- The Shanghai Tower is a 632-meter (2,073 ft), 128-story skyscraper in Shanghai, China. It shares the record (along with the Ping An Finance Center) of having the world's highest observation deck within a building or structure at 562 m, and the world's second-fastest elevators at a top speed of 20.5 meters per second (74 km/h; 46 mph). The Shanghai Tower is the world's second-tallest building by height to the architectural top. However, the title of the world's fastest elevator now belongs to the Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre, with a top speed of 21 meters per second (76 km/h; 47 mph) achieved in 2017. Designed by international design firm Gensler and owned by the Shanghai city government, it is the tallest of the world's first triple-adjacent supertall buildings in Pudong, the other two being the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Centre. Its tiered construction, designed for high energy efficiency, provides nine separate zones divided between office, retail and leisure use.
Construction work on the tower began in November 2008 and topped out on 3 August 2013. The exterior was completed in summer 2015, and work was considered complete in September 2015. Although the building was originally scheduled to open to the public in November 2014, the actual public-use date slipped considerably. The observation deck was opened to visitors in July 2016; the period from July through September 2016 was termed a "test run" or "commissioning" period. Since April 26, 2017, the sightseeing deck on the 118th floor has been open to the public.

The Shanghai Tower is my favorite skyscraper in the world. Its sleek twisting design, location among the IFC and Jin Mao as well as its view from across the Huangpu river make it stunning!
What’s your favorite skyscraper?
The Chrysler Building in NYC.
The Chrysler gotta be in my top 3, as a kid it was always my favorite. The craftsmanship of the crown is immaculate
I prefer shanghai tower over the burj khalifa tbh. I also really like the shanghai world financial center right next to it, maybe my favorite skyscraper
My favorite skyscrapser is The Shanghai Tower because it’s beautiful building 😊😊😊
The Burj Khalifa. Or maybe the taipei 101. there are so many cool ones
Thats my fav skyscraper by far
My fav: WTC, sad story
wtf with ur name is covering all my youtube page
Let's be honest.. it might be the second tallest tower when it comes to height... but with swag being definently the tallest and beautyfullest building^^
Also to note, 244m or ~29% of burj Khalifa is unusable spire.
I’m from China, and locals call the 3 skyscrapers in Shanghai “Pagoda, Bottle Opener, and Elephant truck”
The thing about the second tallest building that I like is full with glass and it goes high and twirls cool also I like it because it touches the clouds
Those aren’t clouds! SMOG/POLLUTION.
@@jayebirdjb7143 not pollution it's low tide clouds
A lot of skyscrapers touch the clouds dumb ass
We need a few of these in Dublin to solve the phoo king "housing problem". Going in my Beautiful CZcams Videos list
On my bucket list of places to go for sure! Great video, thank you!!👍👍
Shanghai is phenomenal. I lived there for 6 months and enjoyed every single minute of it. The beautiful skyscrapers and hyper-modern skyline are the cherry on the cake.
I’ve been to the observation deck! Good view to see the city. I’ve also been to observation deck of the financial tower next to it
@Tekhelet75 lucky you! I'm jealous ☺
I'd wish more and more skyscrapers that goes over 1km in height to be constructed in China
Shinji Kataoka Don’t worry it will come, they’re already very mature for building supertall
Sorry, but they banned skyscrapers half a km or over, how sad.
Beautiful building
Sophisticated design😎
Very interesting ....
Good
Whats the music called?
Very nice Love China,Serbian friends :D
I got a question, what's the music you used
Amazing city shanghai.
ive been to a 5 star hotel on it, one of the pools took up the entire floor!
Don’t even want to imagine how expensive it must be to install a new piece of glass if one of them cracks or gets foggy 😮
does anybody know the song please??
Hi there! Any update on the Jeddah Tower?
Do you still hope it will be completed? I think it will be abandoned or will have the same destiny as the tallest building in North Korea
This video is recent 👉 czcams.com/video/J5AfmoRG-JQ/video.html
@@rafaeldcarmo it will be completed

These three buildings are so different from each other, they don't match together
And for good reason. They were planned to be built together; the Jin Mao (shortest one) represents past China, it is fengshui and of traditional Chinese design. The World Finance Center is meant to represent contemporary China, a country striving towards development and a richer future. The Shanghai tower, the largest and most impressive of the three, supposedly represents China’s future and the great things thr country seeks to achieve. So yes, they don’t fit well together but it is done on purpose.
You can research Lujiazui for more information :)
@@Aaronaa4 well, I didn't know about that, it's really interesting, thanks for letting me know :)
Little piece of God you’re most welcome! I had no idea either but after living in Shanghai for 6 months I found out :)
actually, I think they make a great combination and for a beautiful skyline!
I am a successful designer, i can tell you that you are wrong they actually look fantastic together

Wht?? Just look at the comment section.. everyone said that shanghai tower looks 100x better
So its not only me... look i know that malaysian are overproud but theres no need to have a conversation with me
Shanghai needs more supertall and megatall buildings.
Shanghai Tower is currently the tallest building in the world were it not for some useless measure that Burg Khalifa can include it's 244 meter spire in measuring height.
But according to CTBUH spire on top building is count meawhile antenna doesnt.Spire on top building must be can access by people
Nice joke
@@catzzzz1450 Shanghai Tower is 632 meters as to it's architechural height. Burg Khailfa is 830 meters minus it's useless 244 meter spire equals 586. A simple google search would have given you that pearl of information.
