  • Today, I finally show you how to build the home made DIY exhaust for my 2007 Yamaha FZ6! $50 and an afternoon made my FZ6 sound AMAZING. Of course there is lots of revving in this video ;)
    WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
TWO GLASSPACK MUFFLERS - Closest glasspack I could find still on Amazon: amzn.to/2vJo8xG Look around for a 3" inlet 9" overall length and that's what you need, as I recall. Please measure it yourself first, though. haha
EXHAUST TUBING - Looks like this: amzn.to/2vMjj6D But you can get at AutoZone/O-Reilly for like $11.
PIPE COUPLER - If building it like mine, Looks like this: amzn.to/2nGfLOY - Not the exact one you need, again go to Autozone and tell them what you need.
    HIGH TEMP PAINT - amzn.to/2vK8gen
And all the tools to weld and cut pipe. But other than that it's pretty straight forward and you'll have an awesome exhaust when you finish!
But I also mention some other exhausts, so here are the ones I mentioned if you want to check them out. They all sound awesome, and some really won't break the bank, either.
    DANMOTO: amzn.to/2OD9Llp
    DELKEVIC amzn.to/2vHCvmc
AND AGAIN, Please measure everything before you buy it all. I'm working off memory in this video, since it was built a few years ago. I did my best to make it accurate, but I'm not 100% sure on it haha

Could you just cut the muffler tips from stock pipe and weld in the glasspacks?

A previous owner of my FZ6 cut a big hole in the exhaust pipe, thus making about 80% of exhaust come out of there... the sound afther that is almost identical of what you have now... and loud as F.... lol

You lost me at "I was lane splitting a lot and having a silent bike is stressful..." DO NOT EVER rely on people hearing you. A loud bike is 99% of the time annoying 1% of the time actually saves you while still annoying people, especially now with people being so distracted with phones and MMIs and all that. The technique is the only thing that guarantees that you are as safe as you can be, no pipes needed.
Use good judgment, be aware of your surroundings, leave your ego at home, and proceed with caution. I have had moments while lane splitting, but I have never had an accident because I don't go balls out trying to get to the front of the light.
