Fun fact: Project Wingman was made by 3 guys, a programmer, writer and composer using their parents' credit cards to fund the game.
Fun Fact: He wrote the Chicago part specifically because he knows your channel will react to his video. I think he commented that under Kit's reaction to this video.

What Max0r doesn't talk about here but does briefly shows is our co-pilot waifu, Prez, who only shows up if you fly a two-seater jet. And she may or may not be a Yandere.

Yeah you guys hit the nail on the head about it being similar to Ace Combat; the entire game is basically a love letter to the franchise and draws a lot of inspiration specifically from AC, the Belkan war. It really is AC on steroids, and in my opinion succeeds it in some ways. It’s super fun, surprisingly compelling, and pretty addicting. What makes it all the more impressive is that the dev team for this one was two guys, plus a composer. Speaking of which, yes, the soundtrack for this one is absolutely sublime. Easily one of the best video game OSTs to release in the last few years. My only critique of Max0r’s review here is that he chose to throw in some Ace Combat tracks too for some reason, instead of giving more of a spotlight on the composer’s work. Highly recommend this one, even if you only have a small interest in these types of games. It’s absolutely pure arcade style fun.

It's not a love letter. The 3 guys who made it just got fuckin sick of waiting for ace combat 7 so desided to make there own ace combat (with black jack and hookers).
Project Wingman is actually a Kickstartered fangame, but the AC community embraced it because if I remember correctly, it's developed when AC7 was taking really long to come out.
This game came the closest to a pure AC experience. It was a lot of fun. Having multiple special weapons per plane is a feature AC games needed. Yes it isn't realistic, but neither is carrying 300+ missiles. Reality needs to take a step back if it makes the game more fun. While not at the level of Yellow squadron, the leader of Crimson is memorable. Complete with ending monologue when you defeat him that screams projection and him having his own head up his backside. It is rare to be able to write a character so full of themselves and not come off as whiny. They nailed it here.
Project Wingman is absolutely amazing. If you want to play it it’s ok gamepass for both Xbox and PC. And it’s SO MUCH FUN. Yes there’s a lot of nonsense in the story. But it makes up for it by making it incredibly fun to play
Before Ace Combat 7 the only game in the franchise that had a PC release was Assault Horizon (generally despised by the community). The game started as a fan project to basically give the PC community its own iteration of the series. Ironically, both Wingman and AC7 started development in the same month, November 2015, with 7's official reveal the month after.
Definitely my favorite game, give it shot on the twitch channel! PW was made by fans of AC during a time when there weren’t any new AC games being made. AC7 was announced unexpectedly when PW was close to coming out, so the guys making PW decided to make it better and release it a bit later. The story is great, the settings are beautiful, and the gameplay is excellent.
Would definitely love to see you guys play this if you could. Kudos!

so the similarities you see to ace combat are there because of the real planes both are based on - most heads up displays are a shade of green and use boxes or similar icons to highlight important information relative to the REFERENCE POINT

I’d like to recommend a video on another game with Project in the title, “Project Zomboid Review | The BEST survival game ever made” by Fleekazoid. It’s got pretty similar energy to Maxor’s reviews too, maybe less unhinged.
