Several hours before the doors opened and I walked in to the venue and was in awe of the thousands of empty seats waiting to be filled with fans. As the sound and lighting crew did their magic, Martina walked out to do the sound check, she began singing this song. I got instant goosebumps and the tears flowed, it was such an emotional experience.
I remember thinking when this song came out that it was the saddest song I had ever heard. It's still the top of the list. It's the first song that ever made me cry. Her best one in my opinion. Go forward 31 years and now.... "That's Me"

The second release was The Time Is Come and that's what sold and got put into heavy rotation on CMT. But this song is so much better. How could it happen? Here's one way - but not in this case. Sometimes an initial single was released and it bombed or only received a lukewarm reception, like That's Me. Then the artists' next release was a gigantic hit, which sometimes lead to a re-release of the previous song. Here's another example. Suzy Bogguss knew that Letting Go had "hit" written all over it. But Liberty Records adamently refused to release it as a single from her Aces album. So what did she do? She included Letting Go as a cut on her follow up album, Voices In The Wind and it was the first single released off of the album. You should know the rest - it became the biggest hit of her career and is one of her signature songs.
I'm happy to have read from a fellow Martina fan. I personally feel like she's underrated and one of my favorites I gotta say, and please don't laugh, is "A Woman Knows" due to that awful feeling of her acknowledging and accepting something painful as fact. I can appreciate songs that do that. What do you think?

The early 90's would be the LAST YEARS. Nashville would allow mostly real country music to be recorded. Shame. But at least we can go back, to hear real music.
Why they changed with what sounds good is beyond me. And they sang with any voice then smooth or twangy. Now it's just twangy with rock guitars on every song. Just terrible

While I understand loving someone, it does not make sense to keep hold of that person mentally and emotionally when they have made it very obvious they no longer want you. Remember the good times yes, but get on living your life. You only cause both physical and psychological harm to yourself by refusing to let go. They moved on with their's, you need to move on with your's.
