Meanwhile Gyutaro was able to emphasize with him to some extent since he knows the role of being the older brother and having to protect your little sister. Thats why he gave him a chance to continue living. Would have loved to see Rui and Gyutaro have a conversation with each other about that matter.

It’s kinda cool when you realize that Muzan actually liked Rui due to the fact that Muzan sympathized with Rui because they had similar struggles in life. They were both sickly as youths. And Muzan saw some of himself in Rui’s situation. That’s why he wanted to change him. He wasn’t like most of the other demons who got turned. Even the good ones were still killing even if it somehow were their jobs are if it affected their jobs. But Ruin was different, he was just a young boy who never got to live his life how he wanted because of his sickness. And Muzan for the most part experienced some of the same trials and tribulations Rui did growing up.
Rui is so tragic that I don't even care if he was supposed to be a bad guy.. I cried over his story and I wanted to give him a hug so bad!! The same with Gyutaro. They're my top favorite characters and precious baby bois in my eyes.

Another example is maybe gyutaro as he wanted to be stronger but he more or so wanted to protect daki since it’s the reason he became a demon which kind of held him back as he had a lot of potential that muzan saw in him. As Muzan says to the Upper Moons, they will fall in order of who has most of their humanity left. Rui's entire purpose for doing what he did was a human desire for family, and this made him highly emotional and predictable, hence Giyu's ease in offing him.

Rui was another great example of the duality within this show, hardly anyone was evil for the sake of it, a lot of doomed humans who made the terrible decision to become a demon for the most part , with that being said their deeds didn’t go unpunished and they faced judgment in the end, highlighting their human struggles, paired with the compassion even sometimes mercy k*ll*nag made me love this anime
Im kind of curious though, if Rui can cut off his own head and reattach it because it wasnt severed by Nichirin blade, why didnt any of the other demons do that? I can understand that most upper moons were pretty nuch unaffected by that, but surely some other demon might have thought of it at some point
because rui has threads that are small and make the strategy worth using. Other demons would be much more obvious due to their blood demon arts being so flashy, and ripping their head off by force is a dead giveaway. It's probably not worth trying without the whole "tricked you into thinking I was going to die" aspect.

I've heard a lot of explanations for that being along the lines of not wanting to feed the slayers easier opponents so they could get stronger but at the same time he doesn't just send the highest ranked upper moons or do the job of just destroying the slayers themselves so that's bs demon slayer just happens to be a poorly written story sadly enough

I think this battle is the most realistic fight in anime ever. Tanjirou struggles immensely and it shows. He doesnt get a random power up and his strength is earned. Mind you Rui is supposed to be LM1 level. Everything that happened was by pure chance and it all happened flawlessly. The hinokami kagura dance was something that was used to drive Tanjirous determination, but little did he know it was a technique of sun breathing. I just love this fight. If Tanjirou killed Rui by himself then I wouldnt be satisfied because obviously Rui is quite a large task still.

After that, Rui still won with his strategy and then Giyuu "luckily" made it there in time to save him.

Man we need an anime where there’s no plot armor. All the main characters are actually red shirts and die. But not in a Halo Reach fashion. Literally the focus changes from them to the bad guy and becomes all about the bad guys journey to redemption. Ok maybe not from others but at least he can Rest In Peace unlike the heroes he kills.

Cause plot armor, the demons always go at low power first and only use their strongest moves when the protagonists get their power ups. Was the same in the Akaza battle or the Daki one where Gyutaro only showed up a lot later

Even with the family members, lower ranks are no match for pillars. Just see how Giyu dealt with the " father" and with Rui which were both the most powerful members of the family.

I wish he were an upper moon and tanjiro met a different lower moon bc with his demon blood art and abilities it would’ve been such an interesting arc and it would’ve been longer and a better fight
Considering the father demon was close to the level of a lower noon himself and the other siblings all being rather strong as well and capable of killing many demon slayers. If Rui consolodated all of that strength into himself. He would have likely been lower 1. With time and desire he could have ranked up. But he didn't desire power.
the fact that Rui was muzan favorite lower demon, it explains why after Rui was killed that muzan kill the rest of the lower moon cause Rui lost to weaker and that he knew Rui could easily killed them and since he was killed and the rest of the lower moon was already coward he decide to end the lower moon once and for all

Rui created 9 family members including Rui but Rui killed 2 sisters and 2 brothers so now Rui only has 5 family members left including Rui but the father was killed by Tomioka Giyuu,the mother accepted her death and was killed by Tanjiro Kamado,the daughter was scared of death but was still killed by Shinobu Kocho,the son was always smiling and never accepted death and was killed by Zenitsu Agatsuma and lastly Rui the most powerful in the spider family and was lower moon 5,he was favoured by Muzan Kibutsuji but was killed by the Kamado siblings mostly Tanjiro Kamado,Nezuko Kamado unlocked her blood demon art thanks to that mission.

I wish he were an upper moon and tanjiro met a different lower moon bc with his demon blood art and abilities it would’ve been such an interesting arc and it would’ve been longer and a better fight
Considering the father demon was close to the level of a lower noon himself and the other siblings all being rather strong as well and capable of killing many demon slayers.
If Rui consolodated all of that strength into himself. He would have likely been lower 1. With time and desire he could have ranked up.
But he didn't desire power.

the fact that Rui was muzan favorite lower demon, it explains why after Rui was killed that muzan kill the rest of the lower moon cause Rui lost to weaker and that he knew Rui could easily killed them and since he was killed and the rest of the lower moon was already coward he decide to end the lower moon once and for all
