- Subscribing really, really helps filmmakers a great deal -.so Thank You so much if you can. This was Filmed in 2013, using Super 8 and Film Cameras, while studying Film Arts. I tell my story of coming from a now uninhabited island at the very west of Europe, my childhood there, the history of this beautiful, majestic place and what it means to me. A place of connection with nature which is beyond words.

I worked as a walking guide in Kerry back in the 90s, it is truly a enchanting place. It is a gem that reveals its beauty to you slowly, there will be days where the light works its magic over the landscape that you’ll never forget.
Now those are the truest words in this whole thread I'd say - you know the place well.

yes, it is a merciless place but so real for that, and beautiful.
Very beautiful. I lived in cumberland island national seashore where there are no store bridges mail, nothing. I had to leave when my husband died. I had 90 days to be gone. It was a life waste for his life from when they made it a national seashore. He lived there before the government came in. It was a beautiful life and dearly missed.
Sandra, that is a very, very beautiful looking island you lived on, and I'm sad on your behalf that you were given just 90 days to leave. How many people were on it when you were there?

Id have to speak with you directly to explain the complicated process it took to remove everyone.
Some in2010- some for this grandchild or this person.
Mostly, the few who were left only came around US holidays. We lived full time. Other than park rangers and greyfield inn (they weren’t really full time), I’d say after 2010, it was us and another- full time. Now, you can take into account caretakers for the homes left, etc.
the only ones left with all their eggs in one basket would have been us and another after 2010.
It truly is a 3 drink story (most likely over a few eveings). Difficult to condense it All.
@@cumberlandquiltchic1 I understand that. I live in Ireland so if you ever come here let's have those 3 drinks in a fine bar and I will look forward to it. I've been travelling a lot so now I'm back I intend to remain here. You might like Achill island in Ireland, it is rather beautiful and has a good population on it.

I've been all over Ireland and lived there for 10 years, it's a special place ❤ my great grandparents are from co wexford, I'm back in England now but I still miss the quiet peaceful Ireland and the people and the craic lol Paul in England

Thank you so much, what a nice thing to say! Yes, it is. I've visited many cities in my adult life and have been confused by life in them a great deal, though I do love Galway and Venice! If you want a good city go to them I'd say.

Very deep feelings on Blasket Mor; spent a half day on my own walking the Island, beautiful summer's day. I was suffering from a very bad hangover after a late night in Dingle. The peaceful singing of the meadow pippets and the spirits of these great people brought me deep into myself. When leaving the island I was completely renewed; hangover gone and my woes had lifted and were taken away on the sweet Atlantic breeze

Beautiful peacefu l enjoyable scenery but scenery doesn't put breád on the table as I have experenced
yes, those who lived here worked very hard, and those who come to live here each summer also work hard. The island demands it. There is no place for laziness here, the geography and the mountain and the weather makes sure of that, and this is one of the things I most like about it!
