  • The Golden Temple is officially known as Hiranya Varna Mahavihar or, colloquially, as Kwa Bahal and is situated in north Patan. It is arguably Patan's second most visited attraction, right behind Patan Durbar Square. The temple, which is a Newari Buddhist monastery, was constructed around 1409. The term "golden temple" was given to the structure more as a result of tourism and a shortened translation than due to its true composition in pure gold. The temple has a magnificent golden lustre because the majority of it is polished gilded copper.
A destination less travelled. What an amazing time we had discovering the Golden Temple and various other heritage sites, historical monuments.
Seeking blessings at the pashupatinath temple as well as the ones at Patan.
To imagine that they have restored all of this after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake of 2015 that devasted most of the Patan Durbar Square.
