Goodbye Hua Hin, Hello Chumphon

- Hua Hin to Chumphon by train. Ticket cost 423 baht and took about 3 hours. I stopped in Chumphon for a few nights because i didn't want to travel the full distance to my next destination, Surat Thani. However, on the train ride i had some time to think and decided i might travel to Ranong so i can visit a small island named Koh Phayam. Another option i have is visit Koh Tao by ferry which is located in the Chumphon province.

In japan, A train left 30 sec to early. It was in the news. Big issue and the railway company started an investigation. No joke. 10 min late in Thailand is perfect on schedule.
Hua Hin has a lovely rail station. Had a bar in Hua Hin just around the corner many years ago.

He was saying: “Anh ni mee yung?”..meaning “Did you have this already?” (Referring to his hand gestures).
After that he was asking if you had a partner or not. “Khoo” means “Partner” in this context :)

I took a 5-min taxi ride today for about 400 baht (in my local currency), I traveled about 2 kms. Transport is so cheap in Thailand.

You should make a move to the isaan provinces. Rent a car and drive around. Easy to do. No traffic problems. Like driving in the country Victorian roads. See more things

Since I've been watching this series, the desire has again been growing on me, to become a 'dead farang' as well. Be a nomad, wander and hang around. Beats our over organised and bored-to-death ways of living anyway.
Here's a book I highly recommend to you about a journalist-writer who first went to Thailand to get cheap dental care, but gradually got sucked into Thailand, eventually staying. You should read 'Bangkok Days' by Lawrence Osborne. One of the few writers who managed to express the 'feeling' of Thailand: not as a travel guide, but rather as a way of trying to explain to others the vibe of Thailand and what kept him there. Eventually he settled down in Bangkok. You'll love 'Bangkok Days' by Lawrence Osborne, you'll recognise the 'Dead Farang' in the book :-) You can order a cheap second hand copy on Amazon, and guess 'Asia Books' sells it too. Osborne also wrote 'The Naked Tourist', equally as good.

Try Langsuan markets near the river , a real Thai experience , no Farang tourists there , look up a Thai relo and stay over , plenty of mosquitoes , need the net at night .

Used to quite enjoy ending up in a place where there were no, or very few other farangs. Keep your wits about you if you go to Koh Tao, don’t want a DF MIA as can happen on that island 🤔
