bts has been a voice for the youth ever since their debut. they’ve talked about social and political issues fearlessly, which is why they’re so different. they raise questions at the older generations and the government which most people specially in korea are afraid to do. like i said, they really are a voice for the youth. they’re so much more than just a group. they’re a movement
BTS talking about real shit. You guys already know but this is what we mean when we say BTS has meaningful lyrics. Also Korea has the highest teen suicide rate in the world...for like many years. So they also talk a lot about school hardships and other young people's issues which sometimes might seem trivial but add up to a lot of pressure and honest heartbreak. To have an artist, especially a kpop artist, go into such issues is a huge deal.
Idk why I'm commenting so much, but I also just love the irony of BTS. Pretty much all of their most fun sounding songs actually have hard hitting lyrics. Also just their upbeat hip hop songs. Honestly it's like the more hip hop the song the more real the lyrics. Maybe because BTS does actually know and respect hip hop culture so much
BTS has some excellent tracks - not only musically but lyrically. A lot of them that make you stop and really think. They've talked about issues that the kpop industry deem as 'controversial' or 'delicate'. There are hoards of songs about love and partying and all that jazz out there. But BTS have spoken about relevant topics through their music. They've been open about going through depression, anxiety, their fear of failure...of success. They're really special. #/NotJustaBoyband Thanks for the reaction! and a big shout out to Britney :)
They both do mainly kpop songs that feel like they need to explain or people ask them for an explanation for it, but yes I agree they would be reaaaally good at explaining other songs too. Oh also I wish they had a MV for this song too! Bts would be sooo creative with it if they did :D
I don't know how to speak English, so I write it down in Korean.
that's why I like BTS coz they are the "rare-breed" artists when it comes to their craft! not just cutesie song they are producing but always brings awareness, special messages & even an action after you've heard what they got to say.
its the same way in the states. but internship is free lol they get paid just very little. its the same with music groups. you got to look at it from a logical stand point and take emotion out of it: companies pay for food, housing, vocal training, clothing, makeup, fitness trainer, media coach, etc etc during the years that they are training and even after they start making music. they are spending all this money but getting NO return cause they (the talent) hasnt put out anything to make them money. so they either dont give them a wage at all and take a HIGH cut of their profit of album sales for when they do start making music or pay them very very little. and in a lot of instances they save these kids lives as some were homeless til they started training or in the case of Rain his family was so poor the only time he would get food is when the company would take him out to eat. there are ups and downs to all businesses i just hate how people try to paint it as black and white and only talk about the bad
i mean of course there are good cases to everything but there are so many more horror stories and lawsuits against these companies and their treatment of trainees/idols. either way, I don't think the song is focusing on idol life really and is a broader take on the problems facing the younger gen. Internships in today's society aren't feasible and most times companies even make their interns do things (errands/dirty work) that is considered technically illegal for no wage. Internships were great 20 years ago but now they're just an excuse for companies to get free labor
Valid points, but I think the "passion pay" is something that applies to outside more than just the idol industry. This is a systemic problem in South Korean businesses.
BTS have been addressing social/political issues since their debut, and that what makes them very distinct, authentic, and stand out compared to other groups out there. I think no other group would ever dare to release/relate such issues into their songs, they've been consistent from the very beginning. They're one of a kind!
I hope by these reactions to their lyrics and music people will finally see that BTS isn't really just making people happy through their music but using these music to shout out for all issues that are needed to be addressed by the people. These 7 men are using their power and voice since then to voice out the necessary topics of this world and finally rn with their greater power they are finally making the actions by influencing young minds and older generation.
it's really cool that you reacted to this (i know it was requested, but still it's nice that you appreciate the explanation for this song and how it relates to young people)
A lot of the stuff they talk about in this song can be applied to other countries' millenials and youth too. I'm an older millenial (in my 30s), and I was completely blindsided by this band. They were singing about things that actually mattered and that actually applied to my life, real issues that many people are been struggling with. South Korea adopted a very heavy capitalist driven system (much like Japan and America). Although the initial decades of this system were very beneficial for certain groups, we're now starting to see what unregulated capitalism and corporate mergers are resulting in for these three countries (as well as other countries). Love this band. It's great to see that young artists are speaking up and challenging these antiquated institutes. If you haven't already, one of their most touch songs is called 'Spring Day.' The song and video are genius because it's working on a few different levels of interpretation. The first one is a song talking about missing friends/family/partners and hating that the love they have is causing them pain. The second interpretation is that the video is part of their Bangtan Universe (think Marvel Universe) storyline that runs throughout many of their MVs. And third is the saddest and most beautiful: this song is a tribute to the families of the Sewol Ferry tragedy. They had to design the MV in such a way as to be subtle because any artists/musicians that commented about the tragedy (which was from a massive government coverup) were blacklisted. If they were show to be outright criticizing the government, their song could be banned from broadcast. So they did it in a way that was subtle and yet with imagery that when pieced together became a undeniable tribute to the victims. Here's the video: czcams.com/video/xEeFrLSkMm8/video.html Here's the explanation video: czcams.com/video/Tye1ONFeKis/video.html (would recommend reading a quick wikipedia page or summary article about the Sewol Ferry Tragedy if you are unfamiliar with the event)
Thank you Guys for your react to Baepsae!!!!!!!!!!! There aren't many videos explained by korean, Only dkdk tv ( two you tuber ) did it spontanious!!! These guys are now Armys too!!! Now you can react to Spine breaker mv ( made by BTS ), Sping Day, Idol!!!! BTS is another level!!! Their songs about mental issue, depression, highschool kids, youth, young people, all generation, political theme, socila problem, kpop idol life, life goal, love ( in many way) selfconfidence, etc ..
if you liked this one, you will like SPINE BREAKER also by BTS, the MV is kind of a crazy thing but the meaning behind the song is a cultural topic. The explanation is pretty good, too.
It’s the same in Sydney. One bedroom studio apartments can go for a million and above. It’s so hard to get into the market, honestly when I get to the stage to buy a house I will probably skip Sydney, buy a house in a county-coastal town out North 😰😖

BTS been consistently talking about those real stuff since 2013.

I love this song, is one of my favorites. Is incredible the way that BTS have to express very palpable truth in their songs. They are the best...
This is one of my fav bts songs simply because of the meaning behind it.
This is what *really* got me into the BTS, their real lyrics. This is so relatable to me and those my age, even though I live in the States.
