Modern Design for Light and Space

When designing a house our ambition is always that our clients will feel a sense of awe and an emotional, sensory response to their home. A sense of drama creates a place where people long to be, and the best drama is created when the beauty of nature meets modern architectural design, when light meets space. Bringing the outdoors inside through floor to ceiling windows, sliding glass walls, and unobstructed skyline views adds light and space, and the exhilarating feeling of living both indoors and outdoors at once. Open volumes create a sense of spaciousness, and bring light to indoor living spaces, creating a feeling of weightlessness and floating when glass walls are used. When topped with skylights, central volumes become atrium-like spaces that flood lower floors with natural light, and double-height ceilings studded with ribbon windows dapple sunlight below. There is utility, and then there is artistry. At W^R we start with the people who will occupy the space… and we start with light and space.
