      Late 70s as it still has the round sealed beam headlights, 1980 and on had the square sealed beam, 2 or 4 of them depending on year and trim. 1979 was the last year of the round on GM full size truck platform (Chevy and GMC full size pickups, 2 door Blazer/Jimmy, and Suburban)
      Hope this helps!

    • @RadialSkid
      @RadialSkid Před 5 lety

      Given how similar the trucks look, it's entirely possible that the trucks used in Messenger of Death were leftover trucks from Over the Top. The movies were filmed a little over a year apart, according to IMDB, and Over the Top being a higher-budgeted production, they probably had more than one truck portraying the protagonists' truck.

    • @claytonowens413
      @claytonowens413 Před 5 lety

    • @FLYBOY409
      @FLYBOY409 Před 5 lety +1

      @@Slim_Slid At first i thought it was a 351 but a lot of sites pointed that the truck from duel is actually a 281 with a tag axle and they showed why because there's no driveshaft between the two rear axles and all confirmed on the internet by experts plus in the IMCDB it will tell you more, trust me and see it for yourself. There were 4 or 5 trucks used in Duel with one of them been a 351, the main truck and the rest are 281s modified to be 351 but they use tag axles instead of actual tandems.

    • @Slim_Slid
      @Slim_Slid Před 5 lety

      @@FLYBOY409 You believe what you want to believe buddy.The Peterbilt 281 doesn't have a tandom axle and it's not "Tag" it's "Tandom axle".The Peterbilt 281's always had single rear axles and then the 351's always had the tandom axles.That's what made them different even though they are the same truck still.
      Speaking about the Duel truck,all three trucks they used in that movie (Even though only two made it on screen and one was destroyed) are all 281's,not 351's,and four to five trucks were never used in the film,only three,with one being destroyed when it drove over the cliff.
      So I'll say it one last time,the Peterbilt 281 and 351 aren't the same truck because the axles make them different and the Peterbilt 281 has single rear axles,not the 351,and the Peterbilt 351 has tandom rear axles.Peterbilt did the same thing with their previous needle nose trucks such as the 280 and 350 before the 281 and 351 was even manufactured starting in 1954 and production for the 351 ended in 1976,the 281 if I remember correctly was cut in production in 1969 or so because of the 351's axles and it's popularity.
