Join me as I explore one of the creepiest and eeriest abandoned sites I've ever visited on this channel: Lakeville Hospital in Lakeville, Massachusetts. Originally founded in 1910 as the Lakeville State Sanatorium, the hospital was dedicated to treating tuberculosis patients. This was the case up until 1949, when they began accepting other patients with chronic illnesses. By 1963, the institution rebranded to Lakeville Hospital, and began accepting mentally ill patients as well. However, just a few decades later in 1993, Lakeville Hospital would be officially closed and abandoned. Unfortunately, other than the basic details mentioned previously, it was difficult finding more specific information about this location. What we do know is that thousands of patients were accepted into this hospital over the course of 80+ years, and many of them suffered greatly. Today, many abandoned and shuttered buildings remain on the former hospital campus, including the main medical building, a children's ward, and a surgery ward, among others.
I was wicked excited to visit the abandoned Lakeville Hospital, as I had known about it for many years, but never got the chance to check it out--until now! Unfortunately, this site is slated for demolition soon, making this a very time-sensitive exploration for me as it will not exist for much longer. While there are several abandoned buildings on the campus, I only visited three of them in this video; however, I still had a blast exploring them! The Lakeville Hospital has a very creepy and eerie feeling, and I constantly felt like I was not alone (even though I was). The history of this hospital as a treatment facility for tuberculosis patients and the mentally ill also made me very aware of its dark past. Still, this was an extremely interesting site to visit, and one of my most memorable urban exploration moments! I would love to learn more about this somewhat unknown abandoned hospital! Also, I would NOT recommend coming here--this is a very dangerous site with many hazards. If you guys liked this video, make sure to stay tuned for more exploration videos all across New England!

The amount of asbestos in this building is insane
Lakeville hospital is still there even after 8 months I live in Lakeville and pass by these buildings everyday
I live in wareham been there a couple times
Is it monitored? Or is it no problem to explore
@@doctorsatan i was told there are guards that walk around but i never seen any when i was there but thst back in like 2010 and 2011 so idk about now
I love Lakeville, Almost bought a century old school house being converted to a dwelling, imagine 2 baths 2 urinals 6 toilets and a gymnasium, would have made a super day care with New England charm for the exploding bed room community as the rooftop scene shows, more green and lakes than concrete, beautiful town
Been waiting for this one!! Epic video, as always! 10/10!
Thanks man, I always appreciate the support! Means a lot!
Loving the uploads frequently! hope you have the time for fun at these places too
Thank you! I try to get out a new video every week, but sometimes I’m able to do two! It’s a lot of fun!
Wow your channel is really old
The Bridgewater triangle is no joke. The hockomock swamp is insane with activity
Just left this spot, absolutely incredible. The state of decay in the furthest building back was insane. Looks like many fires and lots of vandals have gotten this place, such a shame
DUDe same live close by use to LOVE going in there
Nice job fellow Masshole JMass. Nice to see your interest in the history of the places. Nice job kid!
Thank you so much homie! I appreciate the love!
Awesome explore JMASS! I do believe that the door definitely wasn't a ghost. There is so many drafts in the building & that door was very sensitive last time I was there. My audience thought that it was a ghost lol cheers bro! Great exploration as always
Also we should go here together, Ill show you the morgue in the north pavilion!
Ayy thanks man! Agreed, I definitely think that door was just from a draft of wind lol. Still scared me when I heard that thing slam shut for the first time! And for sure, we definitely should! I wanna check out the other buildings I missed!
Aye you finally made it there! I remember you were saying youve had the place on your radar for awhile. Dope vid
Thanks man! I’m glad to have finally made it over here!
Make great grandmother was born and raised in Lakeville year 1911. Thank you for sharing!
Very cool to see, I went in here a lot when I was younger as I lived up the street. it’s clearly had a lot of visitors since I was last there. kinda sucks but not surprised
Same dude omg i live right up the road from there
Great video bro! I really want to film here before its torn down 😢
Thanks man! It’s an awesome spot; such a shame that it won’t be up much longer.
Such a cool spot! Too bad they are taking it down. Love ur vids
Agreed, it is sad to see this place go. And thanks man, I appreciate it!
When are they taking it down
I’m not sure… fortunately, the spot is still up and nothing has been demolished yet.
@@j-mass maybe they changed their plans?
@@j-mass ya i went there like a month ago and there was like no security but my freind went the other day and said the fence got patched up and there was a horrible smell coming from the garage area that was previously closed all that aside oli notice u never have other people in your videos i would be down to explore some shi on the channel
Good evening from Cape Cod 🦈 This was really an interesting place, the amount of decay in the high rise building was shocking. The third building wasn't quite remarkable shape. Of course each building is from a different era. Seems to me the oldest structures fair better with age. Anyway thanks for another great exploration 👍✌️🇺🇲
Great video man! Love the explore! You kept mentioning “the time” you had to record, was it because night time was approaching? Curious.. Nevertheless, great vid man!
Thanks so much dude! Actually, I filmed this video in the early morning haha… I was limited on time just because I had something going on later that day, and it’s a bit of a drive from me! Will definitely be going back again soon to check out the hospital building!
Have driven by this alot in recent years, always see a Security detail out front!ITS Unreal how the Earth Reclaims things soooo Quickly!CoolVid Man 👍
As a student nurse, I trained there way back in the mid 70s! lol. There were many children there with very severe disabilities. They even had an iron lung there.
definitely gotta return there soon and check out that main hospital if they are still there i’ve seen pictures of four iron lungs, hydro therapy tubs and obviously the morgue. had a friend who was there not to long ago it’s all still standing 🙌
That’s wild! I really wanna get into that main hospital building soon, that’s high up on my list!
I was that friend… and u needa go back jmass u missed the best building
IM TRYING TO JOIN YOU BUT THE TURNING THE CAMERA SO FAST IS MAKING ME DIZZY YOU GOTTA SLOW THAT DOWN OR GET THE GIMBLE OR WHATEVER THEY CALL IT, CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM THATS ALL
That is totally fair, I appreciate that criticism! I know I have a lot to improve upon regarding my cinematography, and sometimes in my videos it can be a bit too quick. I truly do appreciate that, as that’s something I want to work on in future videos! Much appreciated, all constructive criticism is welcome!
@@j-masseverybody gotta learn and start somewhere!! It's a creative process. Just as urbexers as long as they obey the codes of
#NO DOXXING
AND LEAVE ONLY FOOTSTEPS AND TAKING ONLY PICTURES/VIDS. 😉💞
I live down the street from this place. drive by it everyday always wondered whats inside
I grew up in Lakeville. Went to all the public schools. Tragic shame the land cant be used for other things.
Rooftop view was awesome, despite the clouds.
Good vid, i was just there today i didnt go in this time i put my drone up and took some video and pics
is it still up?
@speaker_dev8227 yea I haven't heard anything about it coming down anytime soon
Okay one last comment about 5 years ago the police and SWAT team was doing a training exercise in there and some people would doing what you were doing and they came upon the SWAT team imagine that it was somewhat news in this town seeing that they all got arrested and charged with a few charges
I used to own a house in Lakeville on the Powder House golf course.
I didn't even know this existed !
omfg i live right nextt door pretty much man i wish i had known would of loved to go with yall that place is so cool there is a lot of stuff in there very creepy i been in there a few times
I'm surprised that's still there, it's been abandoned for years.
I think it is slated for demolition soon unfortunately…but it has definitely lasted a long time as is!
There's a chance if this place was used into the 90s most if not all of the asbestos has been removed or at least the asbestos in the common areas.
I was in boarding school in the 90s the buildings did have asbestos, but they were in the process of removing it.
I remember around 96 -97, it was completely gone from any areas that students or non maintenance faculty, would be in contact with it.
This one's practically my backyard I have always wanted to go but never got to
Freaking incredible, the grafton state hospital is amazing to next to job corps. Attended there 2003
I work right next to that place and I am on my way there now I go by that they took down most of the buildings and left only one unfortunately
@@SaltMinerOU812 I know, I saw that recently. The ghosts will remain
Went there about 20 yrs ago. What a difference because of decay. It used to look like if they cleaned it up, that it could reopen.
Jealous!! i bet it looked SO cool back then i remember some kids did a documentary on it about 15 to 10 years ago i think
Taunton State Hospital next!!!! & my mum's old job Fernald State School in Waltham, Mass!!!
I wish I could explore Taunton State Hospital! I think it was demolished not too long ago 😭 I tried visiting it a while back and it was gone
I worked for a roofing company back in 2014 & me and another guy did a repair there. I had to keep running back and forth from the top floor to the truck for tools and had this giant set of old dungeon looking keys i had to use to open multiple huge steel doors and man idk why but got the most uncomfortable eerie feeling going through every one of those doors that were on a bunch of empty floors. The whole place just gave me an uncomfortable feeling the second we got there. Didn't know anything about the place prior but later on decided to look it up and saw a bunch of sites that say it's haunted. I'm not much of a paranormal guy although do find it interesting and I've always wondered why tf I got such a bad vibe from that place.
Any copper left on the building?
Sad to see this place so trashed. 😢
Yeah. It used to be really cool.
CK out those Solid wood doors, probably better condition on upper floors. Those go for Big bucks.. Fire Rated Solid Birch Doors. Probably 36" wide too.
Have you seen or heard of Pondville hospital in Norfolk? I wanted to go but I hear it’s super full of mold and/or too boarded to enter and they always reboard it if someone gets in
I have heard of it! Pondville has been on my list for a while now-I just haven’t been yet because it is a pretty risky place to access nowadays, unfortunately. Hopefully soon!
@@j-mass I went and had to dodge cameras but couldn’t even get in because the place is so sealed I heard there is an entrance in the boiler house but it’s right near an active prison
Completely boarded off me and my freinds went there a month ago and tried prying of a plank but the cops rolled up and we all got trespassed bith times ive went theres been security and no way in however there is a hole in of of the roofs u coild crawl threw i dont know how u would get out tho
In 1972 March my Dad got Radiation treatment there for lung cancer. He left after 5 or 6 weeks.
There is a video by dark exploration films that shows pondville he didn’t give out the location but based on the pictures and when I was there it’s the same place in his video. I’ll link it below, considering the boiler house is still the way in.

We used to skip school and hang out in the old Worcester train station before they rebuilt it there was this dangerous catwalk that went along the roof that everybody used to walk Surprise nobody died in there but who knows maybe someone did
I worked here in high school
Always wanted to go here , is there cameras or silent alarms at all ? Also where's a good place to park ?
I did not encounter any alarms or cameras or anything while there. I parked about a 15 minute walk away from the site, I believe it was at a small park.
@@j-mass ok awesome thanks man appreciate it !
I went there a few times as a kid. Very scary place.
It really does have a creepy and eerie feeling, I felt uneasy most of the time I was there…
@@j-mass it obviously was much more intact 20 years ago but I remember the children’s ward was horrifying (we would go at dark) there were kid paintings on the walls and such. Very spooky to see the building silhouette at night. We went inside the morgue and laid in the beds. There was always security patrolling it then too so we had to move slowly and methodically.
How come government abandon property without repercussion
There must have been a Church somewhere on the property... All hospitals usually have a small church w gorgeous wood work etc
If you want to see the hospital in the property and its entirety the proper people went there a few years back
Interesting, I’ll check that out!
@@j-mass yeah they got there real early in the morning camped out a little bit and explode and they did it with work ballsy
Damn should’ve grabbed the floor plan in the elevator at 9:53 would be a cool keepsake after demolition
I've aculy have been here sick.
It's still here I saw in the new build 2023 I was there.
Reppin da 401 New England 🙌
Bro I drove all the way there and it’s fenced off. How did u get in? I wanted to check it out but you didn’t even say it was fenced off
Sorry to hear that, and yeah I did that on purpose as I prefer not to give away specifics on getting in to places. It was very challenging though, definitely not an easy spot to access.
Walk on the path next to the storage facility. Fence is broken. Boom in.
There was a dorm there for personnel
plywood on the 4th and 5th floors really? the effort alone...
Are there any abandoned places in Massachusetts that you WOULD recommend visiting?
Some places I’d definitely recommend are the Metropolitan State Hospital in Waltham, the Mount Tom Ski Area in Holyoke, and the Rutland Prison Camp in Rutland. Those ones are safe and easy to access!
@@j-mass Thanks brother, will visit
Bro,, you go in there by yourself ? You frickin Nut ? All right, New Subscriber here today, 06/12/24. Let's get at it. Watch out for Gangs, Ghosts, Cryptids, & just plain Wackos.. Stay Safe Stay Healthy and Positive my friend. Peace from Big Jim New Hampshire USA aka Boston Strong
Thanks dude! It’s dangerous going alone, but fun 😂
Gangs in Lakeville 😂😂
too bad you didn’t have anybody with you for this one, if I did something like this I’d want someone to talk to other than my veiwers(not like I do this or ever will do this 😐 or have my own veiwers) lol anyway have a great day
Door at 22:04 has me believing in ghosts
Lmfao, that had me freaking out so much. One of the creepiest moments of my urbexing career.
Theres a morgue in the basement of the hospital building
Yeah I heard about that, I wanna check that out someday soon!
peep walter e fernald school in waltham mass it’s abt 10 acres a old abandoned special needs school super famous
Do you know when the destruction starts? I want to go soon
So I filmed this in September 2023, and at the time I heard that demolition was starting very soon… nearly 6 months later and no word on that lol. So I think it’s safe to say that demolition has been delayed for a bit now, just not sure for how much longer.
@@j-mass alright thats great then lol
why can government abandon property without repercussion
They have been saying they are gonna tear it down for over like 5 years now and its still there there is also someone living in the Doctors house (the white building by the street) went in there on two different times and both times i heard someone upstairs and they shut the door REALLY fast a soon as I started walking up the stairs thought I was gonna get stabbed and its all on my go pro too i booked it out fast as hell lol should of brought a flashlight cause it was a little too dark in there for my cam :(
Yikes that’s creepy! Luckily you didn’t run into them haha, it could have been a squatter or someone dangerous! You never know who you’ll run into in those places!
@@j-mass DUDE right im way more careful now i plan on heading on over in a few weeks defiantly gonna skip that one lol
Laughing out loud about the women's bathroom 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I do hope your wearing gloves I couldn’t see if you were or not but you probably know the dangers of old things😅
Unfortunately I wasn’t haha… but you’re right, places like this are very hazardous! Gloves are definitely needed for future explorations…
Here I'll give you some local gossip about the place the actual big hospital was an actual hospital 1963 now the reason why they gave up on the property was the technology in the hospital was from 1963 1963 so once the 90s came it would have cost millions of dollars to upgrade that hospital there was no funding for that 1993 the doors closed they figured Wareham hospital in Plymouth hospital was sufficient
Oh I see, very interesting! Thank you for the details! I do remember hearing that the main hospital was much newer, but I couldn’t pinpoint when it was built. Much appreciated, it was tough finding specific information!
Sometimes when you ask the locals you'll get information you can't find in books or the that's all but I enjoy watching your channel you're down the Earth dude and I like how you present your channel rock on jmass
Yeah that video you did the other day with the building with the risky spray-painted graffiti next time you're around that ask the locals what that building was you'll find out the mysterious building
@lycan1975 Ayy thanks a ton I appreciate that! You’re right, some of the most detailed and obscure information are those I’ve gained from locals who know the area!
Yeah if I see a video that I know stuff about and you don't mention it I'll let you know but you got to be in the middleboro Lakeville Taunton area and I can assist you with information 🌮
No Ghosts im gong to haunt somewhere else
Go back there and raise the Dead get a Paranormal Investigators team.
One of my regular collaborators, Noah Faraday, went there 2 or 3 times and did paranormal investigations there!
@@j-mass well what happened.
If I’m not mistaken, he heard whisperings of voices, but nothing concrete. I believe he has two videos up on his channel (Noah Faraday) showcasing this investigation.
@@j-mass just go on a Ghost trip Let Me Know. Find paranormal expert in Massachusetts it would be fun. If you want. Good vid you made .
any one else just waiting for the zombies
😂 I was trying to find the raygun!
You should go to an abandoned place and put noise makers in the abandoned places so that it scares the next person who visits
That’s a really shitty thing to do.
See the Boston skyline 😂
You must be from New England... You used "wicked"
Massachusetts born and raised here 😂
You move the camera a little too much it makes me nauseous just slow down a little bit
Thank you for the advice! You are totally correct; I’d really like to improve upon my cinematography in future videos.
I think you might've missed the morgue! Sick vid
I did unfortunately! It’s located in the main hospital building, which I didn’t explore here. Hopefully I can come back soon and check it out!
