Gary Emsweller owns a unique Massey Harris Tractor which was used by the United States Army. Only 25 of these Massey Harris I-162s were built in 1953 and is only 1 of about 8 still known to exist.
The tractor is based off the Massey Harris Model 30, but with some modifications which includes magneto with 24 volt ignition system.

My dad and I finished restoring a 1949 30 Standard. Looks just like the tractor in the video. Except of course Massey red and no magneto.
In addition to the I-330 in the background, M-H also built an I-244.
These are very interesting tractors, and I have always wondered about them. The I-330 was built at a time when the 55 was in production, but used the earlier 203's 330 cubic inch Continental 6 cylinder flathead engine in the 55's chassis and sheet metal instead of the 55's 386 cubic inch Continental 4 cylinder overhead valve engine.
The I-244 used a 244 cubic inch Continental 6 cylinder flathead, like the earlier 102 Senior for distillate, whereas the I-244 appeared to be a purely gasoline tractor. The 226 cubic inch flathead 6 cylinder Continental-powered 44-6 was out of production by this time, and only the 44 with a 4 cylinder 260 cubic inch Continental remained.
The 30, of course, never had an overhead valve engine, so the I-162 doesn't deviate as much from the base model tractor as the I-244 and I-330 units.
It is strange that the Army or Navy seemed to specify rather outdated Continental flatheads over contemporary Continental overhead valve engines. I always wondered why they did this. Was it because Army or Navy mechanics were so familiar with flathead engines like in the Willys Jeep? Or because the flathead tractors would have a lower center of gravity?

Very interesting I just finished restoring a 1947 Massey Harris model 20 not many of these left anymore .I am always interested in Massey Harris machinery.

It looks like this Tractor has a Flathead Engine probably the same Block as a 20 or a 30. 124, 140, or 162 Block. That’s a guess.
May I suggest you look up Garry Wilson outside Cornwall Ontario. He has a very large Massy Harris collection. In his collection is a MH GP plus 1/4 scale working models (with implements) that he hand built. It would make for a very interesting video. Cheers

It’s a 1954 MH I-330 made for the U.S. Navy. I believe only 6 were made and it is the only one that exits today.
I have a Massey Harris 33 sitting in my shed collecting dust. It runs and has good rubber on it. Wanting to make room for regular use equipment. Sure can make a good deal. Located in central Wisconsin. Reply to this and we can connect.

I think I have a rare piece of machinery, myself. a 1967 Sears, Craftsman, Sears/Craftsman, or Dynamark lawn tractor with an 11hp Briggs in it paired with a 36 or 38 inch deck. all I know is that it's old and I don't really know what brand it is

Mostly from what I've seen over the last several decades is the purchase of commercially available models (for general use such as mowing, etc). Most "military" tractors though are mostly used by Engineers - like the backhoes previously mentioned. So not really "farm tractors" per. se. More like the "industrial" models.
