  • Osteoarthritis (also known as OA) is a common joint disease that commonly affects middle-aged to elderly people.
    It is also referred to as "wear and tear" of the joints because it causes damage to the cartilage, bone, and surrounding tissues.
    What happens in osteoarthritis, is that the cartilage between the bones in the joint breaks down. This causes the affected bones to slowly get bigger as they rub on each other.
