Balenciaga Spring 25 Collection

Balenciaga’s Spring 25 show occurred at nightfall at the Museum of Art Pudong. The runway was held outdoors in a twilightscape with a view to the bund and Shanghai’s iconic skyline.
Spring 25 introduced super-elongated, vertical silhouettes inspired by Shanghai Pudong high-rises and deconstructed new hourglass shapes. It also featured experimental semi-couture and couture dresses.
Accessories such as platform metalhead boots and layered platform sneakers were also inspired by Shanghai Pudong skyscrapers. Pieces from the Balenciaga | Under Armour collaboration and a limited-edition Balenciaga I Alipay T-shirt were presented and are now available in exclusive release format.

That's exactly what I thought! Bladerunner came to mind, with the weather, the city itself glowing in neon, and the clothes and even the styling on the models themselves lent themselves to that idea.

I finally understand Balenciaga's aesthetic, a very wintery spring illuminated thanks to the contrast generated by the flash of textured colors. This work is magic, there is an exact connection between time and space.

The inspiration is raw, the designs are fresh, and the presentation is impeccable...lots of cultural references, and I personally love the use of neutral colors such as black, white, and grey with occasional hints of colors like vibrant red & signature pink...making the entire collection timeless and worth the investment beyond just a season a two. Maybe the silhouettes aren't for everyone, but that's exactly the point.
