I love my Edgar Allan Poe deck! The cards are crazy slippery and the stock is super thin, but I love seeing themes from Poe's life and work depicted. I've got more into his work since getting the deck. It's been fun diving into the stories and poems to really get a feel for the card choices.
You definitely got a dodgy deck! Mine doesn't have any gloss issues.

Poe is huge in our home and mu lil one loved the deck (Poe collector) I am sad I didn't like it 😞

I reckon I would have loved this deck but it is out of my reach. But you never know It might go on special one day for me to be able to afford it. And think I am going to add it to my wish list.

Yeah, decks bought in local shops are very expensive.
I got this on Amazon in September for $28 so was worth it…but $60 I would not be happy…I like Llewellyns card stock….great for riffle bridge( which we know you don’t like …. Although I was shocked to see you do it recently with a deck can’t remember what deck tho…Vlad maybe) hopefully the book will help you like it a little more!!! Thanks for flip thru!!! This is a nice looking deck. I actually don't mind the cardstock from Llewellyn because it's much easier for me to handle. I love the backs. Thank you for sharing sweet lady. 💜

Im so glad you called it! Almost ALL of the mass produced are coming out Cartoony. I cant find anything i like. The faces and overall art on almost all is ruahed and look like sketches and dacea are chisled and pointy. I hope artist stop this soon or im out. Its very disappointing.
Right! What happened to all those diverse art style from about 6 years ago. They used to published such unique decks and now it’s all so the same.
The quality of the review in terms of setup and camera work is astonishing Avalon! I hope that card is on the mend after the bend 😂

The box, book and card stock seem very similar to the Spellcaster’s tarot which is also a Llewelyn deck. I love Poe but I’m not sure if I’ll get this. I find some mass market decks card stock to be too flimsy (it would be ideal if I was a riffle shuffler) but then you’ll get a deck like the Light Seers and the Witches Wisdom that have awesome card stock. Shame about the damage to some of the cards 😪
The card stock feels so thin that it gives the deck a cheap feel. It wouldn’t last long in the hands of a professional reader.
@@AvalonCameron it’s a shame really. 😪 some truly beautiful decks out there that are let down by their card stock. And yet so many have fabulous card stock 🤷🏻♀️

I'm not that phased really. I can't see myself using the deck all that much.
I’m also a huge fan of poetry and of Poe. It was interesting to see a walkthrough of this deck. I hadn’t seen any of the cards yet. I like the colors but the art is not at all for me. Llewelyn always has the worst card stock. Makes me crazy since the kits are pretty pricey for a mass market. The guidebooks are usually great, but the cards leave much to be desired. Glad to see instead of improving the stock, they just added a crappy gloss coating 🙄... I’d be interested in that guidebook for sure tho! I’d be interested to see what you think once you’ve gotten into it. Thanks for sharing this. I was super curious to see the cards from this one. Xoxo 💜
Yeah, Llewellyn stocks needs a big improvement. If US Games can do better, then so can Llewellyn.

The art style and quality of the deck is such a disapointment, sad face. I'm a huge Poe fan, I would of loved to see the images depicted with a more Tim Burton edge to the art work, whimsical dark, gothic, fantasy.
What a shame, I feel like an Edger Allan Poe deck could of had so so much more potential.
Have a crack at making one Taminga. I think you would do a grand job.
That poor card 😖 they really need to improve their quality... decks not horrible but I'm glad you showed it. Maybe somebody will make a better Poe deck.

Yeah, it was pricey for what it was.
it's such a shame. llewellyn takes artwork and puts it on cards which are too small and very poorly produced. i followed and love the forest of enchantment, but cannot use it. the artwork is gorgeous. the cards...are not produced well. 😐

I’m disappointed with this deck. I am a fan of Edgar Allen Poe and studied his life. These cards are too modern feeling and are surprisingly bright/vivid. I agree that the art style is the wrong choice for the theme of this deck and emotion. It’s just underwhelming. I’d be interested in reading the guidebook because I feel like effort was placed into choosing the scenes/stories that correlate with the suits and cards. Also, with the condition of your deck, I don’t know if I trust this it because that seems more than a minor imperfection and could potentially alter multiple decks.
I haven’t yet delved into the book but I do plan to this weekend. I guess the damage didn’t bother me so much because I was fussed on the deck anyway so I don’t really care. If you loved it, then I might have sent a email to Llewellyn.
