Paul: "everyone messed up but me!"
Gene: "everyone messed up but me because I am a perfect being!"
Peter: "they were all F-ups!"
Ace: "we were all F-ups!"
Amen
Yup
Agreed
Paul ....Kiss my ass!!
Genius!
I’m sure being sober around Paul Stanley is a challenge
🤘😂🤘
Lol
lmaooo
Well Paul is focused... some people cannot deal with that.
Focused, on being a narcissistic sociopath asshole, who bashes a living legend drummer and guitarist!!! Pathetic, team Peter and Ace always
Mr. Speed was an awesome, underrated song.
My 2nd favorite KISS song
Yes, it was. Absolutely replayed it over and over again.
Peter singing Black Diamond live is about the best KISS performence ever
Nothin to Lose live is great too.
Black Diamond is my favorite!!!
Paul was the best singer in KISS, but best voice? 100% Peter, all day.
LOLZ
yup....
Paul can't handle that so many famous musicians credit Ace as being the guy that made them want to play music you never hear that claim about Paul
Exactly. No one ever credits Paul or Gene as their inspiration as musicians. Gene's bass playing doesn't go beyond root-towing four or five notes, and Paul's playing is Nirvana-levels of basic rhythm.
Absolutely!! You get tired of Gene and Paul's shtick. Watching the Live footage of Kiss from the 70's, it was Ace that always fascinated me.
Paul made women want to wear lycra leotards with head and wrist bands and do work out videos to really horrible 80s commercial music
He was their role model 🤣
Paul always had a fem side
@@warthogA10 Hilarious!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Ace totally inspired and fascinated me. Him and that Les Paul made me want to play music.
"Rock & Roll Over" is definitely one of my top 5 KISS albums.
I agree, it is in my top 30.
Baby Driver is a monster song so stick it up yer' Arse Paul
My top
One of my favorites from them for sure.
I read Ace's book and he really didn't rag on anyone. All Paul can do is piss and moan how everybody was just screwing His career up!!!
🤠... and why does the guy feel the need to piss and moan, when he lived his dream? Or so he says.
For real, shits over anyway…or are there more books or releases coming? lol jeez
Paul Stanley is nothing but a ego maniac. Anyone that takes the limelight off him
@@user-ro9oo5ee9tBRO!! What Rockstar is NOT? 😂😂😂
Yeah. It’s slim.
Rock and roll over is one of my favorite KISS albums
If I was Ace I would’ve sedated myself too, being around Stanley must of been a challenge.
Poor Paul!!! Everyone around him was incompetent and he was the only thing that held it all together. He truly is a hero in his own mind!!!
Exactly, must be nice to be perfect. Another 10 minutes and he would've talked shite about Gene.
He was the only thing that held it all together. Hello?? Kiss would’ve been finished decades ago otherwise
Ace is the only member of Kiss I actually like, but he wasn’t the type to hold a band together. If anything, he should have left the band a couple albums earlier
You obliviously did not read the book he ripped on himself far more
I know but it is true about Peter..even bob. erzin said so
C'mon Paul, Ace was a blessing...you had the best guitarist, Ace was pure genius.
I"TOTALLY" AGREE "💯💯👍 YEAH!!
Facts.
Ace had “it”…..he was so spaced out that he was likable and as a soloist I’ve always thought that his solos were fluid, melodic, hummable, and his vibrato was perfect
Paul is so worried about the others outshining him when he really shouldn't...because they can't outshine him...face it he wrote some of the greatest rock n roll songs ever written...he should be satisfied with that. But he almost spoils his own greatness by not realizing his own greatness. You don't need to put the others down to make yourself look great Paul...you are great!
Ace IS one of the greats! I don't think I've seen a band rag on ex band mates publicly the way Kiss does.
As much as I love their music, entertainers are the biggest prima donnas of all time.
Have you heard of Dave Mustaine?
@@ObsidianLife Dave is in the running, but Paul & Gene wrote BOOKS complaining about Ace & Peter..
@@yourdrummer2034 ...True, but it doesn't exactly seem like Ace and Peter were angels...
Amen.
Ever notice it's never Paul's fault for anything.
I met Eddie Kramer. He told me that on Alive!, there were tons of overdubs, but Peter's drums were all live, no overdubs. He also said Peter had the best singing voice of the four.
Is that you, Peter Criss?
Just facts!!! Peter had the best voice in the band and very unique voice and powerful and soulful!!!! Catman
Common knowledge. 👍
You didn't need to meet Eddie Kramer to know that.
@@hi-ccowboy7983 I know, Einstein. From the horse's mouth to me is all.
Paul says Peter was a "moaner", but Paul is even bigger in that department. He hasn't let up on the slugging of Ace and Peter for 22 years. This clip is evidence of that.
Yes, he never takes his foot off their throats so to speak.
Peter (admittedly) can be moody or short-tempered, but he was never mean-spirited to anyone, and never went around slagging the rest of the planet.
Ace is still writing and recording great new music. Kiss has not done that for decades.
It's common sense now, that Ace saved his stuff for his solo album, but whiny Paul can't deal with the fact that Ace's album is by faaaar the best one of the 4!
I don't disagree but Paul's solo album was solid. I agree that ragging on your partners isn't cool.
Gene's album was by far the best, his has the same musicians and producers who made Meatloafs Bat out of Hell album, it's head and shoulders more professional sounding than the other 3.
Todd Rundgren produced and played guitar on Bat Out of Hell. He also did background vocals and many other duties. Todd had nothing to do with Gene's solo album.
I’m pretty sure Paul couldn’t care less that Ace had the best solo album (according to some). That was 45 years ago. Can only imagine how devastated he is after ending their career in arenas while Ace plays clubs.
The other 2 solo albums sucked big time, Stanley had some real soppy stinkers on his and Frehley proved he could have been so much more if he had sobered himself up. Nice to see he finally went out with a pro quality backing band decades later
Even if Ace was conscious for even 20 mins a day, to have someone that has created some of the most memorable guitar patterns and solos in rock history is worth to keep in my opinion.
Yes, absolutely 💯 true!
Even though he didn't play or write a lot of them
Yes, Ace was so inept that his is the only solo album anyone listened to 3 months after it was purchased.
I listened to all of them. And I did not find any of them being particularly amazing. It was not like the Beatles who all produced amazing albums both together and solo. It was obvious that KISS was better as a band. Like WAY better.@@repentnow1720
@@repentnow1720 And the best song on it was written by Russ Ballard of Argent
Without Peter or Ace,Paul would be a nobody instead of somebody.
I wonder if Peter hears Paul say "Peter Criss would never be John Bonham" and thinks "Well, you ain't exactly no Robert Plant, either, Paul"...
😂😂😅 GD' ONE!! 😅😊😊
Ain't no Jimi Hendrix neither.
he's better than Robert Plant
@@swine74 At applying pancake, yes...
He's much closer to Robert plant than criss is to bonham.
I'm very conservatives and straight edge. I don't get upset with Gene and Paul wanting things professional and not messed by drugs and booze. At the same time I think it's very clear Gene and Paul are very upset and jealous that Ace is clearly the best musician of the group and the biggest hit the group ever had was from Peter.
I am conservative too and I generally believe people get what they deserve, and what they earn. I am not a fan of the band, especially of the jew half. But I believe sometimes things work out the way they do for unknown reasons. I'm glad both Ace and Peter got their due. Money isn't everything.
"We were lucky if we could get a solo out of Ace before he passed out." Even luckier that every solo Ace recorded with them was a perfect little composition, filled with style and flare, and not a wasted note. I don't think Ace ever recorded a throwaway solo for them. Each one was memorable.
Have you heard the ones they threw away?
Yes, Aces solos and playing are excellent. All of the original members did a great job and cemented THE sound of KISS! They made it together.
If you hear the face melting solo on "Rocket Ride", you realise Ace was worth every paycheck.
Id rather spend a day With Ace than a week with Paul
Why the CONSTANT need to tear down Peter and Ace is beyond me. I think deep down Paul is angry because he knows how much of the fanbase loves Ace and Peter more than him. Give credit where credit is due. Maybe Peter takes longer than you...truth is....nobody...not even Paul sounds better than Peter on Hard Luck Woman.
Every rockstar from the 80s and 90s Called Ace Frehley their guitar hero. You don’t hear a lot of people saying they became a guitar player because of Paul Stanley, or Gene Simmons.
I think the only people Gene inspired to take up the bass were the ones that said "hell, is that all there's to it?I can do that!"
No guitar player ever says he was inspired by a bass player to play guitar ! And Paul is it a soloist, he’s a frontman who plays rhythm guitar and jumps and prances around onstage…we call that a “front man”…..
Because they are not!
My goal is to be happier and more at peace with life than Paul is at his age. His personality is a bigger problem for him than Peter Criss ever was
AMEN brother, AMEN!
Rock and Roll Over, A+. What a great album. That is my favorite studio disc by KISS Mark 1.
Peter's drumming was great and gave Kiss their swing and down to earth rock & roll sound. If Paul is too high on himself to even admit that, there's not much to be done to put him back in touch with reality.
Admit it or not, KISS cemented their legend in the years 1973-1978; beyond that, though not all bad by any means, what they produced afterwards on its own would not have changed that fact much, one way or the other!..
100%. 73-78 is the core of the work.
Oh yes!
Actually, with the exception of Ace's solo album, you can leave out 1978.
@peterpaul Absolutely, as Ace’s masterpiece solo debut was indeed my only impetus for including 1978!..
I always said the same thing. 1st 3 albums were groundbreaking. Great Rock n roll, but after was about making money and putting songs on the radio
Peter Criss is my favorite KISS member. 1970's KISS is the only albums i own.
Unmasked?
Fact!
@@ACDZ123 Unmasked is a classic.
I think that is what killed Gene and Paul. Peter and Ace were huge fan favorites and it ate them up with jealousy.
@@bobgomez9481 yer true 👍
My very first album ever! Been listening to it since I was a kid in the 70's, and never get tired of it to this day
The story of KISS as a band goes through all of the best movie or book genres: A thriller, comedy, drama, romance, sleaze, mystery and above all a soap opera. There are plenty of bands with interesting histories but KISS are one of the most fascinating and they are a great example of how difficult it is to get the top and remain there.
That live scene at 1:45 captures the essence of Kiss at their best. Pause it and take a look at the crowd when the camera pans out. Every kind of person, completely absorbed in the moment.

Paul is still bashing Ace and Peter since 20 years
Você que dizer que o Ace vive atacando o Paul Stanley né ou você não vê ou finge que é cego
Peter’s heart and soul is jazz drumming. That rarely converts to the hard rock sound Paul wanted.
And it took them that long to work that out?
Not Jazz but Swing and Big Band; Peter was a swing and big band style drummer and it fit with the stuff KISS was doing at that time.
As for Paul saying Peter didn't play a musical instrument, Drums are the Oldest Musical Instrument in History but they are Not a String or oral used instrument.
PS Paul and Gene have Always whined about everybody in KISS except themselves.
Bill Ward was heavily influenced by jazz just like Peter Criss
John Bonham and Ian Paice were also massively influenced by jazz drummers like Max Roach. That’s why all those guys sounded so great.
Peter Criss was great for Kiss, playing wise at least.
And Paul Stanley was hardly a virtuoso…
Peter even took lessons with GeneKrupa!
Rock and Roll Over was the best KISS album ever! Great Ace guitar! Great Paul vocals!
Paul you don't need to be a jerk or jealous of the attention your other band mates get that you don't ...the bottom line is that you've written some of the coolest greatest rock n roll songs of all time!
What i've always gotten, Gene and Paul wanted to be the band's puppeteers. Have complete control over what gets heard and recorded
It was a band and paul thinks he was the only one contributing.
I got news for you Paul, Baby Driver is one of my all time favorite Kiss song's.
Baby driver is pure garbage...
Baby Driver is a RIPPER!!! Gun it momma
YEP!
at school, they used to say "Kiss is Piss without Peter Criss"
I really feel that the Nightmare was the malignant narcissism of Gene and Paul
Rock n roll Over is one of the best Kiss album, and all members, Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter do an excellent musical job in that recording, and it's so tight. Peters drumming is excellent and groovy and great sounding. Recording process in studio is a hard work, and the result in the specific Rock n Roll Over is GREAT. Just listen to that album, now THAT is THE sound of REAL KISS!
Kiss is to music what professional wrestlers are to acting.
Paul waited until everyone else wrote or cowrote their autobiographies then he wrote his to have the final say. You can be sure he skimmed over the other ones then counter pointed their stories
Paul should get one of those t-shirts that says “Born to kvetch”.
They recorded that album in my home county of Rockland in Nanuet NY.
You don't need any more enemies when you have Paul and Gene as bandmates.....
Paul is the one you really gotta watch out for, Gene's bark is way worse than his bite. Paul is cattier than all nine of Peter's lives combined.
When i see Videos from the Concerts around 1976-78 ! I think Ace or Peter were at the Top of their Game ! I really enjoy to see these Concerts around 1976-78 👍
they didn’t play a single concert in 1978
They did !
Japan 1978 (again after 1977)
I love that a new sound is great so one one gets stuck in the same old stuff .
True, Peter could never be John Bonham. But he could sure as hell jammed with Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, etc.
No. Not even close.
@@mickeyflick9664😂
And Bonham would have been in the audience bobbing his head along and smiling. Truly great drummers listen to and love a boatload more than they generally bring to their band styles.

It's amazing how often Paul builds himself up by tearing down others.
Peter and Ace are just as important as Paul and Gene.
Yeah Peter Criss and Ace frehley where nightmares all the way to the bank right Paul and Gene.
As a Professor of Logic @ the University of Science, I’m going to say that Paul Stanley doesn’t own a doghouse
I think Paul has a serious case of punishment envy with Peter and Ace
And if they don't believe you - just ask Paul!
It is interesting hearing all of the guys talk about what is was like. Remember there are two sides to every story and the truth will fall somewhere between them. Be glad we got to be part of the hottest band in the world, enjoy the ride.
Mr. Speed is an amazing song
I learned the hard way that play time doesn't go with work time. Work first, party later after your day is done.
I wouldn't call being a musician actual "work".
Destroyer was the KISS version of 'Welcome to My Nightmare'.
I've always said that! Flaming youth, department of youth. Both of them are the most Bob Ezrin sounding records ever.
Should have named themselves Narcissist but keep the lightning bolt SS
Without Peter and Ace Kiss would have not existed. They were the ones that made Kiss thrive
For sure
Sorry KISS band has always Been Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons 6:36
@@annwilkiemeyer3433 and how were they doing before Ace & Peter joined?
They surely continued without Peter & Ace…. If Ace & Peter were the great musicians people claim they are , they would have been much more successful than Paul & Gene….. Ace & Peter could have been much better but let stardom go to their heads. They never grew as musicians. Paul definitely acknowledged Ace’s musicianship. But Ace ‘s head blew up. I love Ace but his guitar playing basically stagnated not long after he left KISS. He could have and should have become a much better musician.

Next to "Alive", "Rock & Roll Over" is my second favorite KISS album.
"I spent my whole life dreaming of being in the studio"..... what happened to that??? 2 albums in 20 years...
It doesn't benefit his bank account to put out new albums when nobody buys them. He makes money playing the old stuff. KISS was a nostalgia act for it's last 30+ years complete with Ace and Peter lookalikes.

Bob Ezrin was such a godsend to so many rock bands of the 70’s? His production qualities were unmatched.
Love Bob Ezrin. His work on "Destroyer", Alice Cooper "Billion Dollar Babies" and Pink Floyd "The Wall" is incredible and made their best albums.
Also Janes Addiction and Peter Gabriel@@H-mu4bo
Bob brought in Dick Wagner and together they pretty much wrote 90% of Destroyer. Bob took a full credit on DRC and a partial on Beth while Dick took a full on flaming youth and agreed on a studio salary for the rest of the albums guitar work.
Never a mention by Paul..lol
Bob really doesn’t get recognized for the amazing writing, playing & top notch production that he sort of “ghosted” into these projects.
Paul did hold it together. Between Ace and Peter's personal issues and then Gene wanting to be Madonna for awhile, Paul Stanley was there holding on to what they had. Had he let go for even a second the whole thing would have flown off in all directions and would have never been able to piece it back again.
I understand Paul’s frustrations with Ace and Peter, and I honestly see a lot of truth in what he narrates in his book, but I feel he could’ve done it with a lot more class and respect to both of them.
100% man! Of course the drugs and the problems and the tensions were real. But so is Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons' forever passive-aggressive bitterness and negativity toward Ace & Peter -- after the fact! I mean, it's not like either of them stopped P&G from becoming multi-millionaires. 'Nuff said...
We get it Paul,, you are the only musician in the world!!!
"Check out Paul Stanley's latest audio book 'Verbally Raping Former Pals'".
When Paul says Peter is no Jon Bonham I thought YES! And you Paul are no Jimmy Page on the guitar and definitely couldn't come close to Robert Plant. Dude was so full of himself he actually thinks he could compare to Led Zeppelin?!
I think that LZ are more overrated than Kiss. Jimmy Page is a average player and Plant with his cries and oeh oeh in every song. Very boring and dated. Plus Kiss exist 50 years, and LZ? Speak alone the number of albums Kiss has more made than LZ. But every one his of her taste.
It didn't matter to the vast majority of '70s Kiss fans that Destroyer was "different," because the first two albums those fans heard were Alive and Destroyer. For me, it was "Rock And Roll All Nite," then various Destroyer songs at junior high sock-hops, then the album Destroyer that I bought, then Alive. I forgot if I bought Rock And Roll Over or The Originals after that. As for the drum sound, they did eventually achieve that big drum sound on "Larger Than Life," and then on the Creatures album with Eric Carr. Maybe they finally found the correct production techniques by then.
Hate the production of creatures..
Man wish I was perfect like paul😏
Peter didnt play any instruments? Last time i checked the drums were an instrument.
How often do you check? Weekly? Bi-weekly? Etc
My first album ever and to this day my favorite KISS album. Nobody ever talks how it is one of the best, clearest recordings ever. Gibsons through a Marshall can't be beat. You can hear every instruments separation. I often wonder if this was recorded on vacuum tube equipment since that is always the clearest, crispest analogue way to go. Zero polish.
Hey “Frontman”, ACE can out jam you on that Les Paul any day. ANY DAY !

It's weird what he's saying about Ace here, because I seem to recall in the Kisstory book them saying that Ace was very involved when making Rock & Roll Over and was happy to be working with Eddie Kramer again. As for Peter, I think Paul was/is just jealous of him.
Yeah, I mean Paul will always legend (especially 2 himself). But, it must’ve bugged him to no end that Peter singing a soft ballad vs his screeching for notes is what gave em a chart topping hit

It IS absolutely maddening to be around people who are constantly high or drunk when you are sober, particularly in a creative environment.
It's called rock and roll, especially in the 70's. Paul and Gene are a couple of old ladies. Aerosmith are the kings of excess, and their best albums were done while loaded. Granted, it is unsustainable, but I'll take those albums over their "sober" albums.
