spent (for my personal tastes). Prior to that, I was using a pool-noodle type, which was okay but only effective when I dropped my head back (looking up at the ceiling). With the Atlas, I can use it for all scenarios, and it's MUCH more comfortable than the noodle.
For anyone on a budget, I just picked up a mesh fern with the lumbar support for $350 from the Hayworth outlet store in Holland Michigan. If you're within a couple hours I'd say it's worth the drive for that value. It's not in pristine condition. You don't get to pick the colors. But I was just in there and there was a decent variety available. Totally worth the value.
That's insane, nice!
I got the regular Fern in all black with the digital knit. I'm very happy with the purchase. I also own a steelcase gesture and I would say the fern leans more towards the casual slouching user... And the gesture forces you to sit upright. They both work great for what they do.
I have a Fern without digital knit and without added lumbar bubble (I got a good deal on it). I think the digital knit is way nicer and if you like having some real lumber support then get that, too. I had to roll up some foam and shove it into the lower back of the chair to get enough support. A really good chair, but at 5'11" the seat pan is not really long enough for me, sliding it out opens a gap in the back and takes your "sitting bones" out of the sweet spot in the seat pan. For people less tall this is a really great chair. Thumbs up!
QUESTION FIR YOU!!! CAN YOU slide the seat pan all the way out and sit scooched back in the seat? My digital knit fern at home still has a gap, but the Xbox DOES NOT! Wtffff this could be huge
The digital knit is way more expensive though.
One of the guys at BTOD now prefers the digital knit fern to the embody because he can take the lumbar out of the fern and finds it less aggressive than the embody. I have a strong feeling I am in the same boat (though bought the embody before trying the fern, cos it seemed perfect to me in the HM showroom and preferred the styling). Just goes to show really have to sit in these chairs for a decent time to fully know how it's gonna fit you.
No digital knit available in the UK.
Ordered an Atlas headrest last week! Can't wait for it to come in!
Woot woot!!
That ball-rubbing test is a must have!
Prices have really skyrocketed. 2.5 years ago during a sale, I got a new preconfigured digital knit Fern for about 700 usd.
Facts, some of big brands (Haworth, Steelcase, and HM) have jacked up prices 40%. Inflation is a factor, sure, but 40%? GTFOH.
@@letsgocapsbeatpensIt's all thanks to the WFH movement.
"Chief Sargent" 🤣🤣
Lollll yeahhh my bad
@@Ahnestly No worries, keep up the good work! Love the channel
Do you know if Haworth has discontinued thier digital knit? Looking at their official website noticed only mesh was offered
So, with all these chairs, what do you recommend for a PLUS size heavier person at 5'10"? I was looking into these New Kaiser chairs...the 3 Pro and the 4...and even chairs like the Sihoo Doro S300. Thanks!
Steelcase Leap v2 plus
Your valuation for the butt rubbed chairs seem to be slightly overinflated.
If he throws in the sniff check certification, I'm sure they would just fly off the show room floor. LOL
Based on Herman miller prices, my price seems about right
This is an excellent chair, but in Europe they ask for 1500 euros for it, at the same time in America you can buy it for 1000 euros, this is a significant price difference. Also, in Europe there are no used and refurbished chairs, no one sells them, in America, you can find a used chair for less than 700 euros in excellent condition......And a very interesting situation with discounts in Europe: there are none :( I've been wanting to buy this chair for a long time, but apparently, it wasn't my destiny. If anyone has any recommendations on what kind of chair to buy from $500 to $800 in terms of ergonomics Haworth Fern.
Can you make a video about removing and how to remove the fern OG head rest please? I’m thinking of getting the xbox one but would like a tutorial on headrest removal. I couldn’t find anything on a quick google of youtube search.
AndaSeat Kaiser 4 Premium Gaming Chair Review and AndaSeat Kaiser 3 PRO - XL Review coming soon?
Would definitely go for the Mater Chief chair! Probably best set up for gaming sessions where you need to t-bag your vanquished relentlessly.
I never played halo crazy enough….played a ton of 007 though and then moved to pc!
I would recommend the normal fern.
Just imagine a hot summer and you are in shorts or something and your skin sticks to the chair.
awfull.
fabric for the seat is a must for me.
@@Ahnestly Golden Eye in paint ball mode!
So @ahnestly which chair do you use as your daily driver (not just from these but any chair). I have a similar sitting style / body as you
Bc I’m constantly reviewing chairs, I don’t have a daily driver anymore…but I switch between embody, fern, and anthros!
@@Ahnestly Thanks bro! Would be cool if you did a video of your sitting habits throughout the day while you work/play etc.
Thoughts on the Flexispot OC6?
@Ahnestly Thanks for the informative video! Just found that it doesn’t appear I can get most of the chairs in the UK sadly! The EU store only has one pre-configured chair, and the US store doesn’t ship to the UK.
Haworth really need to get their shit together.
Even Steelcase recently opened up a brand new UK webstore so that they can compete with HM more effectively within the UK.
Hi Bro! Can you test the SIHOO M57?
OK thank you. But I am waiting for that Sihoo S300 review :)
if you didn't check them yet, spinalis are pretty interesting chairs.
i myself got the humanscale freedom second hand off of your in depth review, its been great so far!
I am looking for a big chair like titan evo 2022 and I sit in every position while using it and I have no budget problem is herman miller gaming embody good choice or should I go for another chair.
(I dont like hard lumbar support.)
Hey based on your desire for soft lumbar, would avoid the embody. The Fern is a great choice for lounge/every which way sitting! If you have any questions or decide to pick up, let me know and please consider using my links! Helps the channel a LOT!
@@Ahnestly thanks for answering.
I have been watching a lot of your videos and the content is great, you've gained a sub! Unfortunately, it is quite disappointing that even spending 2k$ you cannot get a perfect chair.
I want a good ergo chair type HM, Steelcase, Haworth with a headrest to improve my back pains but none of them have a recline function. I work 4-8 hours per day at the desk but I also want to be able to recline the chair and relax after a long day of work when I watch some youtube or other and not have to constantly apply pressure to stay tilted. I have gone through two old HyperX Stealth (which are Titan knock offs) and I love the recline function but the rest of the chair is garbage and they break down easily.
Any tip on a chair that would fit those requirements? Thank you!
I feel your pain, brother. I want that exact thing, but no one has done it.
The closest that have come close are the Steelcase Karman (high back) and the SIHOO Doro S300. Of the 2, I'd def recommend the Karman.
They dont have back tilt lock, but they do have auto adjust mechanisms, meaning they tilt based on your weight placement, not based on how much force you place on the back. No high end ergo chair can lock the back tilt in place like racing style/asian made chairs do though! Hope this helps and please consider using my links if you decide to pick up!
@@Ahnestly have you tested the Stressless Consul? (Sorry if you did and I've missed it.)
I have the gaming Embody and I like, it, but part of me still wishes it was more cushy. Maybe someday I'll spring for a Fern, it was my 2nd choice when researching chairs.
The OG Fern with the Digital Knit configuration is still the best variant.
Is this worth spending 4x the money of the sihoo m18 you recommended in your sub $300 shootout
Hm if I could put it this way...
- You get 12 years of warranty from a reputable company
- Return process will be significantly easier
- You get MUCH higher quality materials all around
- You get a lot more customization (M18 is very very basic in terms of controls)
Hope this helps! Haworth is on sale now for a few more days, so if you're curious, you could pick up now and return if you don't like it! If I've been of help, please consider using my links! It really helps the channel a LOT!
I'm so annoyed by haworth.
I want a fern, with digital knit fabric.
BUT IT'S NOT AVAILABLE IN EUROPE.
They said 6 months ago they are working on it.
They're working on making it EU compliant, as the original version failed EU safety tests.
How much more comfortable is the genuine leather seat compared to the regular fabric seat?
great question. I couldn't tell a noticeable difference, but keep in mind I think I was wearing jeans for this review. Might be different if you were wearing something a little thinner....or nekked.
Bein an Xbox gamer since ... can't remember 😅 have to say that the black xbox version looks so great !
Just ordered the Atlas headrest for my Fern Executive. The stock headrest is a joke. They really need better support behind the neck when tilting back in the chair.
Yeahhh…it’s really unfortunate how bad it is :(
can you tell me how you got the original off?
As someone that owned a fully loaded leather one minus the headrest I would say avoid this chair, didn't like it at all. If you are going to go Haworth, the Zody is a better chair. My Haworth Improv H.E. from the mid 90s is still a supremely comfortable chair, one of the best chairs ever.
What do you like about the Zody as different / better than Fern?
If money was not an option what would you pick Fern, Embody, or something else?
Embody all the way, but the Fern is right up there.
thx for the video. I've got myself a Halo Version and I'm very happy with it.
btw is Vegan Leather a fancy word for Trashy Fake Leather? Does anyone know how long is guarantee on this so called Vegan Leather material?
You're spot on, Vegan leather is nothing more than pleather/faux leather.
Its durability is worse than suede and even genuine leather.
but the green one has real leather. read in my order that it is
Hey! I can reach out to Haworth to find out. Website says vegan leather. Weird…
@@fudeboii so the green “Halo” version got the real leather?
Why is Haworth not transparent an out the materials used in their products tho?
@@Ahnestly okey. in my order confirmation it read the characteristics of the chair and it said that: Standard fabric - Leather Elmo 98047-3
Hi, 5'11, about 200 USA look for a chair with lumbar support, and my budget is about 300
Check out my ultimate chair buying guide for 2023-2024!
Man, I love the Xbox chair. Almost perfect mixture of luxury ergonomics and understated gaming styling. What a pity about the headrest, but if it can be removed and replaced with Atlas might well be the "gaming" chair to beat the embody.
the Headrest on the gaming editions were a pain to deal with.
I would totally get that xbox or halo chair!!!
I bought the Haworth fern. Unfortunately after a week its going back. 6 ft 3. The seat pan isn't long enough. The digital net is a little bit scratchy and really locks you into place compared to my old leather chair. It does feel a bit odd being wider than the chair at the top as it tapers up. It's a c+. I keep it if it wasn't $1,250. There are too many negatives at that price point.
I was sweating the choice of going with the lumbar support. Definitely get it. It is the least aggressive lumbar support that I've ever experienced. I've never used lumbar previously this was perfect.
For taller folks, the HM Aeron size C and Steelcase Gesture are good options.
can the wheels be swapped out with the rollerblade style wheels?
Any caster can be replaced! Takes some elbow grease to get them, out though
@@Ahnestly thank you for your answer. i have this in my cart on your amazon link. is thke amazon an affiliate link as well?
Yes! And I really really appreciate you willing to use my links. Helps the channel a lot!!
@@Ahnestly so i bought it, arrived today and nothing works on it :( is there some setup step im missing?
What do you mean by nothing works? Like getting the old casters out?
3:45 Olive Green. Hunter green is a completely different shade of green, lol.
Dang i wanna know what you do for a living that you’re out here memorizing the entire 198 piece crayola crayon box 😂🤣 I appreciate ya!!
@@Ahnestly 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Fair point, lmao. Olive green is one of my favorite colors because I'm really into military surplus and history, and I only know hunter green because we used to have our downstairs bathroom painted in that color.
sadly they dont sell haworth in scandinavia..
8:23 🥴
It’s because having the xbox affiliation devalues the chairs. The regular ferns are cross platform 😂
Hahahahaha nice
Now We just need the digital Knit in Europe, so i Can get a new chair!
Unlikely to be anytime soon, as the material which forms the Digital Knit configuration is currently banned in the EU for failing their stringent safety tests.
Digi Tweed is the sweet spot seat fabric imo.
What’s that???
@@Ahnestly Digi Tweed is a premium fabric option for the Fern.
It is highly textured, yet not scratchy on sensitive skin; comes with a stain repellant finish; is decently breathable; and is about 50/50 recycled polyester.
Did you sit on or use other Fabrics? I know different Fabrics can tremendously impact the stiffness or softness of chair cushion? I have Tellure Fabric on my Fern and it appears to breathable and not scratchy.
@@thewhitewolffl Tellure was actually the favorite fabric of the employees at the store I went to.
Despite working on commissions and it being the cheapest option, they pushed it a lot, even with their corporate clients.
IMO Tellure feels like an elevated version of a foam office chair seat whereas Digi Tweed feels like a premium fabric recliner/sofa.
Tried the leather option too, but I live in a hot area, so that was an instant no.
I have the embody and just received the Fern. The Fern quality is so poor... came broken and feels like a very cheap office chair. I knew in the first minute of sitting on it that it was going back. It's a shame that my gf's Secret Lab feels like it's such higher build quality.
Are you willing to sell Xbox fern?
Shipping it to you would cost an arm and a leg :-/ but I found out another pro to the Xbox and why I’ll keep it - it doesn’t have the seat gap!
Seat gap? I’m confused
@@milkmanfitness the fern is well known to have a seat gap in the butt area when you scooch the seat pan all the way out. I discovered that I could not feel a gap on the Xbox version, but I can feel a gap on my regular digital knit at home.
@@Ahnestly that’s super interesting, I wonder if it has something to do with the materials? Wow
8:45 bruh x,D
I disliked it purely because this brand is not available in Europe.
Yeah that sucks, i found out the same when i was researching where to get these premium chairs
@@Dew4lk If you're anything above 185cm try Steelcase Leap V2. I know for sure it will work out for you.
You disliked my video because of that? Comeon man…that hurts me in the algorithm…I’m not Haworth - I have no control over these things.
@@Ahnestly I think you misunderstood, he dislikes the haworth ferns or even the brand. not the video.
You can get a fern, but only the normal with limited options (no digital knit) and no xbox version.
I really want a normal fern with digital knit.
You can probably buy a Kinnarps chair in Europe , which look incredible, and kind look like a Fern chairs. I wish we had Kinnarps here in the USA to try and buy!
In europe they give only 5 years of warranty instead of 12 in NA. Disgusting, I wouldn't recommend such a company to anyone
Steelcase used to pull the same shit as well, but they recently changed their attitude by once again offering 12 years (and even a lifetime warranty) on almost all parts, except the fabric.
@@StardustLegacyFighter 👍
I narrowed down my choices to Xbox fern, Logi Embody and Mavix M9. They’re all so nice 🫠
The M9 is not. Huge drop in build quality overall compared to the other 2!
@@Ahnestly ok prob just made my decision for me 😂. Xbox Fern it is, Herman Miller up’d the price the Logitech Embody to 2k
