- Hello and welcome back to another car review, finally! Today we take a look at the latest addition to my personal garage, a Second Generation 2007 Toyota Tacoma TRD OffRoad, which is easily the best Toyota truck I've ever owned! I've driven this 2007 Tacoma across the country twice, visiting places like Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico since purchasing the Toyota Tacoma in May of this year. This Tacoma has enabled me to see and reach places that I'd never make it to without its help. The Tacoma's notorious reliability has served me well along the way too, and proven to be true! I've loved my Toyota since day 1 and look forward to our future adventures. I hope you all enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed producing it. It was an incredibly special project to create!
Special thanks to Amelia Johnson, my lovely girlfriend, for her help with this project. An extra set of hands goes a long way on these shoots!
P.S.- Yes, I still have the Mustang. You'll see her again soon.

As always, take it easy!

Let me know what else you'd like to see of my new Tacoma!
Please do another road trip if you could.
What type of from bumper is that.???
Where can I get that from bumper
I have a stock 08 4x4, would that tire set-up work without going with the 5100's? what size? like to leave it with the stock height wonder if it'll rub?
@@ssiu-ti3joSorry for the delay! I believe they will fit fine. You may get a little rub at full lock or during articulation off road, and likely on the OEM mud guards if you have them, but my truck is very near factory height and I have had very few issues with rubbing, especially after removing mud guards!
My 07 Tacoma (6 speed stick) has 207k miles - original clutch. Aside from a frame replacement compliments of my pals @ Toyota, it’s been borderline repair free. Most reliable vehicles ever made.
You are so right about reliability from Toyota.
Love my Tacoma. One of the few rigs you can run narrow forest service trails with ease, put an elk in the back, haul a two man raft in the back, camo out of etc. Absolutely love my taco. Not sure what I would ever replace it with
Just got an '07 myself. Love this truck - access cab, long bed, manual, v6.
I did not expect to see such an epic intro in this video, what beautiful sights
Made my day! Thanks, man!
You put a ton of work into this video! Well done man
Thanks, man! I appreciate you saying that. It was a fun one to make and one I'm proud of!
Good quality, good camera view,Best truck in the world, what els can you ask for. Great video👍
My dad has one and it is completely stock and I was very impressed. The suspension is very smooth and it has 200,347 miles and it rides just like new. I took it off road the other day and it was not bad. I have been in a TRX-Raptors and they are top of the line but with the right mods on a Toyota Tacoma you can make one that can compete with the raptor and More. Overall one of my favorite trucks.
I had a v6 2013 mustang and then when I moved to the PNW I bought a Tacoma. It’s great to see the video!
Good choice for PNW. I live in Washington and I drive a Silverado and I’m about to switch over to a Tacoma
It’s got TRD Sway Bars and Suspension which is why it handles so good 🤘🏻
Base model doesn’t handle as well.
Hey Graham! nice looking truck, nice you got to come back to my neck of the wood Colorado! I still got my F-150 now at 171,000 miles and running strong.
Thanks man! I'll have to get in touch with you the next time I'm out there. I'm already planning another trip in the summer. Glad your F-150 is serving you so well too!
My 06 just turned 290,000 runs great!
Wish I was out in Colorado or anywhere with mountains. You really don’t get all that beautiful view to soak in when you’re out in Texas.
I have an '08 with the 2.7 liter 4 cylinder, 5 speed standard 😊.
Lovely truck 👍
Really love the practical approach with the mods. That stubby bumper and winch must still weigh at least 120lbs. Does the stock suspension handle it pretty well? I am thinking about getting that setup as well but I have 5100's with stock coils set to 1.75". Would prefer to not have to get new coils yet if not necessary.
Wow, sorry for the delay! I've got 5100's now, and it handles it relatively well, though it doesn't sit like it did. Luckily I still have room to raise the front end. I have a smittybilt 9500 winch with a steel cable, so that alone is pretty heavy and I plan to swap it with something else soon, definitely one with a synthetic line this time. the bumper itself isn't all that heavy by itself. About 65 lbs.
Haven't seen an 07 with an LCD display in the cab.
I'm actually looking to buy this "exact" truck. There's one with 153,000 miles for $11,900 where I'm at.
Sounds like a good deal! Did you buy it? Frame rust will be the main issue to look for. If it's clear of that, they're otherwise solid trucks!
I’ve got a silver 06! Man I love your wheel tire combo, OEM TRD wheels and what size tires? You said you’re not lifted?
Thanks, man! I had these wheels picked out before I’d even bought the truck. I knew I had to have them! The KO2’s are a 265/70/17, a factory size for the current 4Runner (which these came off of). They rubbed on the OEM plastic mud guards, but I pulled those off and they’ve been just fine ever since!
Nice video where did you get the front bumper??
What size BFG are those? The stock size 265/70/16?
They are 265/70/17, which is the factory size for current 4R, which is what the wheels came off of. They're very slightly larger than the original tire size.
hey i just came from your z32 vid and miata vid and i was just wondering in your opinion what is the better daily
That's a hard choice! I think a Z32 makes for a better daily-driver but the Miata is an unbelievably fun car! Think about how you're using whichever car you buy and go from there. There are pros and cons to both. I'm happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability!
Just got an 08 with 20k miles on it. I want to to something to it but I’m not entirely sure what I should do. It’s a 2wd 4-cylinder so I’m pretty limited.
It'll go everywhere a 4x4 V6 will go, you just have to be a little more cautious. If you want to go offroad, a good set of all-terrain tires and some decent recovery equipment should be first on your list!
@@GrahamCain great! thanks! been looking at some tires but dont really have the buget for them rn.
@@scrappydoo6743 Yeah, they're pricey, especially right now, but they'll make the biggest difference for you. I'd recommend keeping an eye on FB Marketplace for some OEM take-offs with some A/T tires. That's how I scored my first set. Got 95% new BFG KO2 tires and the OEM TRD Pro wheels that I was dying to have for about $800. Less than the wheels would have cost alone had I bought them new! I regularly see OEM TRD off-road Tacoma wheels for sale with like-new tires for about $500 too. Good deals are out there, just keep en eye out!
@@GrahamCain awesome! thanks man!
Have you ever driven a 09+ trd offroad with ATRAC?
I'm having a tough time deciding between a cheaper, easier to find 05-08 trd offroad and a more expensive 09-15 with ATRAC
I haven't! I hope to do a review of one before long, though. Keep an eye out! I honestly don't think that you could go wrong buying either truck. I love my '07 and have nothing but good things to say about it, but I hear the same good things about the later models too!
Some of the very early ones (05 to 06?) Had some head gasket problems. Also, i read on tacomaworld that in 2009, they changed frame manufacturers and have better frames. I myself have a 2010 and it has been great. The added traction modes are nice.
nice video! im new to the tacomas i want to make my truck looks like yours can i ask what kind of tires u have do they fit good any rubbing??? i got a tacoma 2015
Thank you! As I mention in the vid, I've got BFG KO2's. They're awesome tires and perform very well on and off-road. I'm running 265/70/17's, which are slightly larger than factory spec on the second gen trucks, but I do have the Bilstein 5100 shocks on all 4 corners, which give the truck about a 2 inch lift all around. With this suspension, I do rub a little, but really only on my factory mud flaps. If I pulled them off, I'd likely have no issues.
Congrats on the new truck, btw!
I have 265/70/17 BFG KO2's with TRD Pro wheels from a current 4Runner, and yes, they do rub just a little at full-lock. Nothing that bothers me, and well worth the looks and functionality!
I have 2005 Tacoma lifted automatic 4.0 6 but someone wanted to trade me 2007 toyota tacoma manual with 191 k should I trade it ?
I have an '07 manual, I like it but it is a tight fit for your feet. I have to be very careful or parts of my right foot get trapped or caught. Plus there are times offroad when I'd prefer an automatic.
which tires do you run on yours? i have the k02's and work great.
The same! love the BFGs
what is your front winch bumper ?
It's the "Blitz" bumper from Victory 4x4. The fit and finish is awesome and It retains the factory bumper (with some trimming), which I really like. It reminds me a lot of the options available for the 3rd gens, which I like a lot and this was the first like this that I'd seen for the Tacoma
