  • Credicor once again proving why it's the strongest corp. Some discussion about 1 actioning in this video. I think I made my position clear in the video, but occasional 1 actions are fine. Just don't only 1 action for an entire generation or the game will be twice as long.

    The open is interesting. 1.) If you take one less card -- ditching preserve I guess? -- you can do both Soletta and Acquired Company on the first turn. 2.) Alternatively, I would have been quite tempted to get company/mining/preserve out first turn and then have two titanium to make a gen2 soletta, and still have enough extra cash to buy two cards. Maybe you could explain why both of these options are worse? I can guess that 7 heat is worth more than $4 and 1 titanium, and I'm probably overvaluing MC$ produciton, because I like being able to afford to play cards.

      Heat prod is most valuable the earlier you play it. Since it helps you control game pace, it's much more important to have 7 heat than 7 cash. They're roughly equivalent in quantified value, but 7 cash is ~1VP. 7 heat can be the difference between an entire generation which could be 20+VP

    With the 1 actions, it seems like the issue is when your opponent starts a round and does 2 actions and then you only do 1. The smart play for anyone starting is to always do 1 action because doing 2 might give an advantage to your opponent (like it did in this case). But then we are immediately back to everyone doing 1 action and the game is way longer. So I do think you broke the convention for your own benefit.
    Basically the two stable game-states are (1) you follow the 2 action convention always or (2) you always do 1 action by default.
    If your opponent is going to do one action when it benefits them, then you are giving them a competitive advantage (which is what happened here). And then state #1 will devolve to #2 in a very competitive environment.

    How do you set the replayer to skip all the game mechanics etc...? I'm finding it difficult to look at replays as it takes so long to skip through all the game mechanics

      Under the settings in the gear on the top right, there's options. One of them has animations and animation speed. Set those to the lowest possible and it's much faster.

    Loving the video. I would like to share a game of mine but when I post the link to the game in the comments, youtube automatically deletes it. Is there another way I can send you the game?

      You could send me a message on board game arena with the table number.

    I'm really not sure about the double SP greenery just to deny a milestone, even with CrediCor.
    Also why not going search for life + plantation for 18 instead of SP for 19 ?

    • @ThreadPacifistTM
      @ThreadPacifistTM  Před 8 dny

      That's fair, but I'm taking 3 points on the O2 track that belong to my opponent and I'm taking a milestone and I'm taking ocean rebates. So we can think of this is 38MC for a 12MC cash swing, a 6 VP swing and 3VP, and then a 16 cash swing for a 10 VP swing. So overall, it's 42 total cash for 19VP difference. I think that's worth it. It's about 2MC per VP in the differential.
      The reason I didn't do SFL + plantation is because plantation can become better with ecozone or other cards. Since it's only a 1MC difference, see if I can snag a 1/2VP later down the line.

    @10:00 I have no idea how anyone could possibly be mad that you did one action. That's absolutely a strategic part of the game. Obviously, it can be beneficial to delay until your opponent passes and then pull out a bunch of surprises and or set yourself up for 1st player. Like, what?!

    • @ThreadPacifistTM
      @ThreadPacifistTM  Před 21 dnem

      If everyone does two actions, the game takes half as long. Most of the experienced steam players try to adhere to this for the sake of time. Doing 1 action just makes your opponent do 1 action and no benefit is obtained. Obviously if your opponent always does 2 actions and you're doing 1, then it's an advantage, but no one is going to give themselves an action disadvantage by doing 2 if you do 1.

    Masterful game! I do have to comment that your opponent passed with 20 cash, simply greeding the cash and calling the credicore gardener a bluff. I'm not hating on my fellow Belgian but that was a mistake on his part even if you one actioned

    • @ThreadPacifistTM
      @ThreadPacifistTM  Před 21 dnem +2

      Yes, I do think it was a mistake. I think vs a Credicor with 40 cash, you have to claim your milestone. Greeding it doesn't achieve much.

  • @danielmdubois
    @danielmdubois Před 21 dnem

    Very weird/interesting to see you not spend your heat in an effort to lengthen the game, and then bail when big asteroid/deimos down come out, leaving you 3+ heat activations going wasted. At what point can you mathematically say, "This game will definitely go to gen13, therefore I can start spending my heat"? Or were you holding out hope for a gen14? If you were, when did you give up on that hope?

    It's very easy for a Credicor with 42 mc, 4 titanium and 2 plant to snipe Gardener. And in next gen he will move first. I think it's too greedy to pass with 20 mc in gen 5.

    • @Cirno_9999
      @Cirno_9999 Před 15 dny

      Normally this Ecoline player has to claim Gardener in gen 6 even if the milestone is not claimed. SP greenery is not unacceptable for Credicor (similar to Greens policy)

    Maybe one day, you can take a lower tier corpo and try to make a video on your thought process

    • @ThreadPacifistTM
      @ThreadPacifistTM  Před 21 dnem +1

      One day I'll have to pick one, but generally I try to take the strongest corp when available.
