I was just in Boston last week for the first time, awesome city. Everyone was still talking about this game like it happened 5 minutes ago. I wish I was watching their whole season like my buddies at BU
My husband and I were at the Verizon Center for both the semis and the finals. We graduated from the Law School in '79 and watched BU win the NCAA title in 1978 (with some of the guys who went on to play on the "Miracle on Ice" Olympic team.) This win was truly overwhelming. Thirty years of following BU hockey and this was the best. We all saw one of the greatest college hockey games ever played that night. Yes, a sports classic.
Been watching the BU program since the fall of 1994 when I was a junior in high school. I was watching this from a bar in Marquette, Michigan, home of NMU and heart of CCHA country. This is the most amazing thing I've ever seen a BU team do, and probably ever will see. When Bonino tied the game, I let out a scream that probably the entire town could hear. ;)
A thousand times THIS! I fucking hate it when people ruin a video - especially when it is the lone one available - with some goddamn Korn in the background.
i must say, my terriers got lucky on that save by millan after they tied it. the puck's behind him and a miami guy got his stick in there. if the miami guy could have moved his stick a little, BU's goose is cooked. great win!
Zach Cohen was the extra attacker playing on the Bonino line during the second goal and Bonino was the extra man when he scored when the Wilson line was out there for the tying goal. Parker is a God.
That's just it. They couldn't clear the zone. They were outnumbered by the extra attacker, and though they were obviously still playing hard they didn't like as if they had as much energy as they did earlier in the 3rd. They were skating more slowly. They physically dominated the 2nd and 3rd periods, but I think all that effort took something out of them for the final minutes. My guys were VERY fortunate to be able to do something with it.
Anyone who enjoyed this game would appreciate the book "Burn the Boats" by Scott Weighart. Amazing story of the team's journey from the end of the 2007-2008 season all the way to the parade in April of '09. Great book and a great story.
One of the most thrilling finishes I've ever seen in a National Championship game in any sport. ESPN should drop dumb shit like poker and women's sports, put the NHL back on, and expand college hockey coverage.
This was such a mega choke though. No reason in 3:30 of play they can't even put a single shot on goal from anywhere on the ice. That's a sickening collapse.
Actually the game was a bore until the final minute. Miami beat Boston up and down the ice for 59 minutes. If Shilling had of fired the puck instead of dickin' with it Miami probably closes it out. I've never seen a team as lucky as BU. Out played, out matched, and still came away with the win. Hell, Vermont should have beat them on Thursday!
i remember watching this game. i remember watching miami slowly lose it, and at one point, i was cheering for BU just because miami... if you cant hold a lead, you don't deserve to win.
Because it's fucking stupid, it's just a desperate way to get more viewers. In a real sport people get penalized for this kind of unsportsmanlike behavior
College Hockey is just amazing.
I love how nuts the bench goes at 5:08. This was quite possibly the greatest game I have ever seen. What an unbelievable comeback by BU.

They nearly did it to my Huskies last Sunday!!!!
And that's why Jack Parker is so well known to hockey. Yeah Terriers! :)

I am from Boston. There is a part of me that felt bad for Miami. They played the perfect game for about 59 minutes...
bought the book... love it..
Saddest day in History
Still makes me glad...
What a collapse. I remember it so vividly and Miami almost reversed it against Umass Lowell but the River Hawks pulled off a big win.
So cool. I think Barry Melrose is a great commentator.
I absolutely agree. College sports history.
I go to miami university and we still haven't recovered, like our hockey program is still pissed about it
great call by jack parker to pull the goalie god knows I wouldn't of
Epic choke!
SERIOUSLY! It needs to be!
Still makes me sad...
at 2:22 I was balling my eyes out.
Damn it, I wanted to learn more about John Scherer and the company he represents!
Why isn't this nominated for an ESPY?

I felt so bad for there Goalie
does anyone else notice the slash in front of the net after bu scores to tie it?
who won the game?
i was at this game
miami was lucky they didn't get a slashing penalty for that chop after the tying goal
how can you not accept fighting in a sport is a better question
Wow

Sorry cool
