fr, this whole thing is stupid, literally other people in the industry do this all the time. olivia rodrigo did the same thing with vinyls that contains different songs for her recent album, guts. ariana grande does something similar with vinyl variants but has different cover art instead of a certain song selections. there have been deluxe and remastered versions of albums that other artists and bands have done for a really long time, it’s just evolved into releasing multiple variants of the same thing. it’s a method for artists to make more profit and to keep fans engaged. i find this whole situation to be something unproblematic that the public has made problematic, just because they want to point their finger towards someone they despise or dislike. if billie didn’t specify any names, that’s all we need to know. people can’t learn to drop it and move on 🙄

K-pop albums at least have two or three versions where all versions have a completely different theme (mostly, or used to. It kinda starts getting very similar versions by now actually and I don't like that too) and completely different items. You get a different photobook in each album, different posters, sometimes completely different items when one has for example a keychain and the other has stickers.

I went to see an Aussie artist (not well known around the globe but he's pretty big here) I paid $245, now this in a smaller venue, it was a light dinner, a glass of wine and this guy was the entertainment. i think for taylor and beyoncé, who have been in the industry for (one over, one nearly) two decades, who each have like around 10 albums… a 3 hour show is understandable. they’re two of the biggest artists in the world right now and people WANT those 3 hour shows. im not the biggest taylor defender, i don’t think she needs me to defend her anyway. Its the frustration towards Taylor always winning. People forget how Taylor moved her red tv re release in 2021 to accomodate adele 30 release and give her full month of space. I mean, looking at all of the points made here, there's no beef. Not really. The first comment about the variants was more concerning the production behind the vinyls and how wasteful it is to goad people into buying effectively the same thing again, and again, with just having a song difference between the variants. Then with the concert lengths, having seen how much energy Billie puts into her performances (jumping on a boot cast and all lol), I can't imagine *she* wants to perform for that long, and obviously she's not the type to sit around for three hours listening to the same person. Then with the album length, both her and Finneas were talking more about how they didn't put enough heart in a past album, and that's how they were able to get 16 songs on it. Quantity over quality, which they now really want to do the opposite. The "beef" is between the fans and taking what Billie says and running with it, without paying attention to the source context, or honestly just the fact that Billie is blunt as shit, and she's dramatic in her vocabulary. I think some people like 3 hour long shows. I went to Disturbeds concert last year and it was 3 hours just for them not even the opening act. It was amazing but they didn't just sing the whole time they had a 30 minute speech/story time to break it up.
I think it's well known that Taylor is driven by the numbers and accolades. She has been putting music and touring nonstop her whole career and loves interacting with her fans. Billie has every right to be upset about this but the problem is that she's publicly shading "other artists" while her actions put her in the same place as those she's criticizing. If 3.5 hour concerts aren't what people want, why are tickets to The Eras Tour in such high demand and why do people want to attend multiple times? Same goes for Beyonce.
I ain’t even a Swifty, and have watched The Era’s tour live/streaming, nearly a dozen times - if not more. I am not a huge fan of super-long or even big concerts - though, it was fascinating to see all the little switches, she does. It’s not a bad show. Though, I couldn’t imagine paying to see it, multiple times. Or, well, at all. However, it’s obvious people are wanting an experience, beyond watching a musician play live, for an hour or two. Perhaps it’s due to COVID, and people not being able to tour/see shows, for so long.
Because this is the first tour that Taylor has done in years, not to mention that she gets to sing all of her old music now, of course, fans are going to want to go see someone who barely goes on tour. They aren't going to care how long it is. But if it's someone who you could see once a year, why would you want to sit through a 3-Hour show, it's Overkill and Taylor Swift is overrated

In general it’s kinda a unspoken rule that you let your contemporaries have their moment and don’t compete with them. I guess it’s kinda a way to show allegiance with other female artist and not get wrapped up societies woman vs woman competition fetish. For example when Billie was asked when she was releasing her music she didn’t answer and said “let Ariana grande have her moment before we get into that” that’s kinda the general attitude female artist have for each other. And Taylor seems to be bucking that norm by aggressively releasing different variations of her album 5 weeks after it’s released in a way that appears to be in direct response to Billys album releasing and her potentially over taking her at #1. I dnt think there’s anything necessarily wrong with it but I do think Taylor’s obsession with charts is a little bizarre at this point, typically once artist get to that point they no longer need the external validation that she searches for.. but to each their own.

Back in May 2022, at the Met gala. People thought Billie was throwing shade at Cardi B when she was performing. Someone caught on camera of Billie mouthing the words “so weird” to Cardi’s performance. When cardi saw the video she DM’d Billie and Cardi posted to Instagram why Billie said ‘so weird’. It’s because people were trying to touch and recording Cardi’s a$$. Cardi ended the drama by saying “Billie is my baby”. SEE. So the Internet once again is taking everything Billie is saying out of proportion. These fandoms really need to chill and actually hear Billie out. I can understand why they think Billie is throwing shade, but no. look at the big picture. Actually hear what Billie is saying.

It's a little exploitative. I love TS, I went to two eras shows and loved it. I don't buy much of her merch, I've got three pieces, one was shit and I got a refund. I get people don't have to buy the variants but I do feel like she's taking advantage of how much some fans idolize her. I care about the music industry and what Billie said is actually something I agree with. The over consumerism from artist, their team and their label is gross. It’s become more prevalent every year! Taylor, as one of the most popular artists of the moment, is constantly contributing to that problem herself, especially with these constant special releases. That’s my “beef” with her but she’s far from the only one. That why I’m here not for just Taylor like I promise you, I’m not in all her videos saying she sucks. I care about the music industry and what this recent trend of releasing 20 versions of the same album is doing. I’d be here too if it was any other artist doing this (and many are).

K-pop albums at least have two or three versions where all versions have a completely different theme (mostly, or used to. It kinda starts getting very similar versions by now actually and I don't like that too) and completely different items.
You get a different photobook in each album, different posters, sometimes completely different items when one has for example a keychain and the other has stickers.

i think for taylor and beyoncé, who have been in the industry for (one over, one nearly) two decades, who each have like around 10 albums… a 3 hour show is understandable. they’re two of the biggest artists in the world right now and people WANT those 3 hour shows. im not the biggest taylor defender, i don’t think she needs me to defend her anyway. Its the frustration towards Taylor always winning. People forget how Taylor moved her red tv re release in 2021 to accomodate adele 30 release and give her full month of space. If artists are respectful to each other they co-operate. If Billie was rude towards Taylor who always supported her , than she wil get the heat which is very much deserved.

Also, I am speaking strictly on the length of the concerts though. I’ll never defend how much plastic is wasted when Taylor comes out with versions of her albums. It’s easy to go digital. But with her concerts, she does a lot of good with them being so big. She gave huge bonuses to the workers of her Era’s tour and you have to respect how much work goes into them. People from all creative outlets have the chance to showcase their talent from tours. Plus, her shows aren’t her standing around and walking back and forth. She tells a story with each set.
But, yeah. There’s no beef. It’s celebrities being celebrities. Their name has to be in the spotlight, even more so when they release something. People may hate Taylor for always trying to dominate the charts, but interviews are just as powerful as releasing different versions of the same album.

I mean, looking at all of the points made here, there's no beef. Not really. The first comment about the variants was more concerning the production behind the vinyls and how wasteful it is to goad people into buying effectively the same thing again, and again, with just having a song difference between the variants. Then with the concert lengths, having seen how much energy Billie puts into her performances (jumping on a boot cast and all lol), I can't imagine *she* wants to perform for that long, and obviously she's not the type to sit around for three hours listening to the same person. Then with the album length, both her and Finneas were talking more about how they didn't put enough heart in a past album, and that's how they were able to get 16 songs on it. Quantity over quality, which they now really want to do the opposite.
The "beef" is between the fans and taking what Billie says and running with it, without paying attention to the source context, or honestly just the fact that Billie is blunt as shit, and she's dramatic in her vocabulary. If not vulgar. The shadiest thing here is her manager liking tweets and what not, but that's not Billie. That's her manager.

I think some people like 3 hour long shows. I went to Disturbeds concert last year and it was 3 hours just for them not even the opening act. It was amazing but they didn't just sing the whole time they had a 30 minute speech/story time to break it up.
I think it's well known that Taylor is driven by the numbers and accolades. She has been putting music and touring nonstop her whole career and loves interacting with her fans. Billie has every right to be upset about this but the problem is that she's publicly shading "other artists" while her actions put her in the same place as those she's criticizing. If 3.5 hour concerts aren't what people want, why are tickets to The Eras Tour in such high demand and why do people want to attend multiple times? Same goes for Beyonce.
I ain’t even a Swifty, and have watched The Era’s tour live/streaming, nearly a dozen times - if not more.
I am not a huge fan of super-long or even big concerts - though, it was fascinating to see all the little switches, she does.
It’s not a bad show.
Though, I couldn’t imagine paying to see it, multiple times.

However, it’s obvious people are wanting an experience, beyond watching a musician play live, for an hour or two.
Perhaps it’s due to COVID, and people not being able to tour/see shows, for so long.

However, I do think that she is becoming over saturated and people that aren’t fans are tired of seeing and hearing about her. If it’s not about her new album it’s the tour, the movie, her merch, and even her private life.

In general it’s kinda a unspoken rule that you let your contemporaries have their moment and don’t compete with them. I guess it’s kinda a way to show allegiance with other female artist and not get wrapped up societies woman vs woman competition fetish. For example when Billie was asked when she was releasing her music she didn’t answer and said “let Ariana grande have her moment before we get into that” that’s kinda the general attitude female artist have for each other. And Taylor seems to be bucking that norm by aggressively releasing different variations of her album 5 weeks after it’s released in a way that appears to be in direct response to Billys album releasing and her potentially over taking her at #1.
I dnt think there’s anything necessarily wrong with it but I do think Taylor’s obsession with charts is a little bizarre at this point, typically once artist get to that point they no longer need the external validation that she searches for.. but to each their own.

For the three hour show, I can see where Beyoncé and Taylor fans are getting all peeved but Billie was talking about herself. Basically she was saying she can’t pull off playing a show for that long. However, she praised Taylor and Beyoncé for pulling that off.
For the vinyl variants. People were not seeing the brighter picture and the main point of her bringing it up. She’s talking about being environmentally conscious about selling products that aren’t wasteful. She was expressing how for Her vinyls. Billie’s vinyls are made of other recycled vinyls and have plastic wraps to shield them.
Billie’s points of artists putting out numerous different variants was Billie trying to say that they aren’t environmentally conscious, they are just putting out stuff for fans to buy for the money and for sails and not caring about the environment.
For the amount of tracks on an album. First of all, the Apple Music interview was filmed in April before “the drama”. People need to sit down and calm down. Anyway, Billie and Finneas both expressed how during the making of their sophomore album “happier than ever” they thought how every song they were making was so good, and not really giving it time to really love it but still landing it on their album. Which makes sense of why there were 16 songs on that album. Billie saying “that’s why the album has 16 songs, no one wants to hear that”. She was talking about herself. People always complain about how artists have to many songs on their album tracklist. People complain about an album with more then 12 songs is WAY to long. Every artist including Billie knows that and that’s why she probably said it. It wasn’t directed to Taylor at all.
Also keep in mind, Billie is a person that doesn’t feed into drama. Many times In the past people dragged Billie into drama for no reason just because they thought she said something directing to an artist when it was just taken out of preposition.
Back in May 2022, at the Met gala. People thought Billie was throwing shade at Cardi B when she was performing. Someone caught on camera of Billie mouthing the words “so weird” to Cardi’s performance. When cardi saw the video she DM’d Billie and Cardi posted to Instagram why Billie said ‘so weird’. It’s because people were trying to touch and recording Cardi’s a$$. Cardi ended the drama by saying “Billie is my baby”.
SEE. So the Internet once again is taking everything Billie is saying out of proportion. These fandoms really need to chill and actually hear Billie out. I can understand why they think Billie is throwing shade, but no. look at the big picture. Actually hear what Billie is saying.

Yes, sometimes billie can be a bit outradgeous with what she says, but it is her opinion and, these days, ppl tend to take an opinion to an extreme and, as a result, we as a society hate a lot on ppl for having diferent opinions rather than adressing them correctly. Idk if billie is shading a bit taylor bc they are indeed competing for no1 but i don't think she intends to go to war at her.

i’m a fan of taylor’s music. i’ve gone to the speak now tour and the eras tour. however, i’ve always said, she’s a VERY smart woman and knows what she’s doing. it’s all marketing and about being on top. but in that industry is is bad to want to be #1? i don’t think so. the fans are the ones buying all these different versions, she’s just smart to supply it knowing they’ll buy it. you would do it too
edit- and i was tired during the show. by the 1989 era i was TIRED. i did have my appendix burst a week before and had surgery so that could affect how i felt but it was loooong. i loved it but it was tooo long
It's a little exploitative. I love TS, I went to two eras shows and loved it. I don't buy much of her merch, I've got three pieces, one was shit and I got a refund. I get people don't have to buy the variants but I do feel like she's taking advantage of how much some fans idolize her. She must know that many of them can't afford it or struggle to afford it or over spend just because there are so many options. I would personally be less bothered about it if there was one variant that included everything together, even if it was twice the price.... And then people could buy the individual variants for collections if they wanted. The fact that it's marketed as special and original because it's the only variant with that song.... I get it's capitalism though, she doesn't really owe anyone anything. It is your choice if you buy it. 🤷
@@SamanthaParker-ir2gq it’s their fault for spending money on her if they can’t afford it. all that industry is about is making money, taylor isn’t doing this for her fans and i don’t know why they don’t get that. and ive been a fan since 2006. it’s about the money and it always will be. if people will buy multiple different copies then go ahead and take advantage of that if you want to be on top.

If fans are willing to pay more money for multiple versions of albums with the slightest difference being a voice memo, sure I guess so? People can do what they want with their money. but some of you actually sound insane defending it when it’s not that deep 😂 Some fans would be the first as well to judge other industries like the Kpop industry when those have a chance to get a randomized physical good like a photo but then be excited over a voice memo that’s not a tangible product. I used to buy physical albums for some of my favorite kpop groups, but the multiple versions is ridiculous and honestly it’s just an overrated show and tell for people online to brag about being able to spend the money on every possible version. I miss just one, singular edition and calling it a day
