I listend Don three weeks before he died. After his last tune in this concert his audiance rested totally quiet for seemed endless time ... a message from the world beyond ... thanks !
A friend since HS days, a marvelous alto sax jazz improviser who went to many live music shows, told me about Cherry rehearsing this group. It was an open rehearsal so he was able to attend as an ordinary member of the public. Cherry indicated melodies by singing or playing them; some of the violinists took notes; that is, they wrote music notation of Cherry's melodies. I abandoned all my old LPs including this one when my turntable went away. I'm so glad to have Relativity Suite be here.
Don was a rare treasure ... pioneer of so called world music influences in jazz, master improviser, icon of free jazz ... Relativity suite is culmination of all that and reflects all of his many talents. Regards from Slovenia! Vladimir Trop
In 1980, I took a workshop with Don Cherry at Creative Music Studio in Woodstock, NY... Great workshop. Don way of teaching was all about learning everything by ear. On the spot. He will play the entire melody by sections, and you'll have to pick it up right away by ear. Then you'll have to remember the whole song and then improvise on it. That same year, I also took another workshop with Collin Walcott. Great Moments! That's the year I first came to NYC
La belleza de escuchar! excelente, gracias por comptir esta gema de amor por la naturaleza de la armonía de las cosas que abren el misterioso silencio.
lel while walking on the alps sometimes I improvise a similar mantra that is at the beginning of this album om mani muni mani taralara larala, great album however , love don cherry, but is the first time for me listening to this, thank you franky dudeee
Vero, ma il lavoro del basso di Haden, e non solo del basso, è preparatorio al cambio di ritmo che c'è nel secondo brano and so on. Il disco è una suite eccezionale
No. As I know is Desireless Don's original. Excellent interpretation of this tune is by Garbarek - Stenson quartet on album Witchi Tai To. Regards from Slovenia! Vladimir Trop

Don's wife produced those beautiful art works🇻🇨🇻🇨🇻🇨👍🏿🖤
Thank you , I was actually thinking who made those.
@@omnikosm8472 All her artworks for his album covers were exhibited in Sweden last year I think. Woven tapestries.
@@Vingul Thanks, beautiful work.
Watched a beautiful documentary on here which had a clip of her making these

thank you so much for uploading!!!!!
This is amazing. Thank you for making this available.
Thank you for posting this. Wonderful Don Cherry.
thank you so much for sharing! I just needed that and now I'm fine again
Otherwise known as the work he did that was included in The Holy Mountain.
That's where I know Desireless from! Thank you!
Didn’t know he did that
@Mac Jones I think it's actually spot on for the time. I think we have a bad habit of not attributing progressive/excellent ideas to the past.
@@patrickbarrow9060 Isnt this a variation of 'The Creator Has a Master Plan' melody by Pharoah Sanders?
this was what ive been looking for.
Love ❤ Thank you for sharing !!!

Does anyone know what kind of style this cover art is or where it’s based on ?
It's a quilt, a tapestry that his wife Moki made
I think it was a tapestry made by his wife Moki.
Mid-period Hippy?
the bassline at 3:30 is so familiar... stereolab!

I noticed he uses that rhythm in his another album Om Shanti Om
8:08 on .5 speed goes hard. lol

You should really watch the film. It's crazily amazing, art of the highest level.
Se drogaban machín! Qué bien!
