The Villages of Nisyros - Nikia, Emborios, Paloi

This video documents the three main settlements in Nisyros island, in Dodecanese, Greece. They are Nikia, Emborios and Paloi.
Nikia and Emborios are both built on the edges of the caldera (and thus both having a great view of the Nisyros volcano). In Nikia the main sight is the central square, which is the only square in Greece that has an elliptical shape. In the entrance of Emborios you can find a small cave where the heat from the volcano has created a natural sauna. Emborios remained abandoned for many years, but in recent times has witnessed an increase in interest and the restauration of many of its houses. The fishing village of Pali is located a few kilometers from the capital of the island Mandraki and is well known for its sandy beach and fish tavernas. A lot of private boats dock there everyday during the summer.
