  • What is the best chair for office work and gamers in 2024? What about a chair that won't cost you more than $1000 and has more adjustability features than any other chair out today? This is my review as a Physical Therapist working in gaming of the Iskur V2.
    0:14 Chair Seat
Overall large upgrade compared to the IskurV1. Seat pan width at both the back and front will allow increased comfort for more potential body types. The reduction in the angle of the flanges is also a positive change as it can reduce the discomfort associated with those who sit in positions in which the flanges could have placed excessive pressure on the distal thigh and potentially create mild pressure sores. The reduction in foam density is also a nice upgrade as it can better distribute weight at the sit bones (where we typically load up to 50% of our body weight). While the higher density foam cushion was appropriate for a large part of the gaming demographic I think the slight reduction in density will lead to more overall comfort. It will also reduce the likelihood of discomfort for those who may not have foot rests or sit in cross legged positions.
    1:00 Lumbar Support
The new lumbar support of the Iskur V2 is one of the most exciting features of the chair. With the recent upgrade it went from providing only depth-wise adjustability to adjustability in three planes. It can be adjusted vertically, horizontally AND across what we call the transverse plane with its swivel mechanism.
This rotational support can be very beneficial for gamers, especially with some of the most common postures and SETUPS we see for gamers. The dynamic lumbar support allows individuals to maintain neutral positions of the back when trunk rotation is required. This is seen really commonly in those who have a dual or triple monitor setup. Depending on the distance away from the monitors individuals usually require some neck or trunk rotation to be able to look towards these monitor positions. This is especially true for those who have horizontal setup of all monitors. It requires more overall trunk and neck rotation to appropriately view these auxiliary screens. What we see when this happens is the following
    1. Individuals don’t end up using the backrest since they need to rotate and need the space to do so. While this may not seem like a large issue, often with repeated rotations in slight flexion on top of general physical inactivity leads to some irritation of joints at the side of the spine. With the swivel mechanism, the lumbar support can continue to maintain the spine while rotating, minimizing some potential stress associated with the rotation. The lumbopelvic support rotates with the body.
    2. Due to the back-rest being rigid, the individual often overcompensates at the neck. For gamers who often sit in the rounded or slumped posture, this might lead to repeated rotation into an extended position of the lower neck joints (facets) which can sometimes lead to pain
This may make the Iskur V2 the ideal chair for streamers, programmers and any gamer who might have this multi-monitor setup.
3:34 Vertical adjustability is a new feature of the Iskur V2 lumbar support. This allows the curvature or firm point of contact on the lumbar support to move up and down based on the individuals unique anatomy. This is important because the natural curve of the lumbar spine will differ amongst gamers due to their individual anatomical differences. The allows for increased surface area of contact and support for more individuals and body types, promoting more of a neutral spine position when the back-rest is utilized. The adjustability can also be used to promote movement! A lower contact point on the sacrum or lower lumbar can not only act as a cue to move more during various points of the gaming session but also provide better overall support of the lower back through pelvis-level contact. The back-rest has also seen a clear upgrade with a reduction in the angle of the “wings” along the backrest. Instead of creating potential rounding in the shoulders with larger individuals, it can now provide better overall support for more individuals when leaning back.
4:18 With the highly adjustable and adaptable lumbar support - I am confident this is the best lumbar support on the market. With this and the new features the Iskur V2 - it will be one of the chairs I recommend most to the gaming community, especially with the growing streamer and creator population.

I do have one! It's actually in my playlist "Gaming Ergonomics 101"
and helps you understand how to best setup your gaming chair & desk with science. I discuss all of the features of the chair and include a step by step setup on how you can look for a chair to fit you based on your individual measurements / sitting preferences

Yeah at CES we were able to do some chair fittings for several individuals 6 ft +. Ultimately you'd setup the vertical adjustability at the top 1/3 of the lumbar support (if you use the back rest).
The chair height adjustability should also be enough to ensure your knees aren't higher than your hips.
I would definitely go check out a store to actually test it though!

Hey 1HP do you have a video on how to properly set up the Lumbar support on a chair. I have one on my Ticova chair but i don't think it goes high enough.
Also what angle should the chair be? Mine locks at 90° and 120° and 130°. I heard having it locked at 90° at all times like during long gaming sessions is bad for you back and hips and if you go lower at 110° for example your entire back can lay flat on it making it better.

Hey! I'll look to create something about how to setup your lumbar support, but for now I would set it based on your current comfort and just realize ergonomics is one part of the larger picture of overall physical health (typically only 10% contributor).
If you include some exercises / stretches throughout your day you can actually have a bit more suboptimal postures since you are building up the capacity to manage the prolonged sitting sessions.
Re: 90 deg - I think 90 degrees is fine for your chair, it just depends on how you sit. If you are the type to have your legs up, or single cross it may be helpful to have a bit more recline to create some space. If you set it at 120, it limit the use of the lumbar support. Again it depends on your preference for sitting. If you prefer sitting against the back-rest then the 120 may not be optimal.

compared to most office chairs in this prize range this chair is pretty bad

This is definitely true. I think most office chairs can be "enough" but there are some unique adjustability features that can be beneficial for some people with this chair!
You can think of it like investing in a mattress. Many gamers actually spend more time sitting than they do sleeping or on their mattress.
It's like getting a high quality mattress that has long-term durability and support
