That's exactly right. Even when I figured that it has to be an April Fool's gag, I wanted it so badly that I kept looking for a way to believe. That's the apex of April Fool's gags.

I had it come out at midnight as the first hint of what to expect ;) It was schedule for 10pm march 31, but I changed that ;) Glad I did as Jared dropped his at the same time.

Thats Norman. I thought of creating a user manual, but that would have taken too long.
It's April 1st. Just saying. After the R5 firmware, I don't trust Canon Rumours. In fact Canon Rumours isn't carrying this "leaked spec" at all. This R1 just sounds too good to be true. I think some of the spec might be true or possible such as the backside illuminated sensor and dual processors and even an AI chip. The dual CFExpress type C cards just doesn't seem plausible as the size would bulk out the camera to almost unusable proportions. There are no CFExpress type C cards for sale and no readers yet. A self heating battery would consume the power it was storing significantly reducing its use in camera. The cost for a camera body with these specs has got to be $8k or more if true, imho.
It's not about trust Grumble. Reporting on rumours is like watching one of those Cold War spy movies... the information is always suspect, well almost always. The information gets handed off so many times and can change. Craig is one of the best at getting it right, but sometimes, not so much.
Best April fools prank yet. Way better than Froknows photo prank on the R1. Reference to Sunday was what gave it away for me.
Just picked up a Canon R6 Mk ll btw and itâs great. Was worried about low megapixel count but after reviewing a few images that notion went away. Now Iâm trying my hand at video( being primarily a stills shooter).
I did like fros preparation H commercial, but I think he was being more realistic than me ;) I just went for it ;)
definitely had me fooled. I was dubious about the price and the high iso.
Oddly enough, but that high ISO came from a R1 rumour some 15 months ago ;)
That will be a reality at least by the year 2035 when 8k will be a norm đ when all video platforms from CZcams to HBO shift to 8k

Sorry, I had a Canon D2000 in 2000, it cost ÂŁ10,500, so obviously you have the price wrong. The D2000 was 2mp, so the R1 will probably be in the region of 5000*102/010323, or in America 5000*102/030123. I did wonder if they were going to use medium format ideas, like the Mamiya C330, twin lens reflex, in that way using the existing R5 sensor you immediately have a 90mp baseline. TLR technology gives you the opportunity for stereo or 3D images too. 4D using the AI chip.
Interesting! I am invested in Sony right now but this camera has me taking a second look. I will wait to see how the a1 MK2 turns out before I make a decision.

Btw: there is very solid rumour that the R1 will be able reach a max resolution 1632 Mega Pixel using IBIS High Res taking 16 images, but unlike the current implementation in the R5, it will deliver that 1632 MP image as a RAW file. Managed by the internal AI processor, movement in the picture or camera will be totally eliminated, even making it fully possible to shoot handheld in IBIS High Res with the R1.
I want it, the sooner the better - anyone know where pre-order is possible ?

I read that it has a 16-photo IBIS quantum resolution mode where all 16 shots happen at the same time. Then, you get in-body computational AI to output a final 22GP photo with zero motion issues. Finally!

I'm not going to lie, I really should have seen this coming. The "DON'T LOOK", 3.6 MegaBytes per second, 12k video and 8k 120, 16 bit color depth... that would be way over 7,000.

I would rather see the 25 stops of dynamic range then high mega scoobies. I use med Raw with my canon 7d for Real estate photography. unless your printing 40x60 or bigger prints who cares about the many Mega scoobies?
You forgot to mention that its AI is voice controlled as well, you can tell it what kind of photo you want it to take and then, even if the lens cap stays on, it will create that photo for you.
I heard it pairs with a Tesla with the Canon R1 mounted on top and the Tesla goes off on it's own to a beauty spot and takes the pictures for you.
Perhaps I will include that next year ;)

Given its now April Fools Day...you know if its really $6500, I might consider it...if its more than that, likely a hard nope. I'm a hybrid shooter at this point but those video specs are super bonkerito! That camera truly would do it all. Will be interesting to see what Sony comes up with...coz if the R1 is $6500, it'll turn the a1 into swiss cheese.

Lol, with a card that big, the R1 would be huge. Great April fools prank, just wish it was actually true! And with those video specs, this thing would overheat big time in a body like the 1dx mark iii. Maybe not like you mentioned, but I think it probably would. The Ursa 12k has 12k at 60fps, but it can only do that because of its design. I think at a certain point there is only so much possible with current technology. But if it was a true leak, I would buy it in a heartbeat! (if I had that kind of money)

9:45 "12K over-sampled 8K 120p" I think there is a possibility this might actually happen for the R1, if it is released next year. It would need at least a 88.5MP sensor to sample 12K. I think full frame could go higher in megapixels, given that cropped Medium Format cameras are going higher than 150MP. It would be at least $8,000 and very large, but that is fine.
8K120 for sure, but 102mp and 12K video, that would take a lot of power and is not a role the camera has been known for.

Is the self heating battery based on the PE-N15 battery pack?
It seems plausible to me that oversampling my increase the dynamic range (Think of a subdivided square, then you can have 5 different levels of "Off-and-on-ness" (the number of subpixels lit up instead of just off-and-on). Any rumors about the dynamic range of the camera in 12K, 8K, 4K? also cost?

Sadly this is actually what I want from the R1 late 2024 release đ maybe only 80mp would be ok. Also a larger LCD screen you could invert, the black one on the R3/5 is small and doesnât show enough info.
This is similar spec to the BM12k that was released 2 years ago. So its possible. Just have to do some heat management vodoo. I bet it will be pretty heavy because of the heat sinks...

m.2 drives can achieve 10GB/s and are quite small and inexpensive. would be great to have a camera that took those.
CFexpress use the same technology. The question is do you want soldered into the camera or removable ;)

I'm not seeing it's WiFi capabilities, but if it has internal GPS (yay!), i'm thinking no way it wouldn't also have Blutooth and Wifi.
