The Best Way To Buy A Cutting In Roller And Replacement Roller Sleeves In The UK. MUST WATCH

- I did this video because I believe these Linomat rollers are a massive game changer in the decorating trade as it saves so much time. The trouble is in the UK you have to buy the whole thing but on Dutch sites you can buy spare refill Roller Sleeves and the guard with brushes.
so I purchased a few from Decorating Direct and tried to find spare Sleeves but to no joy.
I went into Brewers and found the Hamilton Midi Sleeves which are spot on size wise with the same core etc.
so the medium pile and long pile both work with the cage so the only thing is the guard with brushes. I guess for now we will have to buy a whole edge roller for now in the UK but at least I solved the replacement sleeve problem.
...another Saturday morning tutorial: thanks 4 the introduction & insights...
...always something helpful
RESPECT
Thanks mate 👍🏻
Love your videos Dan, your a fellow man of skill, i dont trust these things at all tho, maybe show us a video using dark colours with them, that way we can see how sharp the lines are, and then maybe....just maybe il be convinced, keep up the good work tho Brother 👍
I am already. Painting for years but I love your videos. I can keep learning. Manny thanks
Thankyou so much mate cheers
The Hamilton made for the trade cheaper range orange brushes pound for pound are unbelievable, nice and short for cutting in feature. Very impressed with these
Awful brushes .. just terrible
Def gonna give these a try! My cutting in isn't the greatest so this could be a game changer for a diy er like me
Brilliant mate will make life much easier
100 percent mate. It's so quick and accurate
I think I’m convinced mate those lines are crisp as 😮
Very informative video, shame you never used a more darker contrasting colour then the line could be seen more clearly, hard to tell with the light 👍
Many thanks. But yes it works well with dark colours too
Can I ask you a question I’m not a professional decorator just a housewife but I do enjoy decorating I’ve just stripped off ugly chipboard wallpaper but it’s left lots of crumbled walls what’s the best thing to do because I’m definitely not experienced when it comes to plastering 😮
Hi.
I would use a plaster primer like Optiva Primer by Tikkurila
Then once dry sand it down with a Mirka sander then fill up with Easyfill 20 then sand again and prime. Only then I would put 2 coats of my finishing paint on.
Where did you purchase the roller unit from please
Decorating Direct. Type in Linomat and it will show up
Does the plastic leave scratch marks on the ceiling?
No not at all. Just make sure you ceiling is fully dry. I think if you have to get a room done in a day then do the walls first then the ceiling edge as you can always cut you white line into the wall colour as it leaves a nice edge boarder
Have you tried any other sleeves on these yet Dan?
Hey mate. I've found out that the company that sent it to me now do the official replacement sleeves and the brush part
@@danielnugentpainteranddeco557 I dont see it on decoratingdirect? I ordred 2 rollers from them last night and a Hamilton midi from amazon.
Always use mini rollers when cutting in for a continuous roller finish as opposed to brush & brush marks , i use the Axus heavy pile which when you run off is the same as my purdy emulsion roller & doesn't leave a heavy finish, the pile on these minis are covered on the tip so it gets into the corners when you just dab the edge on scuttle etc saves loads of time & no brush marks, from a painter with 38yrs exp 😉 i commented before seeing all vid, never used these guard type normally these gimmicks are a waste of time & just for non painters, I try to keep my cutting in line to a minimum & roll up as close as possible without sideways rolling, do these not scratch the lid ?
How do you cut in with a roller without the guard on ????
@@geoffreymeare3406 im talking corners mainly but if mist coating plaster etc i use all round including ceiling to wall line as that way you have a continuous roller finish & the only time i brush is cutting in different colour on wall etc
No mate. Just make sure the lid is fully dried out then happy days.
will they work up against coving or dado rails
With coving you can always paint the bottom bit (that joins on to the wall) the same colour as the wall and then wipe any excess from the face of the coving. Even if the coving is white and the bottom of the coving is a different colour as on the wall, no one will be able to tell. It's an optical illusion. But yes it obviously would work the same on coving and dado as you are running it against a right angle. But you could emulsion against a glossed dado and then just drag the corner of a damp cloth along it to clean the emulsion off and give a nice clean line. Just the way you would wipe around an emulsioned light switch.
Has anyone tried this tool against plaster coving ? Keen to see if a 6-8mm lip is enough to stop this catching the coving ?
I would say it would leave a boarder line underneath but I've not tried it out yet underneath coving
Thanks. House has coving everywhere and have a lounge to do before Xmas. Not a professional so used the “Pink” tesa tape 5yrs ago but found it pulled the white paint off the coving occasionally. Cutting a dark colour into coving is an art that you professionals make look easy ! The tool really needs to be within 3-4mm to make it look ok as when painting the underside of the coving I’ve bought it down the wall 10mm.
Where can I buy the cutting in roller please ?
Decorating Direct. Look for Linomat edge roller in the search bar
Or Amazon.
Where can I get these shipped to the US?
Probably Amazon is you best bet mate
Type in Linomat and it should show an edge roller
the margin at the top looks bigger with the hamilton rollers than with the roller on rhe original video
You could be right there as it crossed my mind
It may have to be in the UK we buy a whole new one but that company iconicwalls.co.uk messaged me to say they now stock refill sleeves. I've checked and they do
Not very clear
Iconicwalls now do all the replacement bits so all good.
sacrilegious
