      I always found it striking that he would button his shirt all the way up with no tie. Of all the wacky costumes that the Doctor has ever had (looking at you, Colin Baker), that tiny detail is the aspect of Capaldi’s Doctor costume that fascinated me the most.

      @@danthomassoloSort of why this incarnation was known for being “no thrills”, and “no nonsense.”
      That’s deliberate, to make you see he’s not messing around or being quirky this time round like 11, where he had his bowtie.
      He outgrew them in this incarnation.

    • @ctwofirst6635
      @ctwofirst6635 Před 2 měsíci

      I didn't vote and I'm glad I didn't. I used to think other people were cynical when they said we mustn't encourage them. In their vainglorious pretensions to rule us. Not Peter Capaldi. He's an actor and a damn fine Doctor. But I don't need to hear the Doctor spouting politics. Look up 'Veil of Ignorance' - the idea used by the Doctor when dealing with the Zygons. Then maybe we can have a real discussion about climate change. The REAL Doctor doesn't need to do politics. He's way above politics.

    I really want to protect our natural environment, and ensure we have the energy we need to power our country long into the future. We cannot do both in any meaningful way, without significant investment into nuclear power (especially small modular reactors).
    Solar and wind power require colossal mines, and long, complex, transnational logistical routes to make and bring the panels and wind turbines. The UK does not have enough useable daylight for the majority of the year, and turbines alone cannot provide the grid with enough reliable energy.
    We need to invest in homegrown technologies that can provide clean energy; in the interim, we need to invest in nuclear power, and in building safe nuclear waste repositories, like those in Scandinavia.

      @simonengland6448 bro you came here to argue in bad faith, I don’t know what you expected from people? When your immediate response to climate change concerns and potential deaths is “actually my comfort trumps your signalling” how were you expecting people to engage with that? Your goal was to say something that would get an inflammatory response from someone so you could play the victim. It’s pathetic.

    • @thomasandrewclifford
      @thomasandrewclifford Před 2 měsíci +5

      The UK is historically both capitalist and socialist. Any other view is ignorance. What we can say is the current state of our energy is dangerously exploitative and it impacts our healthcare system, our economy AND the environment. Letting international companies profit from our abusively high gas bills needs to end. Nationalize it or put limits in place I don't care. It just needs to happen. We need more policy that is more common sense and less pandering to either left or right. The media's fearmongering of LGBTQ or migrants has to end because it distracts people from the real offenders when it comes to who is really stealing from the working class. It's not the gay person or the foreigner looking for a better life. If it were about migrants then the tories would have done something about it instead of doing nothing and keeping them around to scape goat their own crimes.

      @@thomasandrewclifford hey thats a good point actually. from first glance it just looks like they dont have a plan but when you look deeper, yeah their goals actually do seem promising and not pandering to any group of people but rather the greater good. i think the green party could definitely do more explanation of the kinda point you just made. i do think they can be somewhat vague in their wording sometimes though i must admit
