For black smearing you can increase your monitor's contrast it'll help lessen the black smearing.
You may find an option called shadow control or black color control anything related to that, what it does is that it makes the black color more like grey, u can control its percentage and make it like 30 to 40% grey so that u don't see this black smearing at all but yes, it'll not make your monitor's quality as good as it was but that's a fix to note that's all.
*Overshoot explanation correction: It causes inverse ghosting and that is caused by too much overdrive in your monitor.

Thanks for telling the most correct settings for this monitor. This video is really like a guide.
Thank you! I was having bad ghosting in fullscreen minecraft, and setting the monitor's response time to normal worked for me. I spent so much time fiddling around in nvidia's control panel with no luck.
it mosly solved my problem . thank you you made my day . i was so upset ,sad because of va monitor and even if its not full solved it still made me happy thank you .
Man, that made me so happy, too. Glad I could help you.
@Spiren97 it worked thanks 😊 very much ❤🎉
also people should try to switch between DP1.2 and DP1.1 in the monitor menu, this fixed it for me.
i changed from 1.4 to 1.2. tried 1.1, but it limits my frequency to 144, and my monitor is 240. thanks for the tip bro, i will try it
nice video man, it helped me a lot
When I turn on overdrive even at its lowest setting, it introduces inverse ghosting, which is just as annoying as the smearing. I either have to deal with the smearing, or deal with the inverse ghosting with less delay 😢
Probably not your issue but my monitor is a 240hz and the computer was at 60hz which caused a ghosting like effect.
oh you should always check that your refresh rate setting on windows setting is set to highest to that of your monitor, but I'm glad that your issue was resolved.
Adaptive Sync on my 244hz Samsung monitor was put white ghost trails on everything I played, I turned it off and it is much better.
Glad it did the trick for you.
VRR is so much better than Vsync though. If you have quality issues with it on, then you should return the monitor....not disable VRR.
Nice video bro. I have a Viewsonic XG270QC and i fixed my black smearing problem. The best settings for me are: Response time = Ultra fast, OC mode= on and gamma= 2.4
we have the same monitor, but i don't know how to turn on oc mode
How did you enable OC mode?
You can find it under Display > OverClocking
You can find it under Display > OverClocking
Also, I discovered this panel is even better than what you can achieve using its own settings. You can crank up the gamma in the monitor and decrease it Nvidia control panel eliminating ghosting , reducing contrast from Nvidia also helps a lot.
When i set overdrive to boost, it turns off automatically when i shut down computer and i have to set it every time i turn pc on. What should be a trouble?
u mean u changed your overdrive in your monitor to boost and whenever u restart your pc it resets?
that may be a driver issue if so, go to your device manager and go to monitors then right clcik on your monitor and choose uninstall driver then replug both your power connector in ur monitor and ur display cable in ur gpu. if it's monitor related then it must have an option or something that triggers an auto reset for the overdrive, so try to look for that and make sure u save changes when u do the overdrive on your monitor
*Be aware that some monitors will reset the overdrive when enabling VRR or variable refresh rate ( freesync ) so try to disable that if it's turned on
I reduced the refresh rate and increased response time. This fixed the black smearing a lot on my Odyssey G5 flat VA monitor. The deep contrast on the VA panel is everything. I do not care about high refresh rate.
Bro how to do it in laptops
i have a victus laptop and ghosting and tearing are killing me
it’s IPS 144 hz
thank you
thanks you for the video for this monitor i have the samsung odyssey g51c 32 like is the same setting for ghosting i use black equalizer to 4 with fps mode and color cool 1 brightness 50 contrast 51 and freesyng on that is for fps games the black equalizer work to clean ghosting in this monitor
Yes that too helps so much, but sadly, I don't have black equalizer option in my monitor. Also, thank you for sharing your settings
can anyone help? i have the ASUS VG24VQE 23.6" LED 165 Hz and it keeps ghosting while playing games, does anyone know a solution?
so if i see that in those UFO's that appear is like a color texture behind them, that means that is should lower my Level of Response TIme right?
yes 👍
Did you use HDMI cable?Or DPI cable
@@KingCobraYT01 yes I did,I use HDMI
Overdrive on lower fps or when u get fps drop it ghosts like crazy
holly shit, I truned off the respone time on LG ultragear 24GQ50F and the smearing is gone, thx a lot
убрал почти все
NVIDIA
If I reduce the brightness and contrast, will the problem be solved?
I bought a CRUA monitor and I have this how do I fix this on this type of monitor?
You Need to set you blacklevel to 60
What settings u use cause i had the same model and the blurry thing is making me go crazy
in the menu > Game >
Refresh Rate: 165
Response Time: Fastest
FreeSync Premium: Off
if u want my other settings,
Picture Mode: custom
Brightness: 100
Contrast: 80
Sharpness: 60
Color:
Red 50
Green 50
blue 50
Gamma: Mode1
@@Spiren97why you on 100 brightness bruh
less Smearing@@dinosharttt
is there an option to turn on overdrive for laptops?
No
set fastest (mbr) to reduce ghosting i hoope its working.
Will experience more ghosting if I play on low brightness
But standard response time is very bad
Why are you getting a stutter warning when doing the ufo test ?
it's a browser quirk
I only have this problem playing sekiro on my 144 hrtz MSI laptop. I don't get it
You provably already fixed this, but Fromsoft games are set to run in 60fps. They work a lot better in windowed mode, and there’s programs you can download that will make it borderless.
@@DrRumsmuggler wow never Heard this before. I already finished the game on my steam deck but I'll be doing a NG+ soon and will give this a try. Thanks!
I regret buying a VA monitor
Same I want my money back
ips monitors are indeed superior, but VA monitors are cheaper, and it has way better contrast and viewing angles than TN monitors and it goes toe to toe with ips panels in this category, the only downside is that it has less response time than ips that has less than the tn panels, but it depends on what VA monitor you got, as for me I got one of the worst in terms of ghosting and stuff (Samsung Odyssey G3 ag320 165hz) but I managed to lessen that by a lot by making some adjustments in the settings and I'm pretty much fine with how it is rn
@@Spiren97 Same here! I got an aoc ultrawide 3440x1440p 144hz monitor with a va panel that was super cheap but the ghosting was BAD. Not anymore though as I adjusted shadow control and tried on different gamma settings and not ghosting has been reduced although now it doesn't look as good as an ip panel as it did look pretty good but I am willing to sacrifice a very small amount of quality for reduced ghosting.
@@Spiren97 I just found out my monitor isn’t even VA, it just has a super shitty panel, but my friends and shit told me it was VA, but I looked it up, and it wasn’t.
I have an ips that has ghosting and a bit of blurring plus black smearing. Most of it’s fixed but still a bit blurry. I don’t mind blurry ness neccicarily because that’s what I’m used to and it looks like natural motion blur. IPS can be shiet too.
after switch from 100hz to 60hz it feels better , why ?
yes, in some monitors lowering your refresh rate fasten the response time by a bit, but in most cases it's the opposite, the higher the refresh rate is the faster the response time and input delay in a monitor.
but as I did in the video, try to temper with the settings of your monitor, like any setting for the response time, try to switch options till u reach a satisfying point.
on my monitor do i enable adaptive sync for cp=ompettive gaming let me khow
No
Using the odyssey g3, this made no difference
