Loved indie bookstore day! Nothing crazy was happening at my favorite shop, but it got me out of the house on a rainy day and I picked up Chain-Gang All Stars, a graphic novel adaptation from a local artist of Secret Life by Jeff Vandermeer, and a graphic novel version of A Wrinkle in Time which felt too nostalgic not to take home.
This is crazy, you randomly popped up on my youtube feed today ! I guess that means I’ll have to stop by and say hello to my favorite security guard soon!
Last Saturday was a holiday in Slovenia and everything was closed, including the bookstores. But I was able to live vicariously through posts of fellow bookstagramers who shared their book-gold.
i found The Hearing Test to be quite meditative! i think i need to reread it again to see if moments felt too try-hard, but instead saw it as Lispectorism in the modern age. there's something distant yet hopeful at the end that i also didn't know how to describe, but it felt like an emotional swoop, one of those big ones you feel and don't know how to process. i guess how does one go back to normalcy after having a sense be gone for so long. something you didn't know you relied on so heavily.
Late to the party but I feel like now I desperately need to know what the books are that you always restock at Sunny's no matter what! Idk if this appeals to you as a video idea but I'd definitely watch if you decided to make a 'unpack books with me for Sunny's' video 🙃😬
