There are essentially two groups of Tutsi in the Congo (DRC). There is the Banyamulenge, who live in the southern tip of South Kivu. They are descendants of migrating Rwandan, Burundian and Tanzanian pastoralists. And secondly there are Tutsi in Masisi North Kivu and Kalehe in South Kivu - being part of the Banyarwanda (Hutu and Tutsi) community. These are not Banyamulenge. Some of these Banyarwanda are descendants of people that lived long before colonial rule in Rutshuru and in Masisi - on what is currently Congolese territory. Others migrated or were "transplanted" by the Belgian colonists from Rutshuru or from Rwanda and mostly settled in Masisi in North Kivu and Kalehe in South Kivu.

      Excellent summary.

    • @dortmoon4860
      @dortmoon4860 Před rokem +8

There are no different types of Tutsi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Tutsi migrated to the DRC in the late fifties and sixties. Other Tutsis migrated to DRC in the 1990s-2000s. *There is no historical evidence to reinforce your grandiose assertion that there was a Tutsi-based realm before the Belgian colonization of Congo (DRC).* Bafuliru received squatters from Rwanda and Burundi who had kept their animals. They ascended the Mulenge (Fuliru) mountain, where Bafuliru lived, and cultivated vegetables (taro, sweet potatoes, cassava, yams, pumpkins, peas, nuts, cassava leaves, mushrooms, etc.). These Bantu agriculturists taught the Tutsi pastoralists how to cultivate the lands because the land was fertile and ideally suited to agriculture; the population increased rapidly, causing further waves of migration that lasted in the 1980s.
They camped there with their livestock knowing they would leave soon because Bafuliru was upset with them since the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) had set up a large number of Tutsis in the three sites of Lemera, Mulenge, and Katobo that were already inhabited by the local Bafuliiru population. They were dubbed “Banyamulenge” because they lived where Bafuliru cultivated vegetables, which is Mulenge, a village encircled by various hills and a mountain. Mulenge is a dwelling where Bafuliru resided, and they spoke Kifuliru. *And People who live in Mulenge were and still are exclusively Bafuliiru and Batwa (Pygmies).* Bafuliiru and Batwa are the only people who can be called Banyamulenge. This term started appearing to relate to Rwandan citizens living in Congo since 1977 when Gisaro Muhoza and Rwakabuba Shinga (both Rwandan citizens working with the Government of Mobutu, one as senator, the second as cabinet member, specifically a Mobutu cabinet director) made the plight not to be called “Rwandese” anymore to be distinguished from those coming directly from Rwanda. But it is inevitable that the tribe or “Banyamulenge” doesn’t exist in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
*And the terms “Banyabwisha” and “Banyamasisi” were coined by Tutsis in the 20th century in their attempt to create imaginary fables. The word “Banyabwisha” or “Banyamasisi” is non-existent; it’s not the label that precedes the existence of a human community; it’s rather the opposite. You can’t find those words in historical records-pure Tutsi fantasy.* You’re old news, debunked, regurgitating outdated pseudo-history. You invent things because you don’t know anything. Tutsicentrists should stop their excessive larping & focus on educating themselves instead of indoctrinating themselves with wild theories from history falsifiers. Tutsis used the same method to infiltrate Uganda by calling themselves Banyankole and Bakiga, while learning local languages such as: Runyankole, Rukiga, Luganda, and Lusoga. But DR Congo is impossible because the Congo is a sacred country.
For 20+ years, Congolese voices have been muted as they suffered in silence at the aggression of their neighbors, Rwanda and Uganda. They have massacred, raped, and pillaged the country at the behest of the International Community, mainly the US, France, Belgium, and the UK. Now that Congolese people have realized that no one will come to our rescue and that we should take matters into our own hands, neighbors have started to play the ethnic tensions game to divide us. We will stop the genocide being committed by our neighbors that has been well documented extensively in the Mapping Report of the UN. We will no longer accept the rhetorics played by the Rwandan government and other separatists as an excuse to shed more Congolese blood and exploit resources.

I like this video which is clear though some information are missing. If DRC wants Rwandaphone to return in Rwanda because they speak Kinyarwanda, better to send them with their lands. This is a historical problem and should be solved according to The Berlin Conference of 1884-1885, also known as the Congo Conference.

This guy is mixing differents events of immigration with natives rwandophones who were living in Kivu.
1st category: Hutu/Tutsi were in Rucuru/Masisi and some parts of Goma and also some regions in South Kivu long before the Conference de Berlin 1885 which created the modern Africa Borders. These rwandophone are naturally native to their regions since the modern borders found them where they are.
    2nd Category:
From 1900 to 1930, there were small waves of Hutu/Tutsi who came with Belgians in RDC to work, and these people are also recognized as congolese since most of them weren't even aware of modern borders situation(Example: Rucuru/Masisi is a continuation of Bufumbira_Uganda and Ruhengeri/Gisenyi_Rwanda, families were separated by newly created borders without their consent).
    3rd category:
Refugees coming to Congo in 1959 through the 1960s from Rwanda(most of these refugees of the 1959/1960s were Tutsi and went back to Rwanda in 1994 after the Genocide Against Tutsi)
    4th Category:
In 1994: Hutu refugees(used as human shields) were forcely taken to Congo by fleeing genocidaires army of Habyarimana after committing Genocide against Tutsi in 1994 in Rwanda.
98% of those refugees have now gone back to Rwanda except few remaining refugees in Kivu being held by FDRLs (a genocidaire terrorist rebel group fighting the government of Rwanda).
    Conclusion:
People below are naturally congolese citizen(not to be confused as congolese ethnic group since today RDC is an agglomeration of many diverse Great Lakes ethnic groups with their own languages and relatives from neighboring countries like Cameroun/Central Africa/Angola/Zambia/Uganda/Burundi/Rwanda/Tanzania)
Hutu/Tutsi that lived before 1885 in
    North Kivu regions of Goma(Bakumu),
    Rucuru (majority Tutsi and Banyabwisha),
Masisi(majority hutu with some minority Tutsi)
    and
Living In South Kivu before 1885: Tutsi de l'Itombwe (later called Banyamulenge to differenciate themselves from rwandophones from North Kivu)

There's no Banyamulenge tribe in whole DRC-CONGO, Mulenge is a hill park in EASTERN CONGO. When the Tutsi were seeking refugees in DRC, Mobutu and @UN_HRC settled them their during Havyaramana regime. After decades they started calling themselves Banyamulenge -
Its normal 4 them to feel insecurities in so many ways because they know what they're claiming is not true. They've been supporting their brothers M23 in a dream of balkanization CONGO, they tried to take the place Mulenge by havingg own forces and settled themselves governments, when the Kinshasa government asks them, they always claime because they feel insecure.
In over 400 tribes in whole DRC-CONGO, how possible is it just for one tribe to feel insecure if you're really original from the place? It's like nowadays in Rwanda regime, if you're Hutu from Rwanda and live in DRC-CONGO, then you're consided as FDLR and labed you a genocidal.
The Rwandese Tutsi are pretending to forget before Hutu, they're the ones were seeking refugees across neighbouring countries then when they took power, they accuse the other tribe of genocide and label the whole tribe FDLR. I agreed with Kikwete, kagame have to sit and find peace with Hutu as we're seeing in Burundi.
