    Yeah, Ben definitely didn't perform that loop correctly. As presented in the video, he would deck himself. Curio could bounce Chulane, but he needed it to generate mana from Cradle. Plus, he'd need to bounce different lands in order to pay non green mana costs for his creatures, so if Cradle was anywhere in the bottom 40 cards in his deck or so, he would lose. Probably required an Alluren to win. Even so, once you get to draw your deck, the likelihood of losing isn't high as long as you play it correctly, which the described loop in the video wouldn't suffice, I think.

    • @Kumathebear726
      @Kumathebear726 Před 2 lety +35

      I was trying not to speak a novel so I probably abbreviated some stuff. I can win with that loop as long as Crop Rotation, Aluren and Cradle aren't in the bottom three of my deck.

      I get all my one drops out along the way, which is 10 creatures. I draw into Cradle as the fourth card from the bottom and put it on the battlefield with the Chulane trigger (library has three cards). I tap Cradle for at least 11 mana and cast Aluren.
      Now I can cast pretty much every creature in my deck as many times as I want. I cast some other creature drawing a card (two cards left in deck) and putting a land on the battlefield. Overburden triggers and I bounce Cradle. I cast some other creature for free and draw a card (one card left in deck) and put Cradle onto the battlefield. Cast Eternal Witness for free drawing the last card in the deck and putting some land onto the battlefield.
      When Witness enters, Overburden, Cloudstone Curio, and Eternal Witness trigger. I bounce some non-Cradle land with Overburden and Chulane with Curio. I get back Finale of Devastation with the Eternal Witness trigger
      I then proceed to cast all other three or less mana creatures from my hand for free (except Shrieking Drake and Whitemane Lion) and tap Cradle for something like 22 mana. I now have at least 29 green mana in pool and like 22 creatures which is more than enough to kill the table with a Finale of Devastation.
      The chances of my bottom three cards being Crop Rotation, Aluren, and Gaea's Cradle are roughly (1/n)^3 where n is the number of cards left in my library. at 75 cards in deck, this is roughly a 1 in 400,000 chance of my bottom three being exactly so. So yes, it wasn't deterministic exactly how I said it, but it was close enough not to make everyone want to sit there for 20 minutes while I did it card by card for a 1 in 400,000 chance I'd get screwed.
      This isn't even counting other lines I could have drawn into on the way like Lotus Cobra, Earthcraft, etc. which make my chances of fizzling even lower. Like I said, I wasn't trying to speak a novel when I was explaining my win because I wanted to keep it simple for the video.
      I probably mentioned I could with with either Finale of Devastation or Destiny Spinner when I was describing my win condition and they went with Destiny Spinner in the video which requires me to cast all my enchantments and get all my lands out. This is doable if I use Curio and some other enchantment to bounce Overburden along the way and continue my line with Curio until I hit Cradle. I'd probably also have to use Earthcraft or Lotus Cobra to get the blue and white mana to do that.

      @@Kumathebear726, of course it was Kuma playing it. Lol. Yeah, no worries my dude. Like I said, once you get the loop it's very hard for you to lose. I think we just had a really simple description of your win in the video.

    • @Kumathebear726
      @Kumathebear726 Před 2 lety +2

      @@yanjia1777 Most likely, yes. Once I hit Cradle and can start netting mana with the loop, I can use Curio and another enchantment to bounce the Overburden. After that, I can use floating mana from Cradle to continue the loop while putting my other lands on the battlefield and casting the rest of my enchantments. If Cradle is low enough in my library I might not have enough triggers to do this, but I still had Finale of Devastation available to me

      @@Zephyrferret-v7g the chulane player presented the loop to draw through until they got the cradle and cast cloudstone and two dorks. With that loop, every cradle was netting 5+ green mana each dork cast. It would have been trivial to:
      - Draw through the deck
      - Make 5+ green mana each cast of a dork with chulane dropping cradle
      - Bounce chulane at any point to stop the draws and prevent decking
      - aluren could be cast to drop all the 3 or less drops (which is almost every creature)
