  • Residents of Ormond Beach, Fl banded together for a grassroots initiative to help clean their part of the Intracoastal Waterway known as the Halifax River in their span of the ICW.
Partnering with Coastal Conservation Association of Florida and Stroll Ormond Beach Waterfront magazine and with the help of Sponsors and private donations, Vertical Oyster Gardens, known as VOGs are being built and deployed on private docks.
This group eagerly wants other communities to follow suit and gather leaders to bring VOGS to all docks along the ICW.
VOGs attract spat (baby oysters) to attach themselves. 1 Oyster can clean 50 gallons of water a day! These VOGs create a habitat under docks cleaning the water and attracting fish.
