This game is so fun to play i have actually nothing to do anymore but am still playing this game im just farming trinkets it feels so satisfying
Word of mouth will improve when it goes on sale. Lot of people wrote the game off for shallow reasons.
I am Ghost of tsushima player, i got Rise of the Ronin on launch day, i Put the game on the hardest difficult ( wich i do play on Ghost of tsushima) i know you Get a hardest one by finishing the game ( wich i didnt finish yet ) anyways, i got BEAT down by the game that almost made me quit the game, i decided i needed to sleep and came back the next day after work, im not gonna lie, i spent an whole 2 hours in the dojo Just parrying until i understood a little bit to advance, days later, its the most amazing experience i ever had in years!
The game isn't worth full price. It is a solid $40 & under title.
I think the $70 price tag did a lot of that, there a certain expectations with a $70 price it screams AAA and while the game is fun it’s not worth $70 imo when we know it’ll go down to atleast $40 in 2 months -just looks at infinite wealth and persona 3-. Coupled with Ghost of Tsushima being advertised at the same time with the PC release it just looked like an uglier version of that.
@@LaOrzeka I played on normal 1st playthrough it was still challenging but not too difficult,I'd recommend it
@@DistinctionDino a price tag is completely irrelevant to how good a game is.
I have over 160 hours into the game. Needless to say, I love this game.
Nahh fr im at 192 hours in 😂😂😂
I'm tempted to buy it. Is it anything like Way of the Samurai?
@@Hb_mke93 To me, Way of the Samurai is probably one of the best comparisons to this game. If you enjoyed Way of the Samurai, like I did, you would enjoy this. Remember in Way of the Samurai you could fight other players Ronins randomly walking the streets, I was shocked to see Rise implemented the same concept. Also, like way, you can straight kill or use blunt weapons to knock out combatants. Actually, the story is almost a 1 to 1 replica of Way of the Samurai 4 story. Foreigners entering Japan and some not openly receiving them.
I enjoyed this games story, the combat is crazy fun, I’m obsessed with the character customization and graphics are not horrible like people try to make it seem. I’ve lived in the eras of PS2/PS3, this is far from that.
@@raisil11 thanks might pick this over stellar blade then. And yeah I could care less about the graphics as long as the game is fun ))
@@Hb_mke93 yeah man no problem. I don’t know too much about Stellar Blade, just seen bits and pieces of it so I definitely won’t knock it but I personally know Rise has been a very fun game to play. At least to me for sure. As a huge fan of Samurai/Ninja themed stuff, this definitely hits the mark for me.
I initially passed this game up because of the reviews. But man they did not give this game a fair shake. Its fantastic! My coworker fell in love with it and highly recommended it. Been playing ever since!
No, you didn't give it a fair shake by listening to the obvious propaganda against this game and in favor of the Dogma BS that came out the same day.
@@PhenomenalHebrew agreed. I actually still haven't played DD2 haha
I'm happily glad I didn't sleep on this game.
Same here. I didn't check into the reviews until after I bought it and played a bit, and was surprised how middling or negative a lot of them were. I bought this just based on having seen some gameplay and knowing it was a Team Ninja game, and I've been having a blast with it. It feels like a modern, open world Tenchu game, but with lots of really great combat in addition to fun stealth with great kill animations
The battle system is years better than ghost of tsushima and I love the parry system so much. Once people actually play it through on a higher difficulty, they will see how awesome the battle system is and a cult following will follow.
I don’t know about being better than G.O.T as for me it’s kinda all over the place with the sheer amount of things they introduce
@@cookanthony4343 it's not that much if you put effort into it. I mastered the game pretty easily
@@davezaffina1983 that’s fair for yourself but for me Sekiro and G.O.T we’re far easier to get the hang of but I’ve only had the game for a week so who knows
@@davezaffina1983 ngl you kinda right I just platinumed the game in 10 days so I think I just gotta let it all sink in 😭
@@cookanthony4343 I did and I still get on just to mess around with weapons I didn't use much. I just did the entire training/Dojo run with a master rank on Midnight difficulty with the Bayonet lol. I already used the greatsword through a sparring run with all Master rankings. It's pretty addicting haha
Killer Review with a lot of needed context. I appreciate you taking the time to put this together.
Yeah Rise of the Ronin is a gem
The difference between this game and Ghost of Tsushima is that GOT is good as a narrative driven AAA experience, but RoR is more fun as a game where you can get lost in the open world gameplay.
Picked it up on your recommendation. It’s way more satisfying than people made it seem. I’m early so I am in the first 5 hours and like the fundamentals. I assume it’ll only get better as I go. It’s team ninja. Thanks for the honest review and all that sifu content.
That’s why I don’t just go off reviews. If a developer usually pumps out great games like team ninja does, I’m going to give there game a try. No matter what anyone says, then if I don’t like it, next time I probably won’t try it.
Loving this game, about 10 hours in with upgrades the combat clicked with all the weapons, stances and timing, very satisfying, think I will get the platinum too
The way the graphics look make me feel like I’m reading a anime manga book if that makes sense. It’s dope as hell. I think it looks good with ray tracing on and still super smooth for me.
lol thought I was the same it felt like I was watching a anime or a Japanese tv show I like it
What settings are you using for Ray tracing? I tried it and the fps tanks in combat too often
@@moronmountain6964there's zero reason to turn on the ray tracing in this game. It only applies to reflections and even then only some of the time, lots of bodies of water use SSR instead of RT, and there's very few shiny surfaces (like wooden floors) that actually use it. It isn't worth the hit to the FPS when this game is based so much on quick timing and reflexes. Performance mode is a must here.
@@apictureoffunction thanks
Team Ninja doesn't miss - best combat developer by far
I never played Nioh 1 and/or 2, nor Wo-Long and I'm enjoying Rise of the Ronin. I played Ghost of Tsushima which I loved and love Rise of the Ronin more. And the game looks great. I don't know what some are saying the graphics is sub-par.
Nioh 2 the goat
You sold me on it, dowloading as I type this.
Amazing combos especially when you get to switching styles in mid combo keeps you flying . Love this game .
I keep playng this game over and over again. Even though it lacks a lot of things the combat, the styles are just sooo addictive. I wonder if there are some secrets in it. I saved ryoma so I wonder what else could you do.
This review has gained a sub from me as I too, am having a BLAST being a RONIN. ^_^
It’s going to be taking me two full playthroughs to get everything because I accidentally locked myself on acquiring bond levels with certain characters but for my first play through I went for the most part entirely anti-shogunate but knew what both sides wanted overall. Now on my second playthrough I went entirely pro-shogunate & this games creates an entirely separate few point on how the story is perceived to the player.
I basically hit a trunks going back to the past arc to save everyone I wanted from dying but others were still unavoidable but this game is amazing regardless what critics may say. Hopefully, team ninja has some plans to do some dlc content!
Im really glad i picked this game up. Only 14 hrs in but ive been having a great time. It was the last physical copy in store also so of course i had to cope lol 😅
I LOVE rise of the ronin when I start the game I dont want to stop playing, it is that satisfying.
You get loot to dismantle it because of upgrade and bond costs and to find better traits it’s kinda self explanatory throughout your play time if you choose the upgrade route
Love this game so much, great video and commentary
Glad you enjoy it!
I really enjoyed your thoughts on Ronin. This was an interesting and thoughtful review. Thanks for the great content. Subbed
I was pretty excited to get the "Blue Demon" outfit, just to find out it's red...like wth lol
Red? It looks purple & blue to me.
Outfit in the blue color is the reward for deafeating the Blue Demon in the Midnight difficulty
I love this Game and Hope some Coop Modus like ghost of tsushima will come
I don't have this game yet(because of Stellar Blade),but I am getting it.I never let other people's opinions choose whether I get a game or not.😊😊But it does look interesting.
Can’t wait to get this game
I wanted this game so bad and didn’t get it at launch because of the gameplay I saw smh now ima get it and have to try and play this and stellar blade same time
The game is amazing, and the ratings proved that you cant ultimately trust mainstream gaming “journalism” as they seem to only be capable of playing cinematic games these days.
I‘ve played for 100+ hours now. More that FF7 for comparison.
Exactly! Too many damn CZcamsrs!
Completely right abou the engame/newgame + midnight difficulty being counter intuitive with a diificulty choice.
Good day. First of all, it's a very good video. Thank you for spending time to give this game what it honestly deserves.
I have a question. There's a title below the 50 master solo dojo.
" ??? "
Do you know what the name of it is and how to do it? Big thanks if you have time to answer.
20 hours game, I love the deliberate nature of the combat and how quickly one can travel to necessary quests. I’m really loving this game. You should try wanted dead with the new combat update is excellent. I think you’d like it.
This game must be ass if a wanted dead fan is saying its good lmao
We need a blade twin dlc where we play as them in America and learn about what they went through or a later period after the story
What's the hairstyle you use to get low hanging curls in the back?
I love this game, it's so addictive.
Bloody awesome game I preordered it because of the story (I love Japanese History and am interested in that period after I saw Rorouni Kenshin.)
I just want update to run the game smoothly, the game is all ready kool.
This game is definitely in my top 3 best games of all-time conversations!!! I think that it would be cool if they added an Ultimate Ronin Battle Dojo (with different floors within the dojo) where you have different trials (as you ascend) allowing players to receive powerful/unique content (such as a new class of rare weapons, armor, and accessories) as players complete different challenges (within the dojo)...this mode should be versatile enough to allow players to either play solo (against the gaming A.l. fighters) or against other players (via PvP). This would awesome!!! As an ultimate reward (for players who able to clear the dojo), they should be able to unlock & play a Team Nina created Chapter 4...this would take this already great game, to a whole new level!!!
Really love this game honestly
Bro, they downplayed this game amd i almost missed out. I had an amazing 200hours with this game. The only negative, is there is no more content 😭.
lol made me wish they had more outpost like Ubisoft be doing 😂
@@jojocasimir1118 I've already reloaded outposts several times😂
The gameplay and fun factor in this game is superb. Perhaps (if the ps5 pro rumors are true) people streaming with Max graphics settings at 60 fps will get the “the graphics bruh” people to give it a chance.
I just picked this up for £44. Arriving tomorrow!
How you finding it
It’s definitely gone b a DLC there’s certain areas that have ronin security that’s guarding the gate
I'll probably buy this over ac
I am 45 hours in this game, I have done mostly main missions, a lot of bandit camps and quite a few bond - side missions and I have to say this game is pretty good but I highly doubt that is a masterpiece or even close for that matter. I really love how the game looks, it has an incredible art style, it's very well designed, especially the buildings and the landmarks or cities in general they are some of the best I have ever seen. The combat is super fluid, satisfying and really opens up a lot of possibilities when it comes to personal preference and customization. What I don't particularly like is that the game is pretty much bloated, it's massive, it's has an inexplicable amount of side characters to the point where some of the magic is being lost. While the things that you do in this game are superb, whether is combat, stealth, interactive with the world, gliding etc. I still think that they are not enough to remain interesting in a game that can easily take more than 60 hours and to finish and that inevitably makes the game quite repetitive in my opinion.
Rotr is game of the year material if you ask me and the critics made it sound bad. They tried to say that dragons dogma 2 was better lol.
Only casual gamers who want simple gameplay and eye candy hated it
In my opinion you can't really tell how beautiful the game is until you actually are in it and can experience and understand the scale of the beauty.
i'll buy it for 30$. can wait 2 years for that
Waiting for a sale to buy.
As someone who slept on this game because of the reviews. It's actually not a bad game at all. I really enjoyed it.
I feel like they should of went back further like when being a samurai and a ronin was on top instead of putting it towards where the era is ending rise of the ronins story feels like the the number 3 of a sequel instead of the first game
Just bought the game and I'm looking forward to sinking my teeth in it. Wasn't a huge fan of Nioh 2 but Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty was superb 👍
😱😱😱😱😱😱 Nioh 2 is their best game Wo long only had 4 bosses that I didnt beat 1st try.
@@Frost72p 😅 I don’t doubt it, but for some reason it didn’t click with me, maybe after ROTR I’ll give it another go
@@ay5471 well one big turn off for me was the removal of demon pokemon. The weapons in Nioh 2 felt different from each other So Ronin should too. I'll get the game after it's finished.
Persoanlly for me, games like this I like to take my time & go through everything I can on the map before focusing on the main missions. I'm playing through the story twice at this time. On first go around, I got my a$$ handed to me pretty good but as I progressed in the story I got better at taking down all the enemies. I think my main con of this game is that your character, even though you level up and get stronger, your still able to be taken down quite easily by low level random shytheads on the map because everyone has Hyper Armor & can just slash through your attacks un-fazed, THAT is a huge fail on this game. Other than that though, I love the game, it reminds me alot of another game called Tenchu that I played years ago...
Absolutely love this game and its backdrop . This has been CRIMINALLY dismissed by those that never bothered to experience is breadth and depth, writing it off for no reason other than "Ghost of Tsushima"
I always tell myself that Im just gonna play 1 hour and ended up playing 4 - 5 hours straight.
Honestly the graphics are out dated for full priced game but the combat looks fun enough to overlook that issue. If the price was halfed people would not complain
Just started this game... when does this really pick up? 2 hours in so far. Looking at it with an open mind.
How did you rate it after 12+ hours in?
@kaeganthornhill3936 I started another playthrough of ghost of tsushima instead 🤣 I'll go back to ronin afterwards
@@kaeganthornhill3936 its great. GOT is pretty boring. its only pretty and the story is mid to me. The gameplay of ronin slaps Ghost in the face🤣🤣
How’d you get that armor set 5:50
This game is fun and cool but Nioh 2 is once again a million times better… nothing they have released since then has been as good as that game.
I had the same impression at first but after over 100 hours in rise of ronin I changed my mind.
Why do you like nioh more? I'm curious.
Play other action games there are many games that did better than nioh
@@hare75 lol bro I’ve played every fromsoft game ever made, Played ninja gaiden back in the day, and played almost every monster hunter. I wasn’t saying that Nioh was the best action game of all time, far from it actually.
@@esmolol4091 I’ll admit when I made this comment I wasn’t done with the game yet and I was salty that there wasn’t a Nioh 3. After finishing the story I now think that this game is pretty amazing, but Nioh 2 definitely had better combat and I liked the yokai/magic aesthetic of the game and atmosphere. I agree
Been saying all of this since launch. People were crying about graphics and cut scene animations, 'Facial are baaaaad.' Man, when are people going to learn that it's all about the core of the gameplay of a video game? I'd rather play a hideous game with engaging core gameplay than a beautiful game that is boring AF.
Whenever a game is exclusive to PlayStation this people come out of somewhere who bash this game for nitpick n the reason they showed made no sense.
We need to support single player game like this n this people truly want gaming to destroyed.
Days Gone, Deiveclub, Infamous Second Son, Killzone, Nioh etc so many game they try to destroy over the most crap take in the world
Bro it was PlayStation fanboys hating on the thing
This game had two things against it: dragon's dogma 2 realeased same day and it kept getting compared to sekiro/ghost of tsushima.
The game itself isn't bad (minus the stupid nerfing IN A SINGLE PLAYER GAME!!!!) but people kept down playing it while propping up dragon's dogma 2
The game is very good, interesting, inmersive, what else doyou want from an rpg?
Honestly I think we DONT need PvP for ROR, but just a better Coop system.
I don't really care with graphic, as long as the game is good, fun and feel finished/refined (and also doesn't has bullshit feature like microtransaction, battle pass, etc.), I'll gladly buy it.
I put in over 300 hours in Rise of the Ronin ( Having a BLAST ) and I have played and platinum them ALL. Lies of P, Elden Rings, Bloodborne Dark Souls, Demon Souls, Wo Long, GOT, Witcher 3, Fires of Rubicon. I thought GOT combat was good at the time but Rise of the Ronin is BETTER by a long distance. Djisso good job ( You nailed it ) on this review of Rise of the Ronin. Folks who can tell you what's good for you BUT YOU. The number #1 BROWN -NOSE- FightingCowboy stick to Elden Rings reviews ONLY man.
Great video. The way this game was treated was very similar to Armored Core 6.
I saw nothing but praise for that game, the issue is Mech games are really niche.
Except armored core 6 was higher metascore, high acclaimed action games of 2023 and much polished since launch
Story could of been better like consequences should of been a must but combat 👌👌👌👌🐐
Half way through fixing to beat it and sell it
Are those blue swords in the thumbnail actually in the game?
Yes, They Are
You do need to change your default appearance at the longhouse
@@Djisso thanks, are you able to share their name so I can find them?
How don't you feel the fps drops? It's very noticeable, although I've not had any on fight sequences. It's specially consistently bad in cutscenes.
I don't notice them either. I alternate between playing it on a 120hz OLED, 1080p Plasma, and PS Portal. Never notice anything jarring with FPS.
It took me 24 hours to platinum Spider-Man 2 what were you doing💀💀

I really love it! People who complain about the graphics have never touched Nioh :D however, rise of the ronin looks really amazing and the gameplay is totally sick
Rise of the Ronin released on the same day as Dragons Dogma 2. I consider it bad luck. The gameplay and the story are better in Rise.
Yess GOT is visually better but I feel like people don't realize that it was repetitive af. Same patch of grass everywhere and the same two trees to make an entire forest, it was not unique at all it was just copy paste assets everywhere.
For exemple rdr2 felt like i was in a different place everytime but got felt all the same and the snow biome was also pretty ugly
Who lied?
Pretty stupid of people to write off a TeamNinja game in the first place. I was skeptical with the open world system since that aint really their forte but they made it work enough that it’s enjoyable. Of course, combat is fun as always. Im having more fun here than DD2, and I really enjoyed that game. Im getting my Nioh itch satisfied here, especially with the enemies actually putting me down when I was mess up.
It will improve when it releases on pc. Any 3rd party taking a wad of cash to limit their customer base deserves to flop hard.
Dragons Dogma 2 hellloooo where forever art thou😂😂😂told folks day one capcom sent out checks cause ain’t no way the reviewers actually played more than 5-10 hours. Kept crying about graphics when DD2 graphics were nearly the same level with 4 animations per character type this situation should be taught in universities everywhere
Don't compare the graphics to goat of Tsushima.. big difference
I want to disagree. I played all their games, and the graphics are not made on purpose they have one of the worst and outdated engines, the katana with a ton of problems soon they will jump to U5 after they finish the next title will release next year from their B team
Same people who hated this game without playing is the same people who buy 2k every fuckin year because it’s sooooo realll and funnn bro 😂😂

What? Sekiro came out years ago. How can you say no one said anything about the graphics? They were fine then. People have more expectations for PS5 games. RoR doesn't look terrible imo, but it does feel dated. Looks like a PS4 game, with ok graphics that do the job. Nothing amazing.
138!!?? That sounds fake because i got plat in about 35 hrs 😮
Maybe I didn’t go for the Platinum right away and instead kept goofing around. Never said the plat would take someone +100 hours
At one point you are completely wrong and that is the difficulty.
If people have the option to experience the whole game at easy difficulty, it's the perfect entry to learn ALL mechanics.
If you then go into hard difficulty, you KNOW all the mechanics, but just have to practise just a little more.
If you make only one gigahard difficulty, people will struggle all the time, especially at the beginning, like really hard.
This turns off most people.
At another point I also highly disagree, which is gear being "obsolete". This is wrong.
If the gear doesn't matter at first, it's a good thing, because it puts the focus on the mechanics.
If you then want to specialize into a certain playstyle, you can do it.
Let's get real here, this was the biggest downside of nioh 1 and 2 where only meta gear builts made the game beatable.
Rise of the ronin made the bad things from nioh go away.
And I played nioh 2 for more than 1000 hours.
I don't want to know how much time I WASTED in the inventory to create builds, only to find out, that only meta really works, full onmyo buffing at the beginning of every harder fight, which became idiotic very fast.
The beauty of Rise of the Ronin is, that you can pick just one certain combat "stance", just ONE and become a god at it, no matter the foe and weapon they use, even if it is described as ineffective.
I have the sekiro game also an I couldn't even get into that game..the fighting mechanics was lame ,the movement of the character..an there was no pop in the graphics at all..
terrible take
Game is amazing, I loved Ghost of Tsushima but I’m enjoying this game more overall the gameplay is just better. Plus I enjoy being able to do co op missions with other players etc and seeing their characters in the real world and fighting them.
2:20 Yep, thank you. That’s what I wanted to hear, I am familiar and I won’t buy it. 🤷♂️
💀
Toxic gaming critics only gave it a 7
I despise playing against real people in games, all they do is trash it. If they can't make it, they break it. So many amazing, beautiful games have been ruined; resulting in miserable gaming experiences; unplayable.
Ghost of tsushima was faithful and looked amazing compared to this
You make me look like a scrub at this game tbh I started playing at release but then deleted bc me and my friend could only play coop missions but I reinstalled today now I suck and watching you play makes me look weak asf I had to stop the video bc my girl was watching lol
Being insulted that a game requires you to be good or get better is pathetic, just slowly increase the level from where you were and redo missions it’s not that hard. If that’s sumn to whine about than respectfully it’s time to grow up cause that mentality is the type of mentality that will have you quitting on life just cause rent was raised 100 dollars. Plus even still you don’t have to have the “best gear” in this game because the gear that’s not masterwork doesn’t cap out so you can still get better stuff, that’s why even in midnight mode you don’t only masterwork items the argument is a mute point there’s multiple acceptable solutions that are available. To top it off why should you expect to have gear your not worthy of anyway it’s meant for the people who are good and accept that degree of difficulty while being able to handle it💀🤷♂️
and also i dont get it, 70us is expensive? am south american, if i can pay it, cmon guys!!!
Everything cost $70 now just wait till sale (everything goes on sale eventually) I think most of the complaints come from genuine fans of Nioh 2. TN set such high expectations with that game and the 3 games TN made since haven't met it yet
@@Frost72p exacto hermano, everything costs 70us. And honestly is not that much, is not cheap, but is not unpayable either. And as you say, eventualy they go on sale
