I went to Mount Dora with my mom for the first time in December of 2006 on a bus tour and indeed it is a beautiful and historic place.
I am absolutely blown away by your commentary, video editing, music soundtracks that you made yourself, WOW...all I can say is...WOW(so green with envy!) And I get to see things I would never see in my lifetime. At first I thought your videos were way too long, but you really do make them sooo interesting, I get sucked into watching them all the way through. and I do mean this as a compliment. BRAVO! Very well done!

Five years later I found this video. Great subject, whenever visiting family in the Orlando area I would always borrow a car and come up to Mount Dora, so relaxing. Now that I'm retired, maybe it's a place to consider, so calming.

Thanks Robert for letting me know about Dora Canal. I have been crossing it for years whenever I visit my Mom. Even taken pictures from the side of the road (on the north end of it) and never realized where it went!
Restaurants understaffed and overcrowded, that's been my experience the times I've been in Florida. The most popular places always seem to be like that. We usually seem to find a nice out of the way place that usually turns out to be really good.

I recently came across your channel... totally enjoying your travels. Central Florida is my old stomping grounds, born and raised in Winter Garden. I lived in Mnt. Dora for a while so I really enjoyed this one. Growing up my family traveled all over the state, I had friends from Miami to Jacksonville, but most were in central FL.

Once more, I am enjoying your travels right through the county (Highlands) where I live. Also my daughter lived in Mt. Dora for a few years. Thanks for the tour. There are alternative train tours at Halloween and Christmas that are more interesting and picturesque. The Thomas Train also visits at times.

+just me Thanks. It is a very quaint little town. If you go in the RV try to stay at Trimble Park. Much more closer and I hear nicer. That was my first choice but is was already full that week.

Just found your videos tonight Robert, while looking for RVing in Florida. We are from Southern Ontario and absolutly love Mt Dora area. we come down for 2 weeks in April, and our rental comes with a pontoon boat to discover the Harris chain of lakes. including Lake Dora. We also spent 4 winters in our 5th wheel down there. Keep up the videos, great to see the Florida sunshine etc, while its snowing like crazy out, as it is right now. Thanks for sharing.

Just saw this pop up in recommended and hadn't seen it yet! Coincidentally, just last night I was watching on old family tape we'd converted off of VHS onto digital, of a family trip to Mount Dora in 2000. Cool to see what's changed in that time!

I live in the mobile home park at the entrance to the Dora Canal (15:30) and I never knew it was built on top of a Seminole Indian camp. I knew that it had been a fish camp & trailer park back in 1950 with a beach along the canal. Now it's a lot of old trailers. You learn something new everyday!

I stayed at the Tropical Palms this past March while in Orlando for some sporting events (golf, baseball). Very busy/crowded campground, but well maintained. Price is high but compared to other campgrounds, affordable. Nice video -enjoyed it.

Wonderful. The Mount Dora art festival is always nice too, although you need to get there early since it gets more crowded every year. Next time at Pointe Orlando, I suggest BB Kings. They've got great live jazz and it's always a great time.

S Canales Rivera if you move go to Punta Gorda. It's beautiful. And only half hour to Englewood and Vinese beaches. Low crime.
As a Mt Dora resident from North Jersey, I can absolutely day this is a great town to move to. Copacabana has the best Cuban food in C. FL. 😋

Really enjoyed this video Robert, we visit from the UK and have a home in Kissimmee (for 9 years). If you pass through the area on the US 27 try to stop in at Lake Mineola at the Tiki Bar on the lakeside for a gorgeous sunset. It's about 1/2 a mile past the Citrus Tower at Clermont.Tony.

hey robert. i love ur videos. i just started watching them. at: 38:31 u show a hotel. its called The Castle. i was there a month ago celebrating my 50th birthday with my 2 daughters and son in law. i had a great time. was so serprised to see u had been around there. thank u for ur beautiful videos.
Your video popped up as a suggestion and so glad I watched! This is my neck of the woods and really enjoyed your perspective of the area. If you head back this way, try Fiesta Grande for some great mexican food. Plus I prefer Las Palmas over Copa any day.

Yes, Mount Dora is really cool... the whole area. The KOA was meh, but it was the only thing available in late December
We have been following you on our family account for a very long time, but this account is new as we are getting ready to full time. But, just have to tell you that my husband bought your song and we have to either play it or hubby will sing it as we begin each trip for weekends or vacations. Hi Robert...great video, as usual. Now I really want to go check out Mount Dora when we are back in Florida (Dec 2019). By the way, Tropical Palms Resort is where our cottage is located so it was fun seeing you film some of the park. I was hoping you would go past our cottage and get some footage of it ,but alas you did not! Oh well, still enjoyed watching.

The news lately has been so jarring, that I had to come back and take the river ride with ya. I am calm now. I love your cool jazzy "undermusic" too. I chill out to your laid back mood and sounds. If you never went anywhere besides Florida, I'd say you should rename ur videos to "the anhinga channel" lol. It's easy to love Florida but you're making me love other places too.

Update,they trains were moved to St. Mary's Georgia due to the high cost of maintaining and repairing the tracks which they are going to convert into walking and biking trail,no big loss really.
2 things, first you said you were getting 10/to the gallon while towing that awesome mini rv that’s rough and 2end you said you go sometimes to central FL area’s have you ever driven and saw Lake Underhill ,Orlando, FL ? If not yet I highly recommend seeing that lake it very nice

you were still in Kissimme, Osceola County a ways from Orlando. Old Town is between Kissimmee and Celebration, close to Disney but not on Orlando, Orange County.
I tend to call the whole area Orlando but of course you're right

Doesn't Ft Pierce have one of the original FEC ( Fl EastCoast Rail) engines being restored. It ran the track to Key West in the 1912-35 era before the BIG 200mph storm ?

I wanted to volunteer when I visited my daughter in Boynton Beach… I think they do restoration on Saturdays ? The engine was one that made the trip to Key West on the FE that Flagler built ( 1912-1935)….track got destroyed in 200 mph wind. Your videos often have the original track / bridge in the background. The old bridge was used in True Lies movie.
