    Switching bullets can take several shots before it shows the true group size. Same for powder.

    The xbolt in 6.8 western is one of my favorite guns so far! I have only shot a black bear so far but it dropped as soon as I pulled the trigger with those 175 grain game kings.

      While I'm not ready to proclaim the 6.8 as king I'm sure interested in it performance, some say it a weak 270 and I don't agree with that as a matter of fact I believe it to be a capable hunting round ( of chose) if one prefers it. I like what I see in the round but I'm sticking to 6.5 because a the range I like to hunt it is very capable and it better on the shoulder then mags. I also enjoy long range target and there's the versatility of choice personally.

    I have both 6.8 Western and a 270 WSM with a 7 1/2 twist barrel. Both shoot extremely well at 600 and 1000 yards. I reload. The three bullets I use are the 165 Nosler ABLR, 170 Berger Elite and 175 Sierra Long Range Tipped GK. I am shooting them all at nodes close to 3000 fps. I think this cartridge will be around for a while.

    Nice job capturing the force of recoil and audio was very good. That is an interesting cartridge. Might get one just for a hobby outside all the others. You have a great channel.

    The reason i went with the 6.8 was ammo availability and price i cant find anything for my 7mag nothing for my 6.5 or 300win mag so i found plenty of 175 g for decent pricing in this caliber

    I like to shoot 5 round groups because if you have a flyer you have a few more to confirm if it was a flyer, you, or reloading or a possible equipment failure 👌 NICE SHOOTING!!

    The 6.5 comes in target and trophy hunter from Hornady and some other choices as well, it's a viable hunter. I've seen it take down plenty game, I've seen a lot of calibers take game ,take your pick and I'm never against something better or new, we always need to develop even sometimes it's not enough to write home about. I like 6.5 Creedmore ,270 and 6.8 looks like it's becoming an interesting if not great hunting cartridge. I'm just not ready to write off a other calibers whenever something new comes along and I'm sure not going to bash the 6.8 because it could become the new favorite. Here's my big issue with any ammo ,there are some folks that think if it can't drop a moose at a mile out it's not worthy, if you drop a animal at three hundred yards your rifle and caliber has earned it reputation. 700 800 1000 I'm not even going there. A lot of great caliber's to smile about !

    I’m sick of new calibers that really are only better at distances most should not shoot animals at. But my biggest complaint is spreading primer, brass, power, lead thinner and thinner. This last season you could not find 270 3006 etc.

    • @AP2020_Outdoors
      @AP2020_Outdoors  Před 2 lety +2

      @Mr. Mr. Well, after being around the shooting industry for 50 years, I can tell you that "innovation" will never stop. Sure, there are a handful of calibers that will cover 99% of everyone's needs..but where is the FUN in that?? The shooting industry needs to introduce "new calibers" to stay viable and sustainable. Plain and Simple, and simple economics...

      @Houtzyboy The factory brass will occasionally have a piece of brass that is above or below the average weight = cause flyers.

    • @AP2020_Outdoors
      @AP2020_Outdoors  Před 2 lety +2

      @cobra460 no comparison! 300 Hammer is a "almost" 308Win in an AR platform. 6.8 Western will push as a 175gr 0.277 bullet FASTER which has a higher B.C. than a .308 175gr bullet from a 308Win.

    I really don't think that we need a whole lot of different calibers we already have ones that have proven themselves year after year. Opted for the 6.5 Creedmoor.. this will do anything that the bigger or smaller calibers will do inside of the United States.

      ill have to disagree respectfully Although the 270 short mag is a fantastic caliper no doubt, the knock down/impact of the 6.8 is phenomenal and superior in my opinion. I am a believer based on my shots and kills
