  • Today, we're sharing a quick update on the new Boss ATV snow plow that we just picked up and the loft for the barn, which the guys recently framed.
There's still a lot of work to be completed for the barn build, but it's getting there day by day. We also added the new Boss ATV plow to better service a few of our clients with large sections of sidewalks to be plowed.

    Brian,
I built my shop 7 years ago which is a 40x60x12. 2 tone with spray foam insulation, concrete floor throughout, all in 30k. When i checked with morton, they wanted over 80k for the same size, building less insulation. They are good but very expensive in general. Even when i used to work for and help build these buildings back in the late 80's early 90's morton was still expensive. It can be done or used to be able to be done pre covid.

Sure, but I promise you the build quality is not the same. The materials involved are entirely different. And that’s the difference.

I built my shop in December of 2018 - 30x40x12, with concrete (10x10 section was 6" all other 4"), vinyl siding, dimensional shingles, with 2 10'x10' doors and one-man door. Nothing crazy and I finished the interior with plywood and sheet rock with r-18 insulation in the walls and blow in in the ceiling. All in, I was just shy of 30K. It just depends on your options and who you go with!

Looking great. That “dead” area at the stairway might be a good location for a medium sized vertical air compressor. Just make sure it has some ventilation if you box it in with a wall structure. We have had the same crappy weather up north also. I can relate to buying snow equipment while it’s raining. I had to update a couple of my snow blowers and haven’t used either of them more than 1 time. Hopefully we get some snow pretty soon. God bless!

Hey Brian, I’m up in Maine, our local lumber yard has garage packages all materials included 24x36 with living space above, with concrete concrete pad, $32,000. That’s building it yourself. From comment at 5:20. Obviously with paying someone it would be atleast double, then cost of electrical, plumbing, insulation, etc. But in my area, yes, you can get a garage on a slab for ruffly 30,000 building it yourself.

Congratz! Looks nice. I had the same setup. Its great for speed and doing light snowfalls, but not great with heavy snow. Had to constantly lean forward on the bars to keep the plow down and help with steering. It was a nice toy/writeoff but we sold it for a JD 1025 with a heated cab with blower in the front. Had the loader for landscape/mulch work (but no A/C in cab). Its been a far better business investment. Might be a good alternative for you and your business and property.

You can totally build one for less than 100k. I know ppl that have build them for $40k or so depending size. Different area but still. Shouldn’t be close to 100k. You could have cut a lot of cost by not having the siding continue to the inside and just leaving beams exposed. Most are building shops out of steal beams and no finish inside. The metal from outside would be seen inside as well.

    • @BriansLawnMaintenance

Shop is gonna be SUPER DOPE!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not lose the plans. Frame those bad boyees & hang in the shop. Now, here's some more unsolicited advice & given with the best intentions. Leave the springs alone on the 570. It will ride rough without the plow on it if you upgrade. Just have your guys be mindful. Knowing you, you'll be upgrading to some sort of sidewalk machine soon enough. Put a piece of 2x6 under the gate whan lowered & it will ease the angle when loading & unloading. Plus your idea for back weight will help too. Frame the space out above the stairs to loft making an opening towards the stairs so when ppl. are coming down the stairs you can something corny/cool/weird displayed there. Something that wouldn't go anywhere else but, that isolated display area. It's coming together as it should, BLESSINGS to you guys for 2024, Dirty Jersey out!!

We’re going to put some additional plywood down on the weighted section + mats. But the trusses are 12” spaced instead of 16” for that reason. Should be ok!
