I made a drinking game and I took a shot for every time you said, "this bad boy" but I was wasted in the first 37 seconds.
In all seriousness, great video. Thanks so much!
@@ZachMartin04 haha! Glad I could get you buzzed! Thanks for watching!
i just put it on its side, on a bench, so i can work at the angle and height that is easiest...also replacing the vacuum lines will make it idle so much better, much overlooked repair...
I should of tried that because that rod was kicking my butt towards the end! I’m changing the prop here soon, will definitely check out the vacuum lines! Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching!
Thanks bro, great video
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
Good video. Have you had to clean/rebuild the carburetor and do you have a video on that? My Merc 2.5 four stroke idles fine but dies out when I turn the throttle. There's no inline fuel filter so can't change it out. Assuming it's a gunked up carb. Thoughts? Suggestions?
That’s the one thing I didn’t replace, the carb, and I have the same issues. Idk about cleaning it properly but it shouldn’t be to hard to replace. Unfortunately I sold it so I won’t be able to help but good luck and thanks for watching!
I just changed the impeller on my Mercury 2.5 but when I put it back together and when I want to start it, the forward gear does not come in, what did I do wrong?
Man it was really tricky putting the shifting rod back in place. You have to make sure once you disassemble everything NOT to shift it back to neutral, the motor HAS to stay on the position it was when disassembled. Definitely the hardest part of this whole process. Best of luck and thanks for watching!
Great video. Any tips on how you finally got the bottom end reattached?
The easiest way I found was to have the engine straight up, allowing the rod to float a bit and not lean to either side. That and A LOT of patience!
@@ABetterOutdoors Thanks for that.
Where can i find that oil and right spark plug
Easiest way for the spark plug is just removing the existing one and checking the model number. The oil can be found at bass pro, academy, even Walmart but I left a link in the description for Amazon.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! I'm about to change the impeller on my Mercury 2.5 four stroke. Where did you buy the impeller? I live in Orlando, Florida. I have found it and the gaskets on line.
So glad it helped!! I got most everything on Amazon (link in the video description) after finding part numbers on Mercury website. Thanks for watching!
Do you rather do the work yourself or take it to a mechanic??
after watching this, Id even do it on a friends boat.
