Shees, I was already post-college in 1999. The benefit of being a manchild like Blink-182 then is that I got to experience all these things in my 20's, and I remember vividly how much Pokemon just dominated pop culture. I don't think this story does justice to how big it got, I mean you had people fighting over them (I saw one inside Burger King), you had millions and millions of kids like you (and younger I'm sure) just eating up every bit of this craze.
I would say it was Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, rurouni Kenshin (samurai x) and Gundam Wing which brought Anime to the "mainstream" in the west. To me it feels as if Pokemon normalized having extreme marketing and campaigns focused on kids to earn gigantic amounts of money.
probably because Nintendo decided that would never be Westernized and shown to an American audience. I think Nintendo Japan probably wanted to sweep it under the rug and pretend it never happened.
Sadly ALL passes but ALL those moments we lived with Pokémon are always the strenght we demand to face nowadays bitter empty days crying bitter nostalgia tears at least life was good once in our lives! 2023 december
Rugrats In Paris felt like a bigger jump in quality from the TV show. That said, Pokemon movie 2 and afterwards have better animation than the first one.
I Was In My First Year Of Middle School (1999-2000) Along With Some Of My Bestest Buddies.
You sir, are legendary. Keep leveling up
I was 4 years old when the series first aired on GMA Network in late 1999.

I love videos about pokemania in 1999. Thank you for sharing.
Oh, 1990s. You were Such an Amazing time...
0:29 look how young he was!!
Whose here after seeing Ash & Pikachu’s last episode?
Bezos. As awkward as ever.
I didn't know Amazon was relevant in the 90s too consider the internet didn't become mainstream in American homes until the mid to late 2000s
When you really think about it this anime is what put anime out there altogether

I agree. This is what got me and all my millennial friends into anime. I really credit Pokemon for the current anime craze
Happy National Pokemon Day from CNN
looks like Red became a financial reporter after becoming the champion
What a time to be a kid. I remember it fondly
Stay legendary
Adjust the amount of money Pokemon generated by inflation and we are talking Billions
1:55 This was recalled in December of 1999.
Why

I like to see Videos of pokemania.
I’m surprised they didn’t recap the the seizure episode considering this was the same channel that talked about it 2 years before this news report

@@jackson5116 thankfully that didn’t work out cause everyone still talks about it to this day
The lost episode no one who grew up with Pokémon will ever see the light of day
@@dougxvale it’s much easier to find then you think

2:04 This is where one of the voice samples in the Beastieball character creation music comes from.
0:55 bummer, it didn’t. But still Pokemon The First Movie is the highest grossing anime film in America and was more awesome than The Rugrats Movie.
It did outgross it

The dub of the movie was so hated back then
@@dwainsimmons3447 I’m wasn’t talking about the dub.
