In the US we referred to these as "rock pockets" because of the visible aggregate and lack of cement. Adequate consolidation is extremely important in cast in place concrete, and it's not always an easy job, especially on large columns or shear walls. When I used to do this kind of work, the places most common to form honeycomb were in corners or around block-outs. The corners often happened because they are difficult to reach with a manual vibrator and tend to have a lot of rebar in very tight configurations, which makes it difficult to get the head of the vibrator into the area without getting stuck. I have actually seen a 20 foot vibrator whip left in a wall because it got stuck so bad. Another time we had to pull it out with a crane. Proper workmanship and experience in large pours is critical for the integrity of structural concrete.

Thanks, CEM for the post. This content is very clear and useful.
Brief information about honeycombs, causes and recommendations for suitable repair materials were very helpful.
I used Fosroc products in all my projects in UAE. They are authorized vendors for almost all Consultant specifications.
I look forward more videos related to various structural repair issues with appropriate repair materials that will be very useful.

    Hi,
    Nicely presented! Good work.
Does Fosroc or Sika have a suitable structural repair material for concrete swelling, structural cracks, tie rod hole packing, etc.?
It is very helpful for my projects if you post one more video with the above information!
